“I’m sorry,” fWhip says softly. “He… He’s gone.”
Jimmy’s stomach lurches. He had been expecting to reunite with Scott after the climactic battle with his demonic sibling, not to find fWhip returning from the battlefield alone, holding Scott’s bloodstained sword in his hands. “Wh- What? What do you mean…?”
“He sacrificed himself to save us all from Xornoth.” fWhip’s face holds the weight of intense grief and guilt, confirming Jimmy’s worst fears. “I’m sorry.”
The world starts to sway around Jimmy and he staggers back a few steps. It’s taking all his strength and energy to not collapse to his knees or pass out. It feels like the weight of a thousand boulders is pressing down on him. He coughs as his chest constricts, restricting his breathing. He’s painfully aware of every sensation in his body as his mind fights to find a way to rationalise what he’s just heard.
Scott can’t be… gone. He can’t be dead. He just can’t be.
“Jimmy.”
Jimmy is faintly aware of fWhip’s comforting hand on his shoulder but he brushes it off and stumbles back a few more steps. He’s about to break down and for all of fWhip’s understanding and patience, he doesn’t want to be around people when it happens.
So he takes off into the air, activating rocket after rocket in quick succession until he has none left, trying to get as far away as he can. But he can feel the tears starting to fall, obscuring his vision. He can’t hold back his pain anymore.
Half-blind and on the verge of hyperventilating, Jimmy flies until he can’t fly anymore, landing more neatly than he ever has on a hard surface that clearly isn’t grass. Blinking to clear his vision, Jimmy realises with a jolt where he is.
Rivendell.
Somehow, Jimmy got here. Something inside him had caused him to subconsciously fly straight here.
Almost tripping over a loose stone brick in the pathway, Jimmy wanders up the hill and enters Scott’s house using the key Scott had given him all those months ago. He heads straight up to Scott’s bedroom but he only just manages to sit down on Scott’s bed before the pain overwhelms him and he curls up in a ball on the bed, hugging one of Scott’s jackets to him and sobbing into it, trying to cling on to the memories contained within it.
He cries and he cries until he has no tears left inside him.

Jimmy slowly opens his eyes. It takes him a while to realise that he is back in his own bed, with a note beside him. It says “found you at Scott’s and brought you home. i’m here for you, okay? don’t suffer alone. fWhip.”
Taking in a deep breath, Jimmy rubs his dry eyes. He must have fallen asleep.
After a moment, he gets up off his bed and heads to his wardrobe. After taking off his regal garb, he changes into casual trousers and a white t-shirt, unable to bring himself to pretend to be royalty any longer. This world will not last much longer anyway.
As he passes his bed, intending to start packing up, something catches his eye. Scott’s jacket, lying next to where Jimmy had just woken up. He must have been clutching it when fWhip brought him here.
After a moment, he picks it up and dusts it off. Something about it seems to call to him, as if Scott’s very spirit is near him right this moment.
So he puts it on.
He checks himself out in the mirror. Scott’s jacket suits him very well, despite looking slightly smaller on him as it was on Scott. It just seems to be the last missing piece of the puzzle that Jimmy didn’t realise was incomplete.
Finally, he lets himself give a small smile. The pain has not faded in the slightest, and Jimmy knows he will spend many many more nights crying himself to sleep. But he feels closer to Scott now. Knowing that Scott wore this jacket, loved this jacket, and now Jimmy is wearing this jacket. Something about it helps ease the pain even just a tiny bit.
i feel like. im glad that alsmp isnt story heavy. mostly bc its not meant to be but also cause thru listening to the podcast it seems like they really wanted to have a break from planning story and writing so they could come back at empires s2 full force.
which- yes. thats fuckin excellent im so glad you’re respecting your boundaries and giving yourself time to breathe and make things at your own pace because Nothing kills a story faster than the writer being displeased with it/rushed/ etc.

