Falling Into You

by sunshine_sparrow (also on twitter)

art by @angie-s-g (rebloggable original art post here, y’all)

M, 9k, sangcheng

Summary:“Come onnn, Cheng-Cheng,” Wei Wuxian whined. “It’s just swimming! Don’t you miss the water?”

Jiang Cheng hesitated. It was always the hardest part of coming to summer camp—the lack of a pool for him to spend all of his free time in. Gusu had gorgeous lakes and rivers, but no dedicated pool, and two months with only some occasional, extremely monitored recreational swimming was torture.

“Well…” And then he gave in, as Wei Wuxian had known he would. “All right. But only for a little bit! And we definitely have to be back in bed for bed check!”

Wei Wuxian whooped, letting go of Jiang Cheng’s shoulders to dance ahead of them, spinning in a circle with his arms raised. “Yes! It’s gonna be so much fun!”

-

Every summer, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian attend the Gusu Academy summer camp for young cultivators. This summer, though, will be their first year in the senior camp. It’ll definitely be just the same as every other year, for Jiang Cheng; no awkward feelings or unexpected revelations will be discovered. Definitely not. I mean, it’s summer camp; soft confessions and sweet kisses never happen at summer camps, right?

❤️you mean to make a puppet of me

T, 31k, wangxian, background sangcheng

Summary:  Lan Wangji tried to look around, but found that he was immobilized. Not panicking, because he was a powerful cultivator who did not need to panic, Lan Wangji attempted to break the immobilization with his golden core.

Only to realize that his core, while intact, was blocked.

He attempted to move his fingers.

Nothing.

No matter what part of himself Lan Wangji attempted to move or wiggle, he received no response from his body.

Still not panicking, really not at all, Lan Wangji tried to parse what he could see in front of him, without moving his eyes.

There was a shelf that appeared to be almost half the size of Koi Tower in front of him, but before he began not panicking about that, he realized that no. The shelf was not a gigantic piece of furniture. It was Lan Wangji who was abnormally sized.

He had, in fact, gone from standing over two bu high, to measuring perhaps a single chi in length.

He was tiny .

Lan Wangji began to panic.
**
In which Lan Wangji is cursed to be marionette puppet and transported to a different universe, where he is picked up by an alluring and kind puppeteer with a mysterious past…

My comments: This was a gift for me ❤️!@therealfailwhale was my author for MDZS RBB @mdzsrbb this year, and look what they produced!!!

This one is a hoot from the very first sentence. It is fluffy and fun, and features a thirsty Lan Wangji who is so. FRUSTRATED. that his teeny size is preventing him from acting on his thoughts. Heh heh heh.

Lan Wangji is just happy he’s no longer wooden, okay; Wei Wuxian is entirely smitten; Jiang Cheng is shouty and confused; Nie Huaisang has secrets; and I am just along for the ride. Two world collide, herein, and the mashup is greater than the sum of its parts. (And. AND! This charming story was written for my art, for the MDZS RBB, and I’m so honored and delighted and happy about that. I want to share it with everyone.)

Excerpt:  Wei Wuxian pulled Lan Wangji away from his chest and held him up to look into his tiny face.

“You hear that, you beautiful man? You’re coming home with me!” Wei Wuxian grinned widely, and glanced up at Jiang Cheng. “Didi! Meet my husband!”

“You can’t marry a puppet!” shouted Jiang Cheng, as Lan Wangji felt a desire to hide his face.

Summary:“A-Ying,” Lan Wangji says quietly, trying to gauge whether the boy is asleep. Even as the boy’s figure tenses and his head peaks out from the rest of his body to look around, he doesn’t stop shaking. His clothes are wet, Lan Wangji can see in the candlelight, clinging to his skin. Winter has not yet passed. The boy must be freezing.

“Hello?” A-Ying asks hesitantly, looking around. His eyes are big, but despite some suspicion in their depths, the boy mostly looks curious.

“Hello, A-Ying,” Lan Wangji says kindly. “I heard that you prayed to me.”

