Sislerle yağmurun tüllediği,
Yüreğimin kimsesizliğinde yetim bir akşamın iç çekişini duyuyorum …

Stream of Life
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
- Rabindranath Tagore
Day by day I float my paper boats one by one down the running stream.
In big black letters I write my name on them and the name of the village where I live.
I hope that someone in some strange land will find them and know who I am.
I load my little boats with shiuli flowers from our garden, and hope that these blooms of the dawn will be carried safely to land in the night.
I launch my paper boats and look up into the sky and see the little clouds setting their white bulging sails.
I know not what playmate of mine in the sky sends them down the air to race with my boats!
When night comes I bury my face in my arms and dream that my paper boats float on and on under the midnight stars.
The fairies of sleep are sailing in them, and the lading is their baskets full of dreams.
‘Paper Boats’, The Crescent Moon, Rabindranath Tagore
(1913)
মেঘ বলেছে যাব যাব….
The cloud says,“It is time to go.”
The night says,“I will follow.”
The ocean says,“I have met the shore, myself I am no more.”
Sorrow says,“I stay quiet, hidden in his footprints”
I say,“I desire nothing more than to dissolve into your soul”
The world says,“For you I have prepared the welcoming garlands.”
The sky says,“ For you millions of lamps shine on the path.”
Love says,“I have waited for you, awake, since aeons.”
Death says,“It is I who rows the boat of your life.”

As the wind blows through the forest
With withered leaves and flowers
I shall fly in early dawn
The trackless sky,towards the shores
Of sunset
Rabindranath Tagore
“Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.
Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but
for the heart to conquer it.”
Rabindranath Tagore
