wtnv was incrediblyy ahead of the curve in a lot of ways and it continues to be almost a decade later and i REFUSE to let yall slander it like this. it isnt even a horror podcast it’s a comedy with horror elements but it was never meant to be scary. the way that wtnv also does satire so well n the scathing critiques of contemporary society (esp the surveillance state)….. just say u never understood what it was (is & continues to be) abt and go lol no need to embarrass urself

here is a potentially hard to swallow pill. you might think i sound like an asshole if you are a trans ally hatereading me or if you are a radfem/gencrit person who is hellbent on being mega nice, but bear with me.

i think many ppl kinda agree with a lot of what radfems and other gender critical ppl have to say, but at a certain point they stop themselves from doing so because they feel too guilty to view trans ppl as who they are, ppl roleplaying something based on a homophobic/misogynistic ideology.. because they see them as oppressed people. many ppl do treat trans ppl like shit. so the natural conclusion for someone progressive and kind has to be to want to defend and protect them, right?

two things point to no.

1) there is nothing special about the hardships trans ppl face. gay people get teased, bullied, ostracized and killed. any gender nonconforming person who “looks/acts gay” might in fact get bullied and hurt by ppl, even if they are straight. “cis” women - yknow, the ones with “cis/tme privilege” - definitely get abused, humiliated, tortured and murdered on a mass scale, every day, everywhere in the world. trans people are absolutely not special for not having it easy.

2) you dont choose the colour of your skin, where you were born, what sex you are born as, which sex you are attracted to, whether you are born disabled / become disabled because of an accident or an illness… but you dont have to be trans. you can in fact just choose to stop doing all that any second lmao. “i am oppressed on grounds of having spent a fortune on cosmetic surgery and demanding that ppl use the wrong name and wrong pronouns for me.” okay baby. stop doing that then. “but i have dysphoria” okay, look up some of the one million resources on how to deal with that in healthier ways that dont include making the whole world play along with a weird little roleplay with you.
