16th May 2022 // King Carl XVI Gustaf and Prince Daniel visited the Royal University of Technology. At the university, students, researchers and faculties from all over the world develop innovative solutions to society’s biggest challenges. The visit began with a conversation about the conditions in Sweden for new knowledge and new ideas to be translated into innovations and entrepreneurship, and then met with representatives from research based start up companies.
16th May 2022 // The King and Crown Princess attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Royal Palace. The Foreign Affairs Committee is a consultative body between the Riksdag and the government, of which the King is chairman. The committee consists of the Speaker and nine other members from the Riksdag as well as nine deputies.
24th May 2022 // Members of the royal family including the King and Queen, the Crown Princess couple and Prince Carl Philip appear at the Polar Music Prize.
23rd May 2022 // The King and Crown Princess attended an Information Council meeting at the Royal Palace. During the council, each member presents an update on political initiatives, investigations and ongoing legislation within their respective ministries.
17th May 2022 // The King and Queen, Crown Princess couple, and Princely couple joined the President and First Lady of Finland for a welcome ceremony to start the State Visit from Finland. In a wonderful show of fashion diplomacy, Crown Princess Victoria wore a dress from Finnish brand Andiata and a brooch from Finnish jeweler Kirsti Doukas
Day 12 of the Olympics—Members of the Danish Royal Family and Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia watch the men’s handball quarterfinal match between Denmark and Sweden. The Swedes came out on top 24-22 and move on to the semis.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted 2019 Sweden Dinner
On September 20, 2019, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted the traditional Sweden Dinner (Sverigemiddag) at Stockholm Royal Palace. The aim of the Sweden Dinner is to honor people who have made significant local, regional or national contributions. About 200 guests were received and welcomed by the King, the Queen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at Queen Lovisa Ulrika’s Dining Hall. Among the guests, there were representatives from culture, industry, education and sports organisations in Sweden’s 21 counties, as well as county governors.
The Swedish Royal Court has announced an incoming state visit from Finland.
Upon the invitation from King Carl XVI Gustaf, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio will be in Stockholm on 17 and 18 May 2022.
The invitation comes as declarations from authorities of both countries that Sweden and Finland are beginning to consider joining NATO.
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has turned 74 today and to mark the occasion the royal household has released new portraits of the king and his wife, Queen Silvia.
