Honestly you don’t even have to change the genre much. Guy probably went through quite the ordeal because of all the people trying to get to Indy.

Day 1: “Professor Jones, hate to bother you but there’s an assassin trying to kill me, do you have…yes I see it…*gunshots* just to make sure, is there any paperwork I can file or should I just call the police?”

Day 85: “Oh fucking try me, I have 84 papers to grade because that lazy asshole went off to fucking Burma in the middle of fucking finals week, if you don’t leave right the fuck now I will awaken that ancient artifact in the corner and turn your intestines into fucking snakes.”

also, don’t forget: the movies are set in the 1930s-50s

so please imagine this 20-year-old girl who’s had to practically fight god to convince everyone that, no, she would NOT be happier with a degree in home economics and yes, she DOES want to be an archaeologist. she’s had to deal with male grad students trying to steal her research and constant patronizing questions about whether she can really handle the dirt and insects out in the field. even Indy, who stands up for her when the department leadership tries to pull Some Bullshit, sometimes treats her like a glorified secretary just out of habit

when the bad guys show up, they are therefore faced with a young woman who exists in a permanent state of simmering rage. she has a sensible wool skirt and practical oxfords and a baseball bat and you can fuck right off if you’re trying to pull this nonsense right after one of her professors just called her “sweetie” for the dozenth time

Okay idk if the timing and logistics match up at all but i just have a fever thought that his TA is none other than Mrs Evelyn O’Connell. Just think about it.

Jones: Are you sure you’re up for this position?

Evie: Dr Jones I assure you that despite being a woman I-

Jones: No no it’s not that, it’s just that there’s a lot of… weird artifacts that come through my door

Evie: Oh, well I actually have some experience with weird

Jones: and sometimes it can get dangerous…

Evie *smiling*: I can handle that as well

(Later in the school year, during a shoot out)

Jones: You weren’t kidding! *gunshots*

Evie pulling out a grenade and chucks it: These ruffians aren’t half as bad Imhotep, and he was nothing compared to midterms *explosion*

Evie: Oh dear they seem to have brought more friends. Pass me my bag Professor Jones if you’d please.

Jones: Sure Evie *hands her the bag*

Evie: *pulls out an old fashion pistol with a large bell*

Jones: I don’t think that’s going to be enough.

Evie: Oh it’s not. I’m phoning my husband *fires a flare through the window*

Jones: I doubt stiff upper lip gent is going to help us right now Evie.

Evie: I whole heartedly agree Professor Jones.

*A moment later Rick crashes the car through the wall and pulls out a tommy gun. He screams at the top of his lungs as he rushes the bad guys*

Evie: Luckily my husband is American.

This continued to get better and better as I went.

Reminder that in 2008 Sci-Fi Channel mysteriously aired a version of Raiders of the Lost Ark that replaced one - just one - shot with CGI, and then it was never seen again or explained. This video is the only evidence this cut exists

It’s not even the whole shot. They seem to have just made the cliff itself CGI. The Sci-Fi Channel: Goes into 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, replaces one cliff with CGI, refuses to elaborate, leaves

Why the eyeroll, Frosty?

Because it’s just self-satisfied virtue signaling.

Nah, I don’t need someone to “correct” a Jewish director’s near 40-year-old, Nazi punching homage to 1930’s adventure serials. The movies are fine. They’re fun.

It’s okay to just enjoy stupid, fun shit without breathlessly signaling how unproblematic you are.

Thank you.

Nah. We can still have the Nazi punching and shit. But essentially she kinda talks to her great gramps, and when she brings to him what happened, Indy realizes “Oh wow. I didn’t know I did that much harm. If you want, you can fix my mistakes. Thank you.”

And then her hijinks ensue with companions of thembo AMAB who she’s been close to for 7 years, token cishet boy who funds this expedition purely for adventure and is on thin ice, and another one of the girls who’s randomly culturally versed and autism coded with her special interests.

He. Did. No. Harm!

And fuck off with that crap in the second paragraph. The virtue signal is blinding.

