hey everyone! quarantine can absolutely suck my dick and since we’re out here staying home and not dressing up or loitering around graveyards, its super easy to feel alienated from the community. but theres a heap you can do to still feel like a part of the community from home!
- check out a bunch of those obscure goth bands on your To Listen list that you never got the chance to do!
- DIY the fuck out of some clothes. paint a jacket, embroider a skirt, make yourself some cool ass shit to wear when youre finally out of quarantine
- read that fucking edgar allen poe book youve kept on your bookshelf for the aesthetic and only skimmed through. youre not fooling anyone. we know you havent fucking read it
- read the rest of those gothic novels youve kept on your bookshelf for the aesthetic
- do all the goth DIYs youve saved to your pinterest board never to be seen again
- watch a bunch of spooky movies
- scroll through goth meme pages till your little fingers bleed
- research obscure but spooky topics to casually bring up in conversation so you seem scary and weird and like an estranged member of the addams family (we all know you do this. and we all know u aint fooling anyone. its still fun though!)
- learn how to taxidermy if thats something youve been waiting to do
- the youtube channel Ask a Mortician is so fucking morbid, a mortician answers death questions and talks about bodies, i previously didnt know all the stages of decomposition but now i do, and you can too!

We see all these gorgeous alternative models and goth girls on instagram, wearing perfectly tailored killstar or flawless DIYs but
Its ok if your hair is ratty and dead from overdying, and maybe you cant dye it anymore
Its ok if your nail polish is chipping
Its ok if you’re bad at makeup, if no one told you you had lipstick on your teeth, if your lipstick came off as you were eating, if you were in a rush and couldn’t do bonkers yonkers xtreme makeup
Its ok if your DIY looks ratty, is falling apart, you can’t tell what the embroidery is supposed to be, if it doesnt look storebought (because as a wise skater boy in my music class once told me, it looks cooler if you can tell that its DIY, because that sends a message about your creativity)
If you dont look like a perfect monster high doll or goth model, good. We’re human. We arent flawless, we’re creative and non conformist, but somewhere along the way of the evolution of the subculture we lost that. Originally the goth look was not even slightly about looking pretty, it was about looking artistic and different. So why is it any different now ? Fuck conventional attractiveness, look creative and different and wild and loud. Not pretty.
My litmus test for a person is that I tell em I work at a funeral home and if they get weirded out they’re not worth being homies with

Daily affirmation before the club: all the hot goth bitches think I’m so cool and mysterious. The fact I work in a funeral home and my unhealthy level of obsession with the victorian era makes me so attractive to them. The elder goths will not gatekeep. Amen
I love the goth club bc it’s impossible to be self conscious while there’s a woman in a full black latex bodysuit crawling around on the ground right in front of you to kiss by London after midnight
My predictions
For my 18th birthday i had a funeral themed party (death of my childhood) which consisted of:
-invitations based on victorian mourning stationary
-mirrors covered and clocks stopped, as per victorian mourning traditions
-a fake coffin set up in the middle of the room surrounded by white lilies and candles
-all my friends and family required to dress in black funeral attire
-order of service pamphlets handed to guests
-a funeral service, in which i was led into the room with a black veil over my face and seated next to the coffin
-the service started with my brother playing a piano piece
-my dad, acting as the celebrant, conducting the service
-guests were encouraged to give eulogies, my friends and family got up to share their memories of us
-a slideshow of my childhood photos
-candlelit and spooky
-after the service the party was wiiilllddd
-goth club playlist
-i proceeded to get very drunk
-i proposed to my best friend in front of her girlfriend and my boyfriend
-blacked out. Apparently rolled around in tge middle of the dancefloor with my tits out
-vomitted…so much
-bf and mum had to shower puke off me
-i attempted (unsuccesfully) to escape tge bedroom where i was confined
-passed out
-woke up with worst hangover of my life
So worth it tho, a great idea for a bday party!!! Funeral themed parties slap!!

Can you believe its a new decade already? I’m not mentally prepared for that reality yet. This was my last “look” of 2019, for my friend’s birthday a few days ago. I feel like I had a lot of good outfits last year
