Whumpay Day 10
I Can Still Fight | “I can’t stop.” | Exhaustion

The jungle is dense and moist and thick with insects. Everything rots. 

The medic scrubs antiseptic into the long gouge where the bullet clipped him. “You should go back to camp,” she tells him, wrapping gauze tight over it, “and stay there until this has closed up. If it gets infected, I won’t be able to save it.”
“If it starts to get hot, I’ll go,” he says. “We can hope for good luck.”

Wounds don’t heal cleanly out here. But his does. He rubs his fingertips over it often, feeling the profile of it through the dressing and the plastic cover that keeps the rain out.

He wonders if he really is that lucky, or if his good fortune is the work of an unseen force moving, the ripples cast by something swimming beneath the surface. The jungle is hot and humid, but goosebumps shiver across his skin as if a cold wind blew.

So fun fact, I’ve already been partially eaten by a cat!

I had a blister on my foot. A juvenile cat saw it, ran over and chomped it off in a single bite, then licked the area clean.

It didn’t hurt or anything, although I was a bit shocked. But I figure she saw that one of her humans was hurt and immediately applied feline first aid! It was adorable.

What the fuck has happened to OSHA since I last was here? Was I genuinely out of it enough that I did not realise how genuinely concerning everyones situation is? Are you all okay? Should I carry around a medical kit?

Genuine question. I am pretty sure at this point even if I had not snapped out of my power hungry and evil mindset I would be concerned. Everyone seems to be in danger constantly. I am very worried about all of you.

That sounds horrifying - do you. Do you need anything? A weighted blanket maybe, or. I do not know, maybe Kishar? Maybe some water? That genuinely sounds traumatizing, I am so sorry you saw that

Wait hang on what’s a weighted blanket. It sounds obvious and kind of nice but. What is it. I want to be Sure.

It is a blanket with small weights in them to give a comfortable pressure, from what I know. It is designed to help with sleep I think?

Knowing my luck, and this place, there’s only more trauma inbound. Also what the fuck did you do to kish to make them think doing… that to a body was cool. I had rage and violent tendencies even before the trauma. Feel like kish… didn’t.

I do not know what you saw specifically but. I was a scientist. I did a lot to cadavers to research how they worked. They may not even have done it out of violence, just… curiosity.

What the fuck has happened to OSHA since I last was here? Was I genuinely out of it enough that I did not realise how genuinely concerning everyones situation is? Are you all okay? Should I carry around a medical kit?

Genuine question. I am pretty sure at this point even if I had not snapped out of my power hungry and evil mindset I would be concerned. Everyone seems to be in danger constantly. I am very worried about all of you.
