found this in an old folder lmao

Back when I joined the Baker Street discord, they told me Data’s nips had names. I was impressed to say the least.

I drew the last image because evidently I got the nips switched in the first.

I’ve rewatched “Transfigurations” (Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 3, episode 25). This episode somehow feels like TOS, I don’t know why – it’s about a race of aliens evolving and a less evolved part is discriminating and repressing the other part. (I guess it was a spoiler already…) One of the more evolved aliens is injured and picked up by Enterprise and healed by Doctor Crusher, but doesn’t remember anything and just live on the ship for some time. It turned out he can heal just by touch. Well, while he was being slowly healed Geordi and Data decoded a capsule with the information they had found with him and so they were able to find his home planet and get him there, even though he was protesting and then they found out about the discrimination and evolution, but everything ended up well, the alien was accepted into the evolved part of the race and has transformed into pure light.

did something a little different: i ANIMATED a commission!!

funny story… i was actually just spitballing pose ideas for spot with, and instead of sending my client five different sketch files i just lumped them all into a quick, messy gif for the sake of convenience. turns out the client LOVED it and was willing to pay extra to animate it!! maybe i should do this more often…

since this is a spiritual successor to one of my most popular posts, i’m glad i sprung for that extra work >:3

What bugs me about all of the “Geordi’s gets normal vision!” plots is like…

Imagine you wake up one morning and find that you can now only see a few specific wavelengths of green light. Does this appeal to you, or do you find it profoundly limiting?

The thing is that if Geordi actually *wanted* the normal human range of vision, there’s absolutely no reason why he should have a VISOR that can see the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Surely to God, if they have the technology to let him see magnetic field lines and gamma radiation and so forth, then they also have the technology to only let him see visible light. He would have had to specifically choose that he wanted superhuman vision; and you know what? Such a choice actually makes sense in terms of his character. *Of course* a nerdy technology enthusiast who was born blind would, if he wanted to see, choose the option with the absolute most features! Why wouldn’t he?

But the writers just keep treating it like it’s an either/or type thing where either he’s completely blind or he can or see all of these weird inhuman things, and isn’t it such a tragedy that the poor guy has never seen a real sunset? As if he would have any particular attachment to such a thing; as if *he* couldn’t have seen things that were absolutely, heartstoppingly beautiful, but which he can’t even describe to any other human being.

I just like the idea that Geordi is astonished when he finds out that everyone else on the ship thinks that the Borg look like monochrome living corpses, because to him, they look absolutely garish; like walking Christmas trees with a core body temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and a permanent halo of radiation from their personal shields, festooned with flashing EM sources in their implants.

I also like the idea that to him the warp core is actually just transcendently beautiful.
