Ever since I was younger I always was told how kind I was. I took pride in my kindness, in how others see me as someone who is nice.
When I did Ariel and Jarrod’s engagement photos I brought my polaroid camera with me too and took individual shots of them and had them write their favorite thing about the other on it. It got me thinking what I liked most about myself and realized it was my kindness.
I’m also very excited for the newest Live-Action Cinderella film coming out because the tag line is “Have courage and be kind.Where there is kindness there is goodness, and where there is goodness there is magic” which is something I really love and feel should be taught more. Kindness is not weakness, kindness is a strength.
This week’s post is late because I wa on my first real Photography assignment. These two are co-workers of mine and about 3-4 months ago they approached me and asked me to do something I never thought possible, They asked me to shoot their engagement/save the date photos. And they wanted it at Disneyland since that is where they met and both work.
So we collaborated back and forth, finally nailing down details, and since her name is Ariel they did a Disneybound of Ariel and Eric from when she’s on land and they explore the town.
This was such a fun shoot and I am beyond honored that they gave me this amazing opportunity to shoot this and they also gave me complete control of the shoot which was really exciting to work with.
I’ll be posting more of these as I finish editing them!
I’ve been playing around a lot with my fixed lens. It’s definitely something to get used to since I don’t have the capability to zoom in or out, I have to move myself if I want to create the shot I’m looking for.
This is Lisa (queenkhaleesa) and she asked if I could take her portrait and I was like hell yes. I’ve become more open to people now that I’m a photographer, I’m nowhere near a pro but I am more confident in my abilities and it’s starting to show. I’ve had a few friends and co-workers ask me to shoot pictures for them, for their families, I’m shooting an engagement session next week in fact!
I’ve also decided to share more photos on this blog, I’ll still post one every thursday but I want to share others I’ve taken as well.
The idea I had for this week was Wes Anderson. I really like his style of filmmaking and how the scenes are set up very symmetrical. This is actually somewhat challenging for me since I rely usually on the rules of thirds for my pictures which I think makes them more…alive? But I enjoyed doing this setup and will probably use this type of staging again.
What has been nice so far for this project is the support I’ve gotten from friends in my life, Like for instance they being willing to pose in Grocery stores or just stare me down through the lens at midnight.
