LIVE

One of the flashback I had, was when few years back, a much younger version of ourselves were sitting in the living room here, in Paris.

We suddenly started a debate, imagining where everyone would see each other in 10 years. We all had the same vision, of a mature Rahul being cozy alone in his bubble. Sunny being a joyful guy, putting loud punjabi songs while driving. You saw me traveling around, being in a relationship with a gora (nvm). And you, settled down, a young lady happily married.

Indian weddings are such a journey. Long days of preparation, generally a week of ceremonies and events, plenty of colorful suits and dishes, and much more.

On her journey to her marriage, one of the first ceremony for the bride is the mehndi rassam / henna ceremony.

As following the traditions, according to what our parents, grand-parents and ancestors used to do back in the motherland, we continue, here, the rassam. Being auspicious, just as a way to wish her prosperity and luck for her new life.

I don’t know since when the sadness is living

In the lonely house of my heart

مرے دل کے اکیلے گھر میں راحتؔ

اداسی جانے کب سے رہ رہی ہے

Made a playlist which basically (and hopefully) has Semi Classical songs that’ll make you feelgood and also have some element of vastness in them (coz these are the songs I would listen to while gazing at some beautiful monument)

Mentioned only Agra, Mathura and Rajasthan coz that’s the places I have been to most recently (in terms of places with beautiful historical monuments)

Also, I LOVE “A suitable boy” ’s cinematography, background music, aesthetics and of course TANYA MANIKTALA❤

I love it that Indian Classical and Semi Classical Music doesn’t let me sleep, takes me to another world and makes me yearn so much but also heals me, lets me have a sound sleep and makes me a happier person

I love this youtube channel so much now!

I have amazing school annual functions’ memories associated with this song and I love this song otherwise too

Petition to have all the Indian Classical and Semi Classical songs on spotify, please. Your girl is yearning

Love this song! Santoor instrument always feels like a soft, sensual moonlit night + water element

This song feels like early morning and activity at some places and like dusk, when everyone is winding up at the other places to me

Desi culture shames kid who switch careers or drop out of college to pursue something that they care about and I’m here to tell you that there is literally nothing wrong about that. I studied for five years in a med school, got a degree and now I’m working as a full time content writer because my internship during the pandemic last year taught me that I’m not mentally prepared to go back to hospitals. And i am glad that I was able to make that decision when I did. Do what’s best for YOU. Your parents or relatives aren’t the ones who’ll be stuck doing something that drains their soul.

looking to make more desi friends! i’ve watched devdas a bit too many times and just fell head over heels in love with the amount of history and culture as i watched more period films.
