Inspired by einaussenseiter & peeyonce, Tumblr.

I posted their Pokémon teams before on here, but here’s an updated version! With their Pokémon backstories, mixed with the public details of their lives.

Carl never planned on becoming a gym leader, let alone the mayor of his town. He’d had a troubled childhood. The effects of which endured, even when fulfilling his dream of becoming a musician. After an encounter with a legendary Pokémon, his new dream became to help others. He founded a center for abused Pokémon and children, a safe place for both to heal. It also has programs for adults, activities for older kids, and a school for younger kids. His center became a hub for the town’s community.

Due to the many positions he holds, he’s a busy man. He’s usually away from the gym, still performing or traveling to better the center. His wife and children run the center and fight trainers who want a gym badge, in his place. He never specialized or favored types, instead, he preferred befriending Pokémon over catching. In becoming a gym leader, he had noticed (though he should’ve years ago), how Normal types are drawn to him. To round out his team, John gifted his shiny Ambipom to him. While Carl looks mean, he’s a big softy and loves Pokémon and kids, and can be very protective of both.

Jerry Lee loved Bug and Fire-types as a kid. Since he saw them as being the best types of Pokémon in the world, as an adult, he stuck to them. Like Carl, he dreamed of becoming a musician. That changed to beat Elvis Presley and become the new Champion. He was so arrogant about how good of a trainer he was, those who didn’t believe him wanted to test him. Every night, at the nightclub he played, “Suga’s Hideaway,” a new opponent challenged him. He became “the infamous Ferriday Fireball,” in this case, infamous for fighting dirty. He’d get into physical fights with trainers, and his microphone stand didn’t discriminate. A decade and the Pokémon Association offered him an official gym. He was reluctant to accept, TV Producer Jack Good, encouraged him to at least try it out.

The Gym, still a nightclub, became “The Fireball Lounge.” It had a stage with a piano that doubled as a battlefield, which saw little use. Having a bad habit of not being at his gym, the challenger would seek him. He’d be at his house, with a piano-shaped battlefield in his backyard. Another bad habit was having other Pokémon besides Bug and Fire-types on his team. These bad habits got him in trouble with the PA, but as long as a trainer got their badge, all was well. When he retired, he gave his gym to his children. Though they’d fight each other, more than the trainers, over who the leader was. Even in old age, there are many a soul who wants to battle him and he obliges, with a team of random types.

Roy, an expert of all elemental types. His interest in learning began when he lived in his hometown, Wink. He didn’t have any friends. The kids at school picked on him for how he looked, so he kept to himself. He spent his time playing guitar, reading and befriending wild Pokemon. It’s no wonder that his fondness for Ground, Dark, Psychic, and Steel types came from loneliness. With unwavering determination, he dedicated everything to his research, music, and Pokemon. He became the first gym leader of Wink, with a Ground-type team, the fourth out of eight gyms. Not long after, the PA promoted him to the eighth and final gym, a trainer would face.

Out of all the elemental teams he’d have, Steel was his favorite. He’d say, “Steel-types are sharp, yes. They can hurt you if you aren’t careful but they aren’t cold or unfeeling as some would think.” Years later, he’d become the first outta four, in the Elite Four, with a Dark-type team. Then the new champion, with a Psychic/Fairy team. All while keeping a tight touring schedule. Though he accomplished everything he set out to do, he missed time with his family, which he wasn’t proud of. He’d retire from his position as Champion, though not from battling.

John, like his dear friends, hadn’t planned to become a gym leader. He led a tumultuous life, at one of the more peaceful lulls, he took to spelunking. In a cave, he found an Aerodactyl fossil, thus the beginning of his search for ancient Pokemon. From one of his travels, he brought a revived Kabuto home, it didn’t adjust well to his Lakeside home. The cave, where his fossil craze started, flooded. It was a perfect home for Kabuto and later his other revived fossil Pokemon, that prefer the dark.

The rowdier ones needed regular battles, word spread, he was willing to battle anyone with them. Back then, no one had seen such prehistoric Pokemon. The PA offered to make him a gym leader. He had a fondness for Water-types, the first he caught was while fishing, a Magikarp. Back then it was bigger than him, then he outgrew it, then it evolved into Gyarados. To keep with the fossil theme, he made a Water/Rock team. His gym would be at the mouth of the cave, adding moss and trees. He’d explain, “plants produce oxygen, and you need that down here.” His gym was also a Fossil Pokemon Sanctuary and remained so after his retirement. Those wishing to battle him have to travel to a faraway region, he welcomes all challengers.

Inspired by @ladyanaconda making a Pokemon team for Striker, I decided to make a team for Solrina! Sol isn’t one for fighting, rather she would avoid fighting and instead would most likely be a healer you’ll find on routes. Of course, that doesn’t stop certain trainers from wanting to fight her.

Wooloo’s habit of running (or rolling) away from conflict fits Solrina’s fleeing nature when she knows something is wrong. Not to mention is a clear reference to “God’s Sheep” (Before you ask, “Why didn’t you put Mareep?” Solrina suffered electric shocks because of a certain Overlord, so electric types are a big no-no for her).

Both Meganium and Chansey represent the healing aspect of Sol, whether it be damage on a person, physically or emotionally, or the Earths greenery.

Togekiss’s Pokedex entry say they bring blessings, something many people in Hell receive from Sol whether they realize it or not. Even I.M.P. and Striker notice the ‘warm’ feelings they get when they’re around her.

Galarian Rapidash is mostly a reference to her horse that Sol get’s later in the future. 'Course, it’s probably not as fluffy as this horse, but it’s kind of required if you have to keep up with Striker out in the fields.

