Hidden in the Shadows
They called me out to the fire-ridden field
A land of white and flame and snow
And told me to fight for he I didn’t know
Until his soul was finally healed
A world of experts made me a fool
But still I never should’ve trusted their words
The opportunity gone like wing-flaps of birds
I don’t wish to be their tool
Hidden in shadows, I shall remain
Until the time to finally strike comes
Until he’s gone and his power succumbs
They haven’t known yet true pain
He had been messy, a fool in his game
But I will fight with my own style
Sure, it may take quite a while
But I’ll win unlike he did all the same
I know every move, my power is greater
You will lose this forsaken fight
Hidden in shadows, away from the light
Anyone could’ve been the traitor
Learn well, heroes, I shall prevail
And perhaps I’ll win, and then you’ll see
You never should’ve forsaken me
I will end this sorry tale
…
You call yourself the ruler of all
But I am not so easily fooled
You thought it was I who you ruled
But now this game will be your fall
You can’t stop my masterful attack
And this game you started, I will win
Even if I become the story’s villain
Hidden in shadows, I’ll put the pieces back
Blood on my Name
My goal, a simple endeavor
Yet one not many would partake.
Peace across my hate-torn world
To fix it before more it can break.
Daughter dearest, son of mine,
They shall rule when I cannot.
They will take this path so fine,
And they shall continue the master plot.
And yet, he protests it with his claim
That I’m the monster they should fight.
Who cares if I have blood on my name?
I know my goal is the one that’s right.
Twice forsaken, once forgotten,
Once a killer, thrice a fool.
I shall not remain downtrodden,
For now I am the one who will rule.
Oh Gods above, hear my plea,
Let the world be fixed tonight.
For when the sun shines black, you see,
It will be the end of my fight.
Forsaken again, but it matters not.
The ending will always be the same.
Peace will come when their free will rots.
And I’ll succeed, even with blood on my name.
They shout and scream and struggle and cry,
But they don’t see the truth hidden.
To all of time, they had been blind,
And now the course of life shall be rewritten.
With no free will, peace can reign.
With no free will, we’re all the same.
With no free will, there’s no more pain.
They don’t have to know of the blood on my name.
As long as they see me as in the right,
And the past shall remain concealed.
I control the new world tonight…
…Right?
…
“But we who fight you shall not yield.”
We Meet At Midnight
They say there’s a world,
Just north of the east;
They say it brings suffering
And magic likes it least.
They say, to this world,
Three parties will lurk,
None knowing of the other,
Hoping plans will work.
Connected by somebody
Who lost nobody’s fight,
They say this to their own:
“We meet at midnight.”
…
The first were her friends,
Who first knew she was lost.
Determined to get her back,
No matter the cost.
A King, Hope, Despair,
Two twins lost to time,
A queen, god-turned-man,
Commit the perfect crime.
The heroes they denounced
Would never have to know
If they made this journey quick,
So at midnight, they shall go.
…
The second, sister not by blood.
Her fear described not.
And so, with the help of a prince,
She made her master plot.
With magic at her fingertips,
And wrath with her, at her side,
She still felt a fear within her,
It could not be shaken if she tried.
But even fear could not stop her
From saving her friend,
So at midnight, she would go,
Not stopping ‘til the end.
…
The third, had no connection.
He didn’t know her name,
He barely knew her face,
But wished to help all the same.
With a blade within his hands,
And a loyal friend at his side,
He vowed to break her out
As he’d done so many times.
So when the day was young,
And the clock chimed for midnight,
Onward he would go,
To fight nobody’s fight.
…
The meeting of three,
Who knew no one prior
Allowed them all to succeed
And make it somewhere higher.
She who lost the fight
Was saved before the sun,
And the world with magic’s hate
Had once again not won.
But this is not the end;
There’s always another fight.
And when that time comes, they say:
“We meet at midnight.”
