Its ok if your hair is ratty and dead from overdying, and maybe you cant dye it anymore
Its ok if your nail polish is chipping
Its ok if you’re bad at makeup, if no one told you you had lipstick on your teeth, if your lipstick came off as you were eating, if you were in a rush and couldn’t do bonkers yonkers xtreme makeup
Its ok if your DIY looks ratty, is falling apart, you can’t tell what the embroidery is supposed to be, if it doesnt look storebought (because as a wise skater boy in my music class once told me, it looks cooler if you can tell that its DIY, because that sends a message about your creativity)
If you dont look like a perfect monster high doll or goth model, good. We’re human. We arent flawless, we’re creative and non conformist, but somewhere along the way of the evolution of the subculture we lost that. Originally the goth look was not even slightly about looking pretty, it was about looking artistic and different. So why is it any different now ? Fuck conventional attractiveness, look creative and different and wild and loud. Not pretty.
