Watching Hellsing Ultimate, and caught a glimpse of the Greek on Alucard’s coffin. Obviously, I had to read it. In searching for decent images in which I could actually read the text, I inevitably came across a bunch of people discussing what it meant. Particularly, I came across lots of people who don’t know Greek telling other people who don’t know Greek what it “meant”.
Here’s the Greek: λίθος ο ορεστιαςχρυσος ποιητ(ι)κος*
What it doesn’t say: anything about poets, Orestes, or Cryses.
Okay, you can make it about poets if you really want to, but I promise it doesn’t make much sense to do so. Part of the problem is that I don’t think this is very good Greek… every word here is in the nominative, and maybe my brain is just fried right now from processing exam scripts, but you kinda’ need an accusative in there somewhere… and a verb instead of an adjective (ποιητικος is an adjective) would be preferable.
What it ‘actually’ says, (in a way that roughly tries to rescue some sense from it, and works on the general assumption that what it’s trying to refer to is the philosopher’s stone):
The stone of the mountain
(is the one) capable of making gold.
*The iota isn’t there in the anime, but without it it’s meaningless, so…

(Ineed to stop watching MCU movies, especially Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Every time I watch that movie, I end up looking to all the other fandoms that have taken over what little remains of my life, and I think, ‘what if x character here went through the same shit Bucky did?’)
School has been quite the fickle mistress this past month, and I’ve felt bad for leaving you guys in the dark for a while. So to make up for it, I decided to dust off the photos I’ve had saved for a while and bring another addition of looking into roles voice actors of Fire Emblem characters have done.
And what better way to do so than to look at the woman who gave the voice of the iconic and lovely Lucina, laura Bailey.
Laura Bailey has made quite the resume for herself, lending her voice to some of gamings and animes most well known characters.
For starters she’s lent her voice to two characters in the most famous anime to exist, Dragonball Z.
Trunks and Gotenks.
It’s enough to voice just one Dragonball character, but two? Now that is some major bragging rights.
And her run in anime doesn’t stop there. She also voiced
a young Suzaku in Code Geass and
Mako from Soul Eater.
And as if that’s not enough, she also voiced
Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Young boys, young girls and full grown woman- that’s quite the vocal range for one person.
And she’s also garnered herself quite the lineup of video game roles.
There’s
Catwoman from Batman the Telltale Series, who is the last person I expected to voice.
And another role I didn’t know she did was
Chiyo from Fragile Dreams Farewell Ruins to the Moon. You know, the little ghost girl who kept asking you to get her sh*t?
And in Blazblue she voiced
Platinum the Trinity.
She also voiced
Serah from Final Fantasy 13, but I’m not sure how much rejuvination that earns given the games reputation.
Now these last four are especially special, as these characters are well beloved not only in their series, but in gaming in general.
Those four being
Blaze the cat from the Sonic series
Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4 (and I’m not aware if she also voices her in the anime, I haven’t gotten around to watching it)
Chun Li from Street Fighter
and Catherine from, well, Catherine.
Can I just say how much i was shocked to find this out? The same person who voices a caring yet fragile princess from the future also voices a succubus whose working with a demonic force to seduce men into cheating so they can torment them with nightmares until they die? I know it’s been a while since I played Catherine, but I never noticed this at any point. I swear, these things just know how to surprise me.
I can’t blame Laura Bailey for being so well known, especially given the line up I’ve listed, along the many others I couldn’t get around to.
And hopefully she can continue to keep her mark in the world of voice acting.
She also provided the voice of Schrödinger from Hellsing Ultimate (seriously, voicing male characters?? Her talent knows no bounds :))
And she also provided the voice of little Henrietta from Gunslinger Girl :)

i’ve been wondering what the deal behind walter switching sides was about. why leave behind the people you trust most, the people you’ve known longer just to escape death? in the end it’s futile, we all know he would have died either way, by age or alucard’s hands
no but i always thought it was funny how maxwell ordered anderson around as if he was an idiot, when in reality anderson could have just stepped on him (or pushed him over) and boom. there he goes
