This app makes my skin look waaaaay better than it is- I have lots of small scars on my face. Scars that tell my story. My biggest #mixdgirlproblems has to be the fact that I am #raciallyambiguous, thus when I interact with new folks, I can see their gears turning in their minds desperately trying to figure out what ethnicity I am, almost as if they can’t possibly move on in the conversation until they have that answer. It’s bizarre, to feel like people drive their social interactions with me based on my race (makes sense though, people are problematic). The classic #mixdgirlproblem includes having no true circle to belong to, when each one you are apart of doesn’t see you as enough, I’m not White enough (thank goodness lol), not Arab enough, definitely not Black enough, and folks love to let me know it every chance they get. Little do they know, their opinions don’t mean shit to me, and I am authentically who I am regardless of what they think of me.I always identify as #mixed when folks ask me, and if they probe further about my percentage breakdown, I make them feel super uncomfortable for asking, cuz it ain’t y'alls business if I just met you! Why yall even want to know!? Y'all weird.”

Trying a new coloring style with a self-portrait (Yes I got a haircut and my hair is everywhere now) Although I don’t think I’ll be doing this for most of my works ‘cause this coloring style takes time :’) but this was good practice. :)