i love scott’s character in empires. he mentions not handling rejection well ONE TIME and the universe is like “oh? you have rejection issues? well guess what. the demon that has been terrorizing your friends, that’s your brother. also, the guy you’re a reincarnation of kinda sucks. OH also! here are some magic ice powers that freeze every place you stay in for too long meaning you can’t visit your friends without the risk of freezing their empires. also you have a crush now. fuck you.
Some exciting changes are coming to Video Blogging RPF over the next few weeks! We are happy to announce that Dream SMP, 3rd Life | Last Life SMP Series, Empires SMP, and a number of other Survival Multiplayer (SMP) Minecraft roleplay fandoms will be getting their very own fandom tags. These changes will be starting 10 May 2022, beginning with Dream SMP.
We want to thank you for your patience both in getting to this point, and in the coming weeks as these changes take place! Our volunteers have worked hard towards this change since 2021, and we will do our best to make this transition go as smoothly as possible.
How will the Fandom tags change?
Many SMPs have their own rich lore that is separate from what is going on in the content creators’ lives. In the past, everything has been housed in Video Blogging RPF, but that doesn’t recognize that there is more than just RPF in these fandoms. We are creating new tags so that you have a place to explore the fictional lives of the characters in these worlds.
Other SMPs that are not listed below may also get fandom tags eventually. We are constantly evaluating new SMPs as their fandoms grow, and we plan to continue making more fandom tags for them in the future. Just keep tagging the SMPs your work takes place in as a fandom so that we know how big the fandom is!
If you already use a fandom tag like “Dream SMP” or “Last Life” on your fic, your works will be filterable and searchable under the new fandom tags once we finish moving everything! These new SMP fandoms will be set up as subfandoms of Video Blogging RPF. If you are only using the Video Blogging RPF or Minecraft tag, we recommend either adding or replacing that with the relevant SMP fandoms - although if you’d prefer, you can of course just keep your work in Video Blogging RPF.
Here is a list of the new fandom tags, if you would like to update your works now!
*The currently existing Hermitcraft RPF fandom will be renamed to Hermitcraft SMP, so that wranglers will be able to make use of the new SMP guidelines.
Additionally, users will not be required to retag their works. This means that you should not report a work to Policy & Abuse that does not use the new SMP tags.
How will the Character tags change?
Because it can be confusing and difficult to find works about characters when their character tags are only a content creator’s real name, we will be renaming characters of these new SMP fandoms to include usernames. Here are a few of the planned character tag changes:

Phil Watson (Video Blogging RPF) → Phil Watson | Philza
Brendan Thro → Brendan Thro | Sneegsnag
John Booko → John Booko | BdoubleO100

