One of the exhibits at Monotype’s Eric Gill Series exhibition was this small selection from the lovely range of 20th Century Penguin Books, many of which would use the typeface Gill Sans on their iconic covers during this period.

I thought this ‘BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS’ image would like quite good on a sticker/magnet (perhaps slapped on a book journal or magnetised to a well-read fridge) so you can now but one for a few quid (or international equivalent) here if you want!

Forever one of my all time favourite books, which really sums up my personality and obsessions. Sometimes I get pretty terrified at how more and more there are glimpses of that science fiction dystopia in our current societies.

Spent the afternoon recreating Dorian Gray’s desk (or at least, what I imagine his desk to be like) ♥ The newspaper is a replica of one from 1895, the closest I own to the book’s setting. There’s wine, naturally, cherries, and an unfinished letter to Sybil beginning “Dear Sybil, my Rosalind, my Juliet, I have never been so happy…” I refrained from including paints/paint brushes, as much as I wanted to, because they wouldn’t feature on an authentic Dorian Gray desk. Basil was the artist after all.