You’re just mad at the idea of good writing that doesn’t glorify appropriating ancient shit

You think slapping a bunch of labels ob cardboard is good writing.

Ancient shit from already dead people and civilizations would be getting destroyed right this second if it wasn’t in a museum. Ask the taliban how they’re doing.

There’s another thread telling about how Indie actually doesn’t steal from anyone and the last movie was explicitly RETURNING the ancient shit.

First movie: Fertility Statue from long dead civilization that even the locals didn’t know about. Also, the Arc, which no person should have, ever.

Second movie: returnes the sacred stones to the people who worship them

Third movie: becomes worthy of the grail, therefore owning it officially, and even leaving it behind once he didn’t need it anymore

Fourth movie: literally about returning the skull.

You certainly sound heated over a movie concept with a colourful cast.

Have you considered not getting so pissy over someone else’s ideas of entertainment? I mean, it’s not like we’re asking for a Hallmark movie, another movie about some stupid sport like football, or some half-baked feel good family movie with zero plot.

Or do you just hate the idea of diversity in movies and entertainment adjusting to the modern day’s awareness of things like some overly sensitive status quo tool?

Have you considered actually watching and understanding movies before complaining about how problematic they are and that “insert woke here” has to self-righteously fix them?

By all means, make a movie, but don’t use it to discredit and devalue an already existing franchise. And you are exactly asking for that. Make a new franchise or stay true to the original.

Funny how you dropped the argument on the previous movies in favor of “just let us have fun”. Well, you can have fun on the fanfiction site of your choice, but leave the canon alone.

To add to this:No one would have an issue with a female archeologist and a colorful cast that dowork to recover ancient artifacts and restore them to their rightful place, possibly fighting Nazis on the way.  I daresay it’s a great premise for a movie, hell it’s an even better premise premise for a TV series that could go for several seasons.

But the moment you say ‘…And fixing this series!’ is when people are going to defend the original series and your idea is revealed not as something fun and exciting for you, but as yet another weapon to tear down something beloved by all.

What’s infuriating about OPs post is the insinuation that Indiana Jones would never do that of his own accord when in reality

Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom the second movie in the series stats out with Dr. Jones giving the remains of a Chinese emperor to a Chinese business man Shanghai in exchange for a large diamond which has no cultural relevance. And the movie ends with Indiana Jones bringing the stone that the Thuggie cult stole from the Indian village along with all of their kidnapped children

archaeology:Yup. A fine line between archaeology and grave-robbing.

This year, FrikiMAD* organization invited me to join a group of artist chosen to create a collection of charity sheets for the Geek Pride day.

This is my contribution to the Geek Pride 10th Anniversary Collection of Charity Prints. Digitally painted, assembled and textured in Photoshop using photographs as reference. Can you find the 20 geek objects/references in the image?

All the benefits of the sales will go to some NGO, as they did in previous years with the celebration of FrikiMAD. You can buy your collection for only 20€ at the FrikiMAD or –if you can not attend– just apply through this email: [email protected].

*FrikiMAD is a free event that was born in 2014 with the aim of becoming a reference within the national geek scenario (with debates, talks, screenings, round tables…).

This was probably one of the most fun bucket list items. Ever. No joke.
In Disney World we did this, and it became sort of a game. We’d wave to people and say hi, and if someone waved back We’d cheer and shout “THANK YOU!!!!!”

Probably the best reaction was from a guy our age. We waved and said hi, as usual, and then he walked over and said: “Hi!!!! Do I know you?” Of course we said no and explained what we were doing and we had a quick conversation with him, and if he is reading this (slim chance, we forgot to mention our little “project”), then sir, you are awesome.

I (Marissa) also saw one of the extras they called out from the audience for the Indiana Jones and said “HI! YOU DID GREAT IN THE INDIANA JONES SHOW!!!!!” He was flattered.

Probably one of my favorite days in the park.

Did I mention we are very enthusiastic people? :)

~Marissa

This movie’s gonna look so good I already wanna eat it
