every time i see people talking about 3rd life like “oh yeah i never finished it i couldn’t really get into it” or whatever i’m like yeah that’s because you didn’t consume it the optimal way of watching grian’s entire series in one sitting, becoming rapidly attached to desert duo and then sitting there staring at the screen in shock after he kills himself
Canary!Jimmy angst good, I love it, I adore it so much, but I just. I think it’d be really funny if all of Jimmy’s friends genuinely think his power is some of the best entertainment they’ve ever had.
Grian is listing out people to invite to Third Life, remembers that he has a friend who sends every server hes on into chaos, destruction & death and immediately invites him because he just has to see what will happen. Scott sticking with Jimmy the whole game is half joked as him ‘taking one for the team’ and half ‘what if Scott is making himself immune to the curse?’ then they learn that, no, there is no such thing. Last Life starts up and Grian kills Jimmy mostly because he was getting bored. He proceeds to get absolutely ragged onfor ‘cheating.’
fWhip invites Jimmy to Empires just because he’s curious how they’ll work around the curse, and at first it’s only the Disc War, which is fine, they resolve it, and then they let their guard down. The world proceeds to then blow itself to smithereens, and everyone just whirls to Jimmy like “DUDE YOU CAN DO THAT??” but in a super excited way and Jimmy’s not got a thought going on in his head.
Grian invites Jimmy to Hardcore to see how it’ll all fall apart after he dies, before they realize that, oh, you can’t actually exploit Jimmy’s curse, because then it retaliates. Jimmy is extremely apologetic about this, but Joel and Scar are having the time of their life bullying Grian about thinking he could get the upper hand on the Harbinger’s curse of all things.
Y’all know the AU’s where Third/Last Life and Hermitcraft exist in the same universe? Let’s mix that in with Empires and Hardcore.
Everyone is cycling through different appearances at rapid fire. Grian is inviting people to Hardcore for funsies with a knife behind his back. Pearl is desperately trying to avoid that fate in the fear she’ll be the one person uniting them all. Joel is acting the exact same in every world. Jimmy is wondering if his canary-curse transcends into association after hearing about Big Moon. fWhip is worrying about how dangerous the people from Third/Last Life could be to Scott’s face because he can’t keep track of who’s from where. Ren is barely being held back from diving head-first into Empires. People are accidentally entering the wrong servers. All of the apocalypses are happening at the same time. It never ends.
3rd Life and Last Life are such wildly different in terms of vibes and rules on so many ways but man. Nothing will compare to when everyone was just figuring shit out on 3rd Life. They were running around looking for everyone to mess with the proximity chat. They were making monopolies on trees. They were making monopolies on sand. They were accidentally starting raids. They were desperately searching for cows while one guy hoarded them. They were making allies just because. They were making traps for fun and getting surprised when they actually killed someone. They were petrified of red names who were just confused about being alive. They were making up random lore. They were starting wars because they felt like it. They were somehow making everything connect despite it being unscripted. Unmatched. Unparalleled. It’s like when the first season of a show is made on like twenty dollars and lint before the second season got the thousand dollar budget boost to polish it off.
Personally, I think that everyone is missing out on the protentional that 100 hours hardcore is on the Last Life server. What if it wasn’t revamped? What if all the old structures were still there? Magical mountain is slowly crumbling away, too treacherous to climb now. Joel’s house is in disrepair, covered in dust and cobwebs. The Southlands has been eaten alive by the surrounding plants and fauna. The Fairy Fort has regrown itself. The underground tunnels and bunkers are still there, infested with mobs. There’s still a tree split in two, struck by lightning. Sometimes, you can almost smell burning flesh coming off of it.
Now, I COULD make the 100 Hours Hardcore smp angsty. Because, hey, they’re all playing on the repurposed Last Life server, Joel & Scar immediately tried to murder Grian, and if this wasn’t Grian we were talking about, I’d think they had something planned with all of this. Be as it may, the most ‘lore’ I’ve ever seen Grian give that wasn’t just him messing around and making something accidentally was big moon, and that doesn’t count because that was EVERYONES lore.
So no, I will not be making the 100 Hardcore worlds angsty. I think I will make it a sitcom. Grian’s bitter exes have come back from the dead and teamed up to beat the shit out of him. Mans is just trying to survive a Hardcore world but unfortunately he forgot to add in the ‘till death do us part’ for both of them so sheer pettiness is enough to keep them going.
We get the Joel and Scar team-up we missed in Last Life. Grian gets to know what it feels like when the hunter becomes the hunted. Scar is barely surviving out of sheer luck he credits to random ‘magical’ items he found. Joel is already amassing an army of wolves and refuses to give them up, and Scar has aquired a Jellie andalso refuses to give her up. Grian is begging for the 100 hours to go by quicker. It’s what they would’ve wanted.
