There are changes afoot here on Instagram
Last week after @mosseri made an announcement . IG is testing the ability to switch between 3 options to view posts on our home screen: Home, Favorites & Following. Two would give us the option to view posts in chronological order! ⬜◼️◻️◾◽▪️▫️
“Home” is the current order most of us experience our feeds. The IG algorithm decides what we see based on engagement & posts we generally prefer. ♥️ That’s why we sometimes see posts that are a few days old—IG somehow notices we’ve missed them & thinks we’d like them. The home option will also show posts from accounts you might not be following.
“Favorites” will populate your feed with posts shared by those on your “favorites,” or “close friends” list. I’m really looking forward to trying it!
“Following” harkens back to a May 20, 2020 post I wrote, asking friends which features they wished to see. ️ @webgrrrrl @turinepi @gfridell_photo wanted IG to bring back the chronological feed. ⌚ Finally, it’s in the works. “Following” will show you content shared by those you follow, in the order they’re posted, without algorithms.
Earlier this week, Alessandro Palluzi @alex193a leaked a new feature IG is working that will let users rearrange their profile grids in any order they choose.This is a surprising & cool option, because it gives us a chance to customize the look of our grids & spotlight posts that might’ve been missed.️ This feature along with feed view options ️♀️ is pretty game changing from a content-viewing standpoint.
It isn’t clear how fluid the viewing options will be.
Does one feed choice sound more appealing than the others? And what do you think about customizing your profile grid?
OTHER NEWS: I read a story on Lifehacker about the best free online courses everyone should take this year & signed up for an introduction to computer science course offered by Harvard & taught by @davidjmalan. I hope I can keep up.

A little late for Halloween, but whateverrrr. I had this idea for a while, combining my two favorite Jacks, Sparrow and Frost, by having our beloved Guardian of Fun dress up as CAPTAIN Jack Frost. ;)
And of course I had to insert a sword made of ice there, hehe.

Years ago I have written a “Rise of the Guardians” fanfiction where Jack meets the Spirit of Death, who is an elderly Victorian woman called Morticia. All the other spirits avoid her because they are afraid of her but after having a good talk Jack finds out she’s not nearly as scary and cold-hearted as everyone claims.
The sketch was drawn early this year, but I never had the time or motivation to colour it until now.