Summary: Wei Wuxian’s question echoed in his thoughts again.
Do you think he’s at all happy?
Nie Huaisang had wanted to be happy once. It was all he had wanted, really. A life with a loving partner filled with wine and art and music. He hadn’t wanted to lead the sect, hadn’t wanted to throw his life away to a cause—and yet here he was. He really was like da-ge in some ways. Ruthless to a fault.
But he was not dead.
Nie Huaisang set his fan down and picked up the letter from Jiang Wanyin, folding it back into its original shape and tapping it thoughtfully against his mouth.
He wondered if it was too late for happiness. Whether Jiang Wanyin might like to help him find it—help himself find it with Nie Huaisang. He hadn’t been mistaken in the desire he’d seen in Jiang Wanyin’s eyes.
He desperately wanted to see how far it could take them.

❤️The Book’s Cover

by Eudoxia

art by… me!

E, 50k, wangxian

Summary:Lan Sizhui meets a servant on a night hunt at Mo Manor. Though this servant has a rather plain-looking, forgettable face, Lan Sizhui quickly learns why one should never judge a book by its cover.
–or–
After being resurrected by the rather plain-looking, gap-toothed Li Wenxiao, Wei Wuxian has to contend with constant dismissals of his skill and intelligence. Luckily for him, Hanguang-Jun is willing to stand by his side no matter what. If only Wei Wuxian could figure out why…

Part 1 of Help! I’ve Been Resurrected as a Dinosaur-meimei!

My comments: ❤️This was written for my art-prompt and I love it SO. MUCH. The idea of wwx resurrecting as a homely woman has haunted me for years, because there’s such fertile ground there to explore. And Eudoxia did it with verve. This fic has everything: unexpectedly-female wwx, humor, adorable juniors, utterly smitten and thirsty lwj, philosophy on gender, shameless wangxian…. And more coming up in the series! (Which is great, because I cannot get enough!)

Excerpt 1:“So polite, Lan-gongzi. This one is called Li Wenxiao. Just call me whatever, I don’t mind. In fact, most people I meet call me gongzi or xiansheng, on account of my face!” She laughs, pointing a finger at her bright smile.

Lan Sizhui frowns, studying her face for a moment. It’s a very plain, boring face; round cheeks, a bit of a second chin when she smiles, thick eyebrows, peach blossom eyes. There’s a small but noticeable gap between her two front teeth when she smiles. Overall, a rather forgettable face. Lan Sizhui can’t help but think it’s a little tragic that a young woman—perhaps only ten years his senior—would be unlucky enough to have such a face.

Excerpt 2:Lan Jingyi grabs his arm, shaking him as he hisses, “What do you mean you don’t know? Look at how familiar they are! Hanguang-jun is guiding Li Wenxiao’s donkey! He may as well be,”—Lan Jingyi struggles for words, waving his arms in the air like he’s juggling, before he finally says—“caressing her face! I don’t know! Who isshe?”

canon divergence, resurrected as a girl, wei wuxian comes back as a girl, POV multiple, female wei wuxian, adorable juniors, teacher wei wuxian, (not officially but he is SUCH a teacher), lan sizhui is the best boy, gender and philosophy, oblivious wei wuxian, genderqueer wei wuxian, shameless lan wangji, demisexual lan wangji, some very light and well-earned lan xichen bashing, light angst, thirsty lan wangji, pining, love confessions, getting together, idiots in love, doting lan wangji, het smut, favorite, @eudoxiav @mdzsrbb

art by lumiink (rebloggable original art post here, y’all)

E, 15k, wangxian

Summary:  Wei Ying’s eyebrows lift at the sight but Lan Wangji is focused on the flattened grasses at the base of the tree where he found Wei Ying. In his mind, he sees the too-still body, hears A-Yuan’s sobs, and has to breath through a sudden constriction around his chest.

Never had his feelings felt more sharp than when he held Wei Ying in his arms, so close to death. Everything had crystallized in that moment and he knew, most likely in the same way his father had known all those years ago, that he could not be without this person.

A brush with death reveals more than Wei Wuxian plans for and forces Lan Wangji to face his feelings.

Summary: “Zizhen, does this hill have a name?”

“No, Wei-tongling; or, at least, not one that I am aware of.”

“That doesn’t seem right. The sight of a heroic last stand deserves to have a name – something that will sound good in the history books.” Wei Wuxian looked around, his eyes moving from man to horse to tent, as if cataloguing everything before it was lost. “I’m going to call it Luanzang Hill. What do you think?”

Ouyang Zizhen shivered. “Don’t you think that’s a little…morbid?”

