Sometimes I preplan the structure and composition of the clouds and when I start painting my mind goes on autopilot and something completely different comes out… that is what happened here. This is a painting of Flint Canyon Trail in La Cañada this one looks towards Glendale and Burbank Glendale is the brightest city to the left and burbank is at the top right. I have painted 3 of the 4 viewpoints, Which means I’m almost done with this series! Now what should I paint after that?..

I spent last week in LA and was able to take a few pictures from the Flint Canyon Trail in La Cañada at night. There are four major areas that I captured, this is a painting of the one that is looking towards the entrance of the San Fernando Valley. It’s been a strange week we’ve had 3 wild fires near our property and one mandatory evacuation, but I still found time to finish this painting! I used phthalo blue instead of ultramarine blue, which I think made it more vibrant, what do you guys think of the different blues?
