Happy New Year. Thank you for supporting my work and the ancient craft of hand weaving.
Here are a couple of photos from the traditional warp making process. After each three-day weaving workshop, students are invited to witness and participate in the construction of a new warp.
At the moment, due to current regulations, only one on one lessons are offered. If you are keen to familiarise yourself with traditional looms and techniques then do get in touch :)

Here is a sneak peak into my Infinity collection inspired by Chromatin Loops, which are structures found inside Chromosomes.
Transferring new patterns and ideas with traditional weaving techniques was challenging but exhilarating.

It has been decided that the traditional weaving lessons will take place next week under the condition that participants will have to wear a mask. There are three out of four slots available, so do let me know if you are interested. The dates and times are:
Thursday 15th / 8:30am-1:30pm
Friday 16th / 8:30am-1:30pm
Saturday 17th / 8:30am-1:30pm

Here is Theano from Phyti weaving an intricate ploumi. We won’t be learning this particular one but the ‘kamaroua’ (little arch) and ‘mostres’ (stripes) preceding it on Theanos loom shall be covered!

‘Chromatin Loops’ close-ups showing one of the multifarious effects that can be achieved by combining different yarns.
Due to the raised appearance of weaves such as this one, they are often mistaken for embroideries. However, the design is in-woven and forms a part of the internal fabric structure as opposed to an addition on top.

The looms on which the pieces in my web-shop are woven, reside in a 19th century building that has been in the family for six generations.

My aunt Christalleni -a dressmaker- held sewing and embroidery apprenticeships here in the 1930s. Creative endeavours have always been encased within these walls!