Speaking of Striker, Garchomp is actually a Pokemon Striker gave her as a means of fending herself against trainers who want to fight her (which explains the odd one out choice of Pokemon). Level 100, all the best stats maxed out, excellent moves and strategy. Consider it the perfect guard dog for the precious being that is Striker’s wife.

And before you ask, yes all of Sol’s Pokemon have nicknames:

Wooloo - Cardigan

Chansey - Sunny

Togekiss - Rainbow

Meganium - Hibiscus

Rapidash - Cotton Candy

Garchomp - Baby Shark

Encanto in Pokémon

This is my interpretation on what the Madrigal Family’s Pokémon Teams would be, Abuela Alma, Bruno, Pepa, Delores, Camilo, Antonio, Julieta, Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel. As we don’t know much about Félix or Agustín, I don’t have teams for them (that and I can only post 10 pictures on here) Spoilers for Encanto under the cut

Abuela Alma Madrigal

A long time ago, when Alma and Pedro tried to escape their village, a small Litwick joined their journey, settling in between Alma’s children. However, when Pedro was unfortunately taken from them, the Litwick shone brighter, its flames burning higher and blessing Alma and her family, creating their Casita. After the Encanto had been created, a trio of butterfly Pokémon kept close to Alma, one to represent one of her children. After the events of Encanto, losing the miracle and Casita…unfortunately, Chandelure’s flames died out, and Alma lost her closest friend. Butterfree, Beautifly and Vivilion knew it hurt, and helped as much as she could.

Pepa Madrigal

Once blessed with her gift, Castform attached itself to Pepa’s side. it floated around her always, changing to represent Pepa’s changing moods. Alma, seeing her daughter’s sadness at not being able to controll her emotions, found Pelipper and Torkoal with weather changing abilities to help regulate the weather around Pepa. When Pepa was sad, Torkoal would clear the day, if Pepa was unable to bring rain to hot days, Pelipper would bring said rain.

Julieta Madrigal

When Julieta received her gift, Julieta found it hard to help everyone in the Encanto by herself. Yes, she was able to cook everything that people needed, but at such a young age, she couldn’t go out to give her treats to the people. She happened across Chansey who shared her love for helping others and caring for them. Audino came to her, unable to ignore the sounds of physical pain, and lead Julieta to those in pain. She a Jigglypuff at a young age, and the round Pokémon loved to help comfort those in pain. It evolved when a full moon descended on the Encanto.

Bruno Madrigal

Being able to see the future, Bruno felt like the world was on his shoulders, seeing the future was a heavy weight to bear. Xatu appeared soon after, being able to see the future itself, Xatu knew it had to stay by Bruno’s side. After the events of Mirabel’s Gift Ceremony, and when Bruno escaped to the walls of Casita, he befriended the Rattata that lived alongside them.

Delores Madrigal

When Delores acquired her gift, she found it difficult to block out all the voices. She was too young, Pepa and Félix found a Noibat to help her. Due to Noibat’s ability to control soundwaves, it helped with keeping the noise out of her ears. Azumaril was in the same position as Delores, unable to block out all of the voices. Delores felt sympathy for the Pokémon and took it in, having her now Noivern help block out the sounds. When Delores took up dancing, she was fascinated by a group of Baile Style Oricorio. She learned how to dance from them. One grew attached to Delores, and stayed by her side.

Camilo Madrigal

Being new to his gift, Camilo was unable to control his abilities. Pepa and Félix went around to try and find Pokémon to help him. Camilo’s parents found Ditto first, to help him choose what to change into. When they realised that Camilo copied his Ditto’s face mannerisms, Pepa and Félix found Camilo a Zoroua who was able to more easily help him master his Gift. Kecleon found itself in the Madrigal house and attached itself to Camilo, the two of them bonding over their abilities.

Antonio Madrigal

Antonio only recently got his gift. As such, his Pokémon havent evolved yet. When Casita gave him his door, Chatot and Meowth were the first Pokémon to greet him and helped him discover his abilities to talk to Pokémon. After the events of Encanto, Antonio didn’t want his family to go through that stress again. He saw what happend to Casita when emitons ran wild, and saught out a Pokémon to help the family and came across Ralts. He hops to evolve him into a Gardivior in the future.

Isabela Madrigal

When Isabela got her gift, a Flabébé and Budew started following her around. She nurtured those Pokémon as she did her flowers, making sure that the two became two gorgeous Pokémon that her family could be proud of. After her time with Mirabel and gaining more confidence in herself and her Gift, she found Maractus and took her in, much to the surprise of her family, but they grew to love Maractus.

Luisa Madrigal

Much like Isabela, when Luisa got her gift, a Machop and Makuhita gravitated towards her. And, just like Isabela, she trained her Pokémon to be the strongest Fighting Types in Encanto. They help her with her chores, Machamp’s four arms are very helpful in rounding up the donkeys. As Casita was being rebuilt, found Sobble among the rubble and took it in. For the two of them, there’s nothing better than sitting in Luisa’s room and crying let it all out.

Mirabel Madrigal

Last but not least, Mirabel. After her failed Gift Ceremony, Mirabel locked herself in the nursery, not wanting to leave and face her family. As she hid under her bed, Eevee snuck through the window, and comforted the young girl. Mirabel took Eevee in and the two became best friends. When Mirabel was old enough to learn to sew, she taught out Leavanny to help her, who happily accepted and joined her team. The final Pokémon to join Mirabel was Litwick. After Casita was rebuilt, Mirabel put the doorknob in and reignited the miracle, giving birth to another Litwick to help carry on the miracle that Alma was blessed with all those years ago.
