i spent the past 2 years in an online fandom for a comedian who a year ago was found to have sexually harassed a woman and basically laid the blame on her whilst admitting it, and everyone said they were still fans of him, that he had been nice to them so they were going to continue that support, some of them knew about it for a while and still supported him, etc etc, despite knowing he did this. and they sought an active friendship with him even after i told them about my own experience, so i felt vulnerable and confused at the lack of sincerity
so forgive me if i don’t really believe that the d*pp supporters actually care about abuse victims just cos he played a pirate and some quirky characters. man is an addict who ruined his own career by having no respect for his co-workers and his job, as well as declining in popularity (and his “popularity” was only sustained by nostalgia and because he starred in bad attempts at relaunching old popular franchises. lol).
i don’t EVER want to hear “ughh why do people care about this celebrity drama they’re both bad it’s not that deep” again. if you cant see the sweeping ramifications of this you’re blind or dumb or both
The amount of former emo children that have come out of the woodwork today to try and justify traveling to Vegas for the When We Were Young Fest… insane. I love it.
