the reason The Magicians is so good is because it has legitimately relatable characters
From the root of the whole story being a very young millennial (allllllllllmost Gen Z) obsessed with the Fillory books, and having a hard time growing up and dealing with the real world as well as very real mental illness and feelings of isolation because he doesn’t fit in, it’s relatable.
Us young millennial and older gen z young adults have that same experience with the Narnia books, books that continue to have lasting similarities to the Fillory story.
But even more then that, The Magicians is about found families (specifically at college), people with good and bad parents, those who are affluent and poor, straight gay and everything in between, people who have nothing to connect them outside of their field of study coming together and forming a group that spans worlds, timelines, and species.
From the level of dumbassery, to the way they speak, so the half nihilist, half optimist outlook they all seem to have on life, they are all wholly relatable.
I would argue it’s one of the best shows on television, if not the best representation I’ve ever seen.

Magicians have a handy ace up their sleeve: your brain! And they’re not the only ones who know how to use it.
I drew some posters for the Zatanna movie based off of old Magician posters. I tgink that would be a really clever and interesting choice if all her posters were homage’s to classic magicians.

Investigations into the disappearance of author Ambrose Bierce lead police to rounding up any magician who uses trap doors or secret compartments in their act.
Maybe it’s best that the show is ending. No point in running the story further into the ground with more seasons. Probably best to just remember the good times.

I’m usually fully into the Katsucrunch right now and that’s super depressing. I keep thinking about what the popular cosplays would have been, what trends will just be completely slipped over… Can you imagine how many Gamestop themed cosplays there would be?
I miss the whole atmosphere. People wanting to talk to me for some reason. Old friends crashing the booth and making me feel super old. Having 4 redbulls a day and accepting that I was probably going to get the con flu.
Will we ever get to have photos with our favorite celebrities? I’ll never forget the feeling of Mark Hamill putting his arms around me and my bestie for a photo. That’s not really a safe option anymore.
Okay scientists and doctors, please make this go away thx bye.

Honestly I haven‘t watched a single episode of season 5 because I‘m still in denial over Q‘s death but hearing that the show gets cancelled after this season made me laugh out loud in a triumphant way.
Because as much as I used to love the magicians - they had it coming. I‘m going to watch season 5 one day but I‘m kind of glad the show died after taking Q and Queliot and positive messages about surviving mental illness away from us.
Same. Haven’t been interested in the show since they killed off Q. And maybe it’s wrong to base my like of a show completely on my love for one single character, but thats the way I am. When the Magicians removed both my fav character (Q) and my fav ship (queliot) from the show, I removed myself in return.