“Morbid? Not at all.” Wei Wuxian tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, knuckles pushing whitely through the skin. “I think it’s very fitting. Unless this new strategist the Emperor has sent for can work some kind of miracle, we are all going to die here.”

Trapped and outnumbered, things look grim for the men of the Changlin army unit and their commander, Wei Wuxian. There’s a new strategist on the way, but even he can’t work miracles…can he?

Summary:When Wei Wuxian vows to protect Lotus Pier and the Jiang family, there’s nothing he won’t do to keep them free from harm. But something goes wrong during his golden core transfer, and he finds himself waking up… changed. Now it’s not just enough to hide his slowly decaying body from Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli in his quest to ensure they’ll be safe—he’ll also need to prove to Lan Wangji that he can maintain some semblance of control for long enough to make it through this war before his spirit must be liberated.

But is he really strong enough to resist the Yin Iron’s pull when the odds against him seem insurmountable?

And will his family ever be safe enough for him to willingly let go?

“What was it again that brought you to Qinghe?” Nie Huaisang lifted a cup of freshly poured tea to his lips. He blew lightly before taking a sip.

Jiang Cheng swallowed and glanced away to brush an imaginary speck of dust from his sleeve. Those lips would be his undoing if he looked at them any longer.

“I was in the area.”

“We’re quite far from Yunmeng,” Nie Huaisang noted. He tilted his head with a smile. “Following Jin-xiao-gongzi on another night hunt? He hates that, you know.”

“He’s a teenager. He hates everything.” Jiang Cheng meant it as a quip but like most things, it came out as more of a jab. Nie Huaisang laughed anyway, the corners of his eyes crinkled delightfully, and Jiang Cheng was sure he’d never heard a sound nor seen a sight more lovely. It took every bit of his self control not to let his face soften. The journey to the Unclean Realm, of which he had of course undertaken for the sole purpose of getting a glimpse of Nie Huaisang, was undoubtedly worth it just to witness such a thing.

This is an illustration I’ve been sitting on for MONTHS, because it was for the Reverse Big Bang event, where artists make art and lovely authors like @edenwolfie write fics for it.

BABE WAKE UP MERMAIDS ARE REAL

“How am I still alive?” Lan Wangji finally asked, after a long period of silence. Wei Wuxian almost startled then, as if not expecting him to speak, and the merman’s eyes narrowed in thought. His tail fans rippled out as well, and the red glow slid back and forth against the dark walls.

“Magic,” Wei Wuxian said after a moment. “I’ll explain better - later.” His smile was lopsided and shameless.

Lan Wangji is a deep-sea diver. Wei Wuxian is a merman who saves his life. It’s funny how these things happen.

Art for the MDZS Reverse Big Bang 2022!

The fic is “Cut Him Out in Little Stars” by the lovely @wwxadhd who ended up writing a 69k words masterpiece.

With WWX’s soul tied to a comet, LWJ chooses to become immortal. This is a story about how they manage to meet in the middle, whenever the comet reaches its perihelion.

Alternatively: from canon era to space era - 2000 years of edging ;)

Art and fic are retweetable here

wwxadhd:

And when he shall die

Take him, and cut him out in little stars…

Wei Wuxian dies.

There are no witnesses beyond the other dead, and they’re not talking. His mind and soul are too broken even to take it in himself, and so the tree falls in the forest with no one around, and whether it makes a sound or not doesn’t matter.

Word of his death travels loud and fast, and thousands of voices cry out in joy and relief.

One voice has no words to express its grief.

Thousands of hearts rise in jubilation, lighter than they have been in years.

One sinks heavier than a stone into the bottomless sea.

Impossibly far away, in the deep empty nothingness of space, something very strange happens.

Perhaps the ball of rock and ice was already there, left over from the startled creation of everything. Perhaps it coalesced out of the void at the last beat of Wei Wuxian’s weary heart. No one was there to witness it, so it doesn’t matter.

What happens is this: Wei Wuxian wakes up.

He is alone. Blind, for he has no eyes, and even if he did he is in darkness. Deaf, for he has no ears, and even if he did, sound does not exist out here.

He is aware of himself and his surroundings in ways that are as old as time but entirely new to him. He feels without nerves the gravity of distant enormities and the vastness of the space between them. He perceives his own utter solitude.

He thinks without neurons: Good.

It is correct, he knows, for him to be here, like this. There is justice to it.

