“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.”

— Haruki Murakami, Kafka On The Shore.

*Feeling my ears pop, I opened my mouth to release the pressure. The bombardier tilted slightly to the left and began a slow and steady turn. Gradually, everything began to come into view. I was in awe when a sea of clouds bathed in golden light caught my eyes. Down below, the ground looked like square plots on a huge map of some kind.

Silence, I discover, is something you can actually hear.

“If you remember me, then I don’t care if everyone else forgets.”

Every one of us is losing something precious to us. Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back again. That’s what part of it means to be alive. But inside our heads — at least that’s where I imagine it — there’s a little room where we store those memories. A room like the stacks in this library. And to understand the workings of our own heart we have to keep on making new reference cards. We have to dust things off every once in a while, let fresh air in, change the water in the flower vases. In other words, you’ll live for ever in your own private library.

As I finished “Kafka on the Shore” today I wanna share three (!!!) quotes. I liked so many. It made me question a lot of my decisions and mindset.

On another note, I really liked Hoshino and Nakata and how their bond got stronger and especially Hoshino’s growth and development!

Feel free to use my tag #1i1acbooks.

2nd June 2021

May was filled with reading, which I love and do way too little.

I finished reading the short story collection “after the quake” and finally (!!) finished “the wind-up bird chronicle”. I just enjoy bizarre stories. Now I can read on “Kafka on the Shore”. I put many post-it notes in this book because I like so many quotes. Or they make me think. Or both! I’m happy that I have time to read!

I track the tag #1i1acbooks, feel free to use it.

Books I’m reading at the moment!

As you see I have a slight preference for Haruki Murakami at the moment.

31st of January in 2021

Started reading “Kafka on the Shore” and I really like it so far. As always I’m amazed by Murakami’s stylistic writing!

I learn so much about Japan, myself, writing.

I use the tag #1i1acbooks, please use it, I’ll check it out!