The Devil’s Music
O Devil, hear the music rise
The one of which you’ve been smitten
O Devil, fear their infernal cries
In which your fall has been written
O Sinner, the climax is coming soon
But first, the eternity’s rest
O Sinner, you lead this sorry tune
Of which is your final test
O Monarch, here lies the end of your war
So pick well your words that you say
O Monarch, the pen is mightier than the sword
But the pen declares war today
O Prideful, your heart acts after your head
And pleads as the melody soars
O Prideful, she is not one to dread
So listen to what she implores
O Avariced, as your part fades away
Know that they still shall rise
O Avariced, please know what they say
That one day, the sun again shall rise
O Envious, you lost that you hold dear
But never shall it be forgotten
O Envious, be strong despite the fear
And fight against he who’s so rotten
O Wrathful, be warned at magic’s cost
The Devil’s song is not easily swayed
O Wrathful, bring back one who is lost
So they may see the light of day
O Lustful, your mercy is soon to die
As the song strikes the minor chord
O Lustful, it’s a fate you had to find
Do not feel regret for actions not yours
O Voracious, your gift may go unsung
But your assistance is important yet
O Voracious, the night is still young
Even if it is you they forget
O Restful, the burden you carry
Is greater than those you surround
O Restful, the fall of your adversary
Shall echo that beautiful sound
O Children, heed the warning of stars
And carry the melody bright
O Children, the sun shall be ours
And we shall escape eternal night
O Devil, hear the music rise
The song that once you did write
O Devil, the music, still it flies
But the sound is no longer yours tonight
Golden Decay
Eyes watched like the hawks in the heavens
But she did not think to stop
Because her destiny ahead beckons
Seven seconds
That’s the amount of time
From the moment she uttered the name
For her to be little more than the blind man’s warning
Everyone has their stone-set limits
But she did not think to wait til morning
Because she didn’t want what it solicits
Forty-two minutes
That’s the amount of time
From the moment she took off
That it took her to reach the end of her fate
A golden decay that glittered like tears
But she did not think to hesitate
Because hesitation meant she had fears
Eighteen years
That is the amount of time
From the moment she was brought to life
That she spent wishing to defy it’s unbreakable will
Life and destiny never like to give up
But she did not think to feel the chill
Because it would mean ignoring apeirophilia
Many millenia
That is the amount of time
From the moment of my creation
That I have lingered with my name for no one to say
Lost to a pair and lost to many minds
But I do not care for the mind’s golden decay
Because it is me they wish to find
All of time
That is the amount of time
From the moment my name left their lips
That I have been waiting to return to the world I left
I have been stopped time and again
But no longer will I be so bereft
For soon they shall finally know my name
Never again will I be stopped by the golden mind’s decay
Better Than This
The strike of a match
Meets the dying flame
She crumbles to ash
And calls out her name
But stopped not is fate
By the match being struck
As time does not wait
For a stroke of pure luck
She’s told nothing changes
That you can’t fix the past
But she’s better than this
And she won’t let them last
…
Her eyes never truly open
And she never truly sees
How much has been broken
In her longing for peace
The flame would be killed
As she opened her eyes
To see past the instilled
To see through the disguise
She’s told not to take risks
That this is her fate
That she’s better than this
She’s knows better than hate
…
Two girls finally realize
Connected by blood
They open their eyes
And prepare for the flood
One spoke but didn’t know
One knew but didn’t speak
But the truth now could show
When the sun hit its peak
So now the clock ticks
And the sun turns to black
They’re better than this
And now they’re fighting back
Made of Stardust
You are made from stardust.
Is that all they say you are?
Whispering words of wisdom
Washed western by the wind.
Roaming ‘round the land
To remind of what is lost.
A legend, a tale, a fable;
A story long forgotten.
Eighteen lifetimes lived
Only to be taken by the queen.
So soon from me, too soon-
Now the darkness settles every day.
You who held the darkness back:
Fragility lingered in your heart.
The roses broken by your fall,
Yet still you could not stay.
They say legends never die,
But weren’t you the bravest of all?
So now I hold you close to me;
I cannot let you die in vain.
I am made of stardust.
Is that all I now am?
Finishing the job you started,
Just to end your killer’s twisted reign?
We are made of stardust.
That’s what we were meant to be.
And though you were the brightest,
Every star shall fade away.
We are made of stardust.
And that is all they say.