He still, somehow, feels the grief and the shame, although he no longer has the glands to release the hormones to shake his frail human body with those feelings.

That is good too, he thinks, that he doesn’t get a break from those things. He wants one, of course. It’s upsetting to still have consciousness, after death. But he’s aware that he deserves it.

He sits with that for a while. Or floats, or whatever it is he does now. There are no days here, or any other measure of time, so there’s no way to know how long he sits with it.

There’s something else as well, he comes to realize, built into the very core of him in this new self, this clod of dust and grieving stone.

There is a question: where to now?

He doesn’t know where the question comes from. From himself, perhaps, or from something else. Some god, perhaps, although what kind of god would inhabit this emptiness?

He is perfectly balanced here: barely, impossibly still. All it will take is the tiniest impulse in any direction and he will go, and go forever. There is nothing to stop him, and only his own will to start him.

He can tell, he realizes, where his old home is. Not by the subtle pull of gravity, but by something deeper and stranger. He knows, though, beyond doubt. It’s all there, everything he’s ever known: all the joys and sorrows, all the rage and failure of his short, violent life. Jiang Cheng is there. Lan Zhan. All that’s left of his Shijie, and A-Yuan, Wen Ning and Wen Qing. Dust, like his old body. Like his new body too.

It’s so far away. He has no idea where ‘here’ is; there are no directions here except one: home. And home is so very, very far away it seems diminished to almost nothing. The smallest pinprick imaginable, in a black cloak that goes on forever in all directions.

Less than a speck, all that he’s ever wanted and had and lost.

Huh, he thinks.

For a moment he wonders what would happen if he chose the direction opposite that connection. He could put himself even farther away. Farther and farther and farther.

There might be wonderous things.

There might be nothing.

He discovers himself, strangely, even after everything, to be curious.

But he is who he is in more than just his curiosity, even when he’s a frozen dustball in the infinite depths of fathomless darkness.

So he tips himself towards home, and Wei Wuxian becomes a comet.

Summary:

After his death, Wei Wuxian is reborn as a comet.

He returns again and again, trying to connect with his loved ones on Earth.

As time passes, he struggles to hold onto himself and his connections, and to find a way back home for good.

The art that inspired this fic is by Step, and is embedded at the end of Chapter One. Check it out, it’s gorgeous!

The last teaser snippet before the fic posts tomorrow! This fic contains not just scifi-ish elements and existential musings, but also–what’s that? Smut? Yes, smut! How does that work if Wei Wuxian is a comet? You can find out tomorrow.

“Patience,” Lan Wangji murmurs against his lips.

“Are you talking to me or yourself?” Wei Wuxian grins, nuzzling against him.

There’s a gold gleam too close to focus on as Lan Wangji opens his eyes, then without answering the question he stands, hauls Wei Wuxian to his feet by his wrist and the back of his neck, then scoops him up into his arms like he weighs nothing, Wei Wuxian’s trousers hanging foolishly around his ankles, one boot halfway off.

Lan Wangji slides the front door open with a foot.

“Hey, Lan Zhan, we were outside for all of that?” Wei Wuxian asks as his brain finally realizes the rest of the universe exists.

“Mn.”

“Someone could have seen!” he cries as Lan Wangji carries him into the cool incense-fragrant interior.

“That would have been educational for them,” Lan Wangji responds. Wei Wuxian laughs again, and the way Lan Wangji holds him a little closer and smiles his small, fond smile is so private and precious.

The second snippet of the day for my upcoming RBB fic in which Wei Wuxian has become a comet!

Closer and closer; hot, then hotter, then so unbelievably hot that there’s no room for thought or even fear beyond the heat. It’s not quite hot enough, though, to burn away his resolution. He holds onto the name Lan Zhan even as the whole outer surface of him sparks and sizzles away in violent fractals.

Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan.

Gradually, amazingly, the heat recedes.

He circles the inferno, and it doesn’t consume him.

Once again, Wei Wuxian emerges on the far side of hell. There’s less of him than there was, but not much less. He moves away from the sun, and as he does the bleeding lessens: his tail grows shorter and shorter. His whole form seems to contract and solidify, little by little.

The name Lan Zhan echoes in his consciousness, and he gradually remembers why.

He remembers himself. He remembers his love, and his anger.

All right, he tells the gods. I hope you’re ready for me now.
