I don’t like MOBAs and I was reluctant to try Paragon at first for that very reason, but this game is something special. Through highs and lows I’ve loved every iteration. It was the one game I wanted to play the most after Maria hit us.
The graphics, hero designs, gameplay, animations, hero kits, it was all great. Even the card systems, though their implementation could have been better, as well as a much needed tutorial for new people to get into deck building. It was the most crucial element of the game as no matter which hero you chose, it was their deck that made the difference.
Epic Games considers it a failure, I don’t think it is a failure, I don’t think they failed in making a great game, they failed at supporting it. Seems like Tencent will steal Paragon from us and it feels worse than if they had to close the game ‘cause it really was a failure. Supporting their current cash cow, Fortnite, is not illogical but putting all eggs in one basket is stupid. Sure, by itself Fortnite sold a lot, but it wasn’t until they ripped off PUBG that the game took off. Not only that but their initial promise of improving the game they sold (currently known as the Save the World mode) is nothing but an afterthought. I don’t wish them ill, granted I’m tempted to, but a fair warning. Once the Battle Royale fad is done and gone, what will you have? As it is, Fortnite gets boring rather fast, and that’s surprising considering all the genres mashed into it.
Paragon was never boring to me, whether or not we had a new hero, there were always stuff to try, thanks to the deck builds. I want to thank the Paragon team for an awesome game, from Legacy to its current iteration, everything was amazing. I particularly want to thank everyone that worked on Phase. I rarely play support types, my roles are usually range and control type characters (granted with the nerfs Phase is more control than support now) but something clicked with Phase. It’s not just her appearance or the nuances in her animations (like her stance) it’s the whole package, every character in Paragon feels complete without resorting to animated shorts like some other companies do. Paragon heroes can stand by themselves without being blessed by luck. In other games you have the hero designs, as interesting or appealing as they are, if not by how the voice actors injected their personalities into their characters you wouldn’t have a fanbase making them greater than they really are.
At the very least, I wish Epic Games would consider letting us keep Paragon as a peer to peer against the bots. There’s a change.org petition if you wish to contribute.
Honestly, no site has more Overwatch ships (I ship Widow Mercy like it’s the USS Enterprise and we were about to be face the Borg) These are obviously parody characters, but where did they come from? Besides the obvious of course.
Well, often enough when I’m waiting for matchmaking or for something to render or anything that has to do with being still waiting, I tend to doodle whatever. One of those doodles was this horrible looking thing lol
When I started it I didn’t have anything in mind. I was just drawing a plucky girl and her big buffed girlfriend. Then I thought, “hmm they’re a bit too Tracer and Zarya” and kept going.
After hurricane Maria destroyed our infrastructure I was left without power and currently, New Year’s Eve and I’m still without internet, but let’s not talk about that damned thing. Bottom line is I had plenty of time to draw and one of the things I decided to do was redraw that, a bit more serious.
I even came up with a little story behind this. If I did my job right, I don’t even need to explain it.
Sorry about the inactivity lately everyone! I’ve been busy working on my new portfolio website, which has left me little time to draw, so here’s an old Neith sketch for all the Smite fanboys (&girls) out there. Full painting to come!
I must confess that I’m still confused with Kirk’s anatomical shape, so I decided to do some study sketches again….. and perhaps again till I’m satisfied.
