Unequal Scenes, Johnny Miller, 2016

Unequal Scenes portrays scenes of inequality in South Africa from the air. Discrepancies in how people live are sometimes hard to see from the ground. The beauty of being able to fly is to see things from a new perspective - to see things as they really are. Looking straight down from a height of several hundred meters, incredible scenes of inequality emerge. Some communities have been expressly designed with separation in mind, and some have grown more or less organically.

During apartheid, segregation of urban spaces was instituted as policy. Roads, rivers, “buffer zones” of empty land, and other barriers were constructed and modified to keep people separate. 22 years after the end of apartheid, many of these barriers, and the inequalities they have engendered, still exist. Oftentimes, communities of extreme wealth and privilege will exist just meters from squalid conditions and shack dwellings.

Order is, at one and the same time, that which is given in things as their inner law, the hidden network that determines the way they confront one another, and also that which has no existence except in the grid created by a glance, an examination, a language; and it is only in the blank spaces of this grid that order manifests itself in depth as though already there, waiting in silence for the moment of its expression.

Fashion Picks for Summer 2013 There are many trends coming in and going out in Summer 2013, but here

Fashion Picks for Summer 2013

There are many trends coming in and going out in Summer 2013, but here are some of my personal fashion picks and where you can find them - right on the high street.

1. Two piece suits - I am loving this trend that has hit our highstreets and it’s definately my favourite for this season, whether its a t-shirt or a blazer teamed with shorts, trousers or a skirt with matching patterns, you are sure to look fashion relevant this summer.

[Oasis Meadow Floral - Blazer £70, Trouser or Skirt £45]

2. Cut out leathers - Sandals to boots, this is a key look this season and I am loving it - it has come from the runway and is perfect for these summer nights ahead to wearing to festivals.

[Topshop ALADIN Gladiator strap £70, New Look Limited Ankle Boot £59.99]

3. Statement stripe - We saw it on the catwalks with Marc Jacobs and many more, but now it is our turn to wear this latest trend.

[Topshop stripe tee £40]

4. Graphic Print - Almost everybody did graphic print and it has hit the high street hard - it is everywhere, so I can guarentee you will be wearing this trend without even intending too this season!

[Topshop money print shirt - £40]

5. Retro Glasses - This John Lennon inspired style is really taking off this summer, go go go before they’re gone.

[New Look white round retro - £4.99, Topshop dark grey jeepers peepers £16]

6. Winged Clutch Bags - We’ve seen tote bags, from high end to high street in this style and it has become miniature, love it.

[New Look red and stone wing clutch £12.99]

Ended the course in natural dyeing this week with an exhibition at the student gallery at Stenebyskolan

I have worked with screen printing and dyeing in combination. Trying out different combinations of colour, and how do combine them. I have mostly used blueberries, yellow onion skins and madder.

Last time I was at Steneby I found three different kinds of cherries. I tried out to paint with them, both the juice just the way it was, and also after boiling it. I got so many different shades from blue to almost orange.
