Been a bit inactive because I haven’t drawn in a while due to moving. The stress of setting up our new place and getting everything in order on top of working has really worn me out. Everything’s settling a bit so I have a bit more time to sit down and draw something. Even if it’s small like this. I wanted to play around with layers, brushes and settings with this one. I kind of like it in a way.
Red is a happy colour to the point of almost obscene — quite unlike the others, those more delicate and prone to get lost in transition from traditional to digital.
Here be my regular lamentation about delivering you the turquoise as it is in real life — the colour just won’t be seen by digital media no matter how many shamanic dances with Selective Colour modes one performs to salvage its original lush vibrance.
And then the red. Waltzing right into your face, wild, intense, brightest and radically shameless in how lossless it actually is. Only acquiring deeper hues when brought into digital space.

The amazing instinctive feature of studying the references of people smiling is that while drawing you will involuntarily start smiling yourself in trying to imitate the mimic in the ref. Love this about sketching☺️
