“Sad Boy Hours”
This is a mixed media monoprint and it means v much to me!
The three portraits are of my friends from my hometown, and this entire piece is just kind of a mushy-gushy omage to them and the support and love I feel when I’m with them— the exact same feeling I hope I’m able to return to them. <3
This is one of my favorites from this semester, and I’m excited to keep toying around with the concept.

“Alison Lambert (b. 1957 Kingston, UK) studied BA Fine Art Lanchester Polytechnic, Coventry (1981-84). Her work is figurative and consists of large charcoal drawings, monotypes and colograph/etchings. "The monotype process suits my way of working as it is the ‘painterly’ version of what I do with charcoal on paper. The accidental elements, which are also present in my drawing process, can be both intriguing and frustrating. The small size of the monotype plates provides an intensity that isn’t available with my large scale drawings.”

One of the exhibits at Monotype’s Eric Gill Series exhibition was this small selection from the lovely range of 20th Century Penguin Books, many of which would use the typeface Gill Sans on their iconic covers during this period.

I popped into the Old Truman Brewery earlier today to catch Monotype’s Eric Gill Series exhibition. I will post more about it over the coming days, but I was particularly impressed with the time and effort that went into the stairwell leading to the show! My favourite of this lot is the number five in the corner. While not anamorphic, being placed on a corner made it feel like it was enveloping the viewer.
It’s not often you find yourself at an exhibition where you spend more time photographing the artwork that isn’t strictly in it!
