Unknown, ‘Portrait of a Lady’, oil on panel, French, circa 16th to 17th centuries; currently in the collection of the Louvre, Paris, France.
Formerly attributed to the school of Francois Clouet; formerly in the collection of the Nazi Hermann Goring, then repatriated to France after World War II. It’s interesting to note that the Louvre themselves say 'Purchased (?)’ c.1941, under circumstances only partly recorded, including an estimate or purchase price of 50,000 francs. (x)
