Nice interview with journalist Günther Michels aka @vagabundler about my work and projects !!!… Thank you so much

* REPOST. The art and photos of Dulce Ramirez aka Mujer Gato are fascinating, also quite weird and often like from another world. The actress and model is originally from Mexico, but lives at the moment in Germany. Back from home she brought the “Dia de los Muertos” and is doing exhibitions about it frequently, as well as photographer or as photo object herself. The shootings she is doing are just unique and absolutely different. Check out the interview with @mujergato-world-us ! *

“Muxe: pronounced - (Mu-sha) is a Zapotec word for a third gender. I ran across the Muxe while doing research for another project and became fascinated by the elaborate traditional costumes. Everything I had seen of the Muxe was very journalistic in nature and I decided to travel down to the southern state of Oaxaca to do something beautiful for these women. I had full size paper flower frames created and asked the women to dress in their finest for this series of portraits.” - Mark Holthusen

“I have to sing, I have to play. The music, it’s not just in me, it is me. When life gets me down, I play my guitar. The rest of the world may follow the rules, but I must follow my heart. You know that feeling, like there’s a song in the air and it’s playing just for you. I hope you like it.”

The Maya ‘Wall of Skulls’ (Tzompantli) at Chichén Itzá, Yucatan, Mexico.

Tzompantlimeans “skull racks” in Nahuatl, and were described by the horrified Spanish conquistadors. This Mesoamerican architectural form is usually found in central Mexico during the Postclassic Period, where they were often made of the real skulls of sacrificed people. Low platforms with carved friezes depicting such skulls are found at some Maya sites in association with ball courts. The shown frieze from Chichén Itzá is one such example of this.
