i think more characters should have canes actually. theyre cool. theyre sexy. they can have swords in them. they come in any color u want.
hi im stepping in as ur local cane user and i just wanna quickly add this about cane swords: if someone is putting weight onto their cane, they almost definitely aren’t using a cane sword (some exceptions may be possible). this is because the usual cane sword is made hollow with a relatively flimsy exterior metal as to not scrape against the interior sword, and thus the handle is typically the only solid part.
trust me–i’ve been on the lookout for a sturdy cane sword for years that would be practical for use and everytime i could feel it struggling under pressure.
it makes it relatively unreliable as a cane for the majority of people who use canes…. however! there is a neat alternative!
you can instead opt for a trusty knife hidden in the top of the cane, therefore making the rest of the cane sturdier to use, and, additionally, less likely to be checked when passing security. another fantastic cane that a friend of mine has actually unscrews the handle to reveal a tiny compartment that fits a small bottle. she mentioned it’s an antique, so we theorized that it was for cocaine back in the day, but it could fit other things (cyanide, maybe for a disabled spy character?)
also, as someone who also is trained in sword-based self defense: i find that i can relatively translate most basic strikes using my cane, if needed. just something to use….
what i’m getting at is there are lots of ways to expand upon epic cane usages.
based on an earlier post about parallels
oh hey i forgot i had an art blog. anyway birds
Lucretia in “The Moon and the Stars” dress by Frieda Leopold. This was a really fun drawing and my first time drawing velvet! I hope you like it too! <3
[ID: Digital drawing of Lucretia. She is a dark-skinned woman with short white hair and dark eyes; she’s wearing a dark gown with puffy sleeves that tighten around her forearms and a corset-like waist. The chest area of the dress and forearms are covered in sparkles. Lucretia is turned slightly right and clasps her hands in front of her. The background is blue, and circles radiate outwards from Lucretia’s body. /ID]

Taz Balance AU where the Reclaimers are constantly wearing graphic tees they’ve owned for upwards of a decade and the Director is Dying. Highlights include:
- Madame Director: “And this is my butler, Davenport” All three boys, pointing dramatically at Magnus’s “If found, please return to Davenport” shirt: “EYYYY! :D” (note: there are exactly six copies of that shirt in existence. Davenport has a matching shirt that says “I’m Davenport” He doesn’t wear it anymore)
- Carey: “I didn’t know you had a sibling, Taako.” Taako, wearing his third favorite “I’m the cool twin” shirt (the one with glitter but no rhinestones): “What are you talking about I’m an only child”
- All three of them show up to training wearing identical shirts with a photo of the entire Starblaster Crew riding a roller coaster screenprinted on the front. Neither rollercoasters nor photography exist on this planet.
- The boys try to convince Kravitz that they aren’t death criminals. It’s hindered by the fact that Merle’s shirt says “I’ve had a lot of ideas, and only 50 of them killed me!” with the 0 repeatedly crossed out and replaced with increasingly higher numbers
- Somebody wakes Lucretia up in the middle of the night to deal with a crisis and she’s wearing a shirt that says “I Survived the Destruction of my Home Planet and All I Got was this Stupid T-Shirt”. They assume that the staticked out bit is a voidfish joke.
Taako and Lup never call Lucretia by her full name.
It’s always nicknames.
Always.
Over the years, they’ve come up with an array of nicknames for her, but never Lucretia.
-Lu
-Luca
-Lulu
-Luce
-Lucy
-L
-L-dog
-‘Creesh
-‘Creesha
etc.
No matter what, it was always a nickname
At the beginning of the Crystal Kingdom arc, Taako, Magnus and Merle learn ‘Madame Director’s” real name
And for the first time ever, Taako calls her “Lucretia”.
And Lucretia tells him it’s unprofessional, and that she is Madame Director
And then she excuses herself

ID: A digital comic. First image is of Magnus, Taako, Lup, Lucretia, and Merle resting on a mall bench with a bunch of shopping bags. Magnus and Lucretia sitting opposite their companions. They all look in various degrees of bored and tiredness. Merle, a dwarf man, is asleep. Magnus, a human man, rests his head on his arms as his hands. Taako, an elven man in a wizard hat and a hoodie, mutters, “Who’s great idea was it to give the van keys to Barold and Capt'n Port? It’s gonna take like, two hours to track them down.” Lup, holding a cellphone in one hand, raises her other hand to her face and shouts, “BLUE!” into the air. The second image shows a zoomed-out view of the group in the center of the busy mall. The following panel shows the same view, now with a word bubble from somewhere on the second floor, a responding “JEANS!” The third image zooms back in on the crew, all looking puzzled about the shouting, save Merle, who is still asleep. End ID.