Unfortunately, we are not able to create separate tags for the streamer’s main RP characters at this time. Any Technoblade (Dream SMP), Technoblade (SMP Earth) etc tags will still continue to redirect to Technoblade (Video Blogging RPF).
From a wrangling perspective, it is difficult to distinguish when tags are referring to the character or to the content creator when the character and the streamer’s username are the same. This is especially true when it comes to relationship or freeform tags involving the character/streamer, and because often two different works will use the same tag to mean different things. For example, if a work is tagged Technoblade-centric, we cannot tell if they are talking about Technoblade the streamer, or his Technoblade character from Dream SMP, or his Technoblade character from Origins SMP, or even his Technoblade character from SMPEarth. In addition, we would not want creators to feel like they need to tag multiple variations of Technoblade’s RP characters if the work involves an ambiguous AU version of his RP personas - and that issue would only further compound across relationship and freeform tags. However, we hope the creation of RP fandom tags can be used as an alternative by creators to show if their works are about the RP characters. We also hope that they can help users filter for the content they are looking for, or filter out any content they are looking to avoid.
However, sometimes a content creator will play other characters that have distinct names - like Dream also playing the characters of DreamXD and Ranbob. Right now those characters are both redirected to the “Clay | Dream” tag, but they, and others like them, will now be getting new character tags of their own.
NPCs such as Xornoth or the Samsung Smart Fridge, and Minecraft mob characters like Sally the Salmon or Michael_Beloved the Piglin, who previously did not have tags at all, will also soon get character tags.
This should make it easier to find works about a variety of characters! If you’re already using tags like Ghostbur, Ranbob, or Sally the Salmon, you won’t have to make any changes for your works to be searchable under the new tags.
How will the Additional tags change?
Additional tags related to the SMPs will be adjusted to use the new fandoms. Here are some examples:
Logstedshire on Dream Team SMP (Video Blogging RPF) → Logstedshire (Dream SMP)
Empire of Pixandria on Empires SMP Setting (Video Blogging RPF) → Empire of Pixandria (Empires SMP)
The Maze on Outsiders SMP (Video Blogging RPF) → The Maze (Outsiders SMP)
NPCs, Alter Egos, and mobs can now get additional tags of their own, such as this:
Winged Xornoth (Empires SMP)
Simp DreamXD (Dream SMP)
Ghostbur-Centric (Dream SMP)
We know this is a big change, and we hope that it will make it a lot easier to navigate the various SMP fandoms and find the works you’re looking for. Please remember that, while we believe that these new canonical tags will help, you are not required to use them. We hope that these new tags will provide more ease of access, clarity, and visibility than what is currently in place.
Once again, thank you for your patience in the coming weeks while these tags are in flux. Our team has been working on this for many months, and we’re all very excited to share these changes with you!
TL;DR:
Several Minecraft SMPs will get their own fandoms.
Streamers of those SMPs will have their tags edited to include their usernames.
Alter-egos, NPCs, and mob characters of those SMPs will be canonized in these new SMP fandoms.
Please be patient with us, as implementing this many changes will take some time!
Canary!Jimmy angst good, I love it, I adore it so much, but I just. I think it’d be really funny if all of Jimmy’s friends genuinely think his power is some of the best entertainment they’ve ever had.
Grian is listing out people to invite to Third Life, remembers that he has a friend who sends every server hes on into chaos, destruction & death and immediately invites him because he just has to see what will happen. Scott sticking with Jimmy the whole game is half joked as him ‘taking one for the team’ and half ‘what if Scott is making himself immune to the curse?’ then they learn that, no, there is no such thing. Last Life starts up and Grian kills Jimmy mostly because he was getting bored. He proceeds to get absolutely ragged onfor ‘cheating.’
fWhip invites Jimmy to Empires just because he’s curious how they’ll work around the curse, and at first it’s only the Disc War, which is fine, they resolve it, and then they let their guard down. The world proceeds to then blow itself to smithereens, and everyone just whirls to Jimmy like “DUDE YOU CAN DO THAT??” but in a super excited way and Jimmy’s not got a thought going on in his head.
Grian invites Jimmy to Hardcore to see how it’ll all fall apart after he dies, before they realize that, oh, you can’t actually exploit Jimmy’s curse, because then it retaliates. Jimmy is extremely apologetic about this, but Joel and Scar are having the time of their life bullying Grian about thinking he could get the upper hand on the Harbinger’s curse of all things.
Y’all know the AU’s where Third/Last Life and Hermitcraft exist in the same universe? Let’s mix that in with Empires and Hardcore.
Everyone is cycling through different appearances at rapid fire. Grian is inviting people to Hardcore for funsies with a knife behind his back. Pearl is desperately trying to avoid that fate in the fear she’ll be the one person uniting them all. Joel is acting the exact same in every world. Jimmy is wondering if his canary-curse transcends into association after hearing about Big Moon. fWhip is worrying about how dangerous the people from Third/Last Life could be to Scott’s face because he can’t keep track of who’s from where. Ren is barely being held back from diving head-first into Empires. People are accidentally entering the wrong servers. All of the apocalypses are happening at the same time. It never ends.

Here’s something a little different. I’ve been working on this one for a while, and now I can share my interpretation of my favourite empire on the server! First off we’ve got Mezalean trade ships crossing the Ocean Queen’s domain, approaching the distant Anthill and the glittering copper roofs of the Pixandrian port. And then of course there’s the Vigil!
My own headcanon is that Mezalea’s ships dye their sails just as brightly as everything else as a display of the kingdom’s wealth and grandeur, so I used my own design of their banner to decorate the sails. And in the fantasy map that Pixlriffs uses in his videos sometimes it shows that while the kingdom of Pixandria borders the coast, the “heart” of the kingdom is much further inland, in the shadow of the Anthill, so they would probably have these thriving, culturally rich port cities that are the nation’s main gate to the outside world. Mezalea, as one of their allies, trades dyes and terracotta in exchange for copper—and while they still use hot air balloons for travel, the blessings of the Ocean Queen ensure that trips by sea are almost always smooth.
When it comes to the Vigil, I love the idea of it as a solemn monument in an otherwise bustling city where the Pixandrian citizens can come to find a quiet moment. I really enjoyed designing the copper lanterns!
One of my favourite parts of the Empires fandom is the worldbuilding, so I thought I’d join in! I’ve never really tried painting an environment-focused scene like this before and I had a ton of fun adapting Pixlriffs’ builds in my own way :3 Let me know what you think!
