Redwoods are by far my favorite tree. After hiking for so many months in the mountains and foothills, it was such a treat to finally hike among the redwoods again in Muir Woods last December. Along the path in the park the sunlight gleams through the 200-foot tall trees to highlight just how beautiful and majestic they are. And while Muir Woods is not my favorite Redwood park, there is something still so magnificent about this special place in the bay.

Autumn in the sierra nevadas is just spectacular. It happens much earlier than down in the foothills and the valley but it is so worth the time and travel to explore the beautiful groves of aspen trees. Early to mid October is peak season for these trees and this year, I went to some new places to explore. We had been to Lake Margaret over the summer and decided it would be fun to do the hike again in autumn to see the aspens. And while some spots were past peak and some would be peak in another week, it was so wonderful to get away from the road and see the aspens back in the forests. The trails were busy with chipmunks preparing for winter and birds flying around. The gentle wind rustles the aspen trees and makes the chilly morning all the more spectacular.

I’ve lived so close to the Great Valley & the Delta all my life and I so rarely actually venture to explore the nature in this area. We took a quick trip to the Blue Heron Trail located in the Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge so we could explore some of the local plants. And while the heat of summer may not have been the most beautiful time of year to visit, we still loved seeing and learning about the many different native plants and animals that live in this special area. There was so much to see when you change your eye level and look above and below.

Este grupo dio muchísimo juego para fotografiar en la edición de este año del Stonefest. La mayoría están tiradas con una canon 70d y otras (como por ejemplo la primera) con una Fuji X100S, Una compacta que desde luego poco tiene que envidiar a muchas reflex vistos los resultados, de momento ya esta siendo la mejor compra del año,

It feels so good to work surrounded by great people and to finally be able to take some of those pictures you’d always had in mind. Although I missed so many shots I’d love to have, but I’ll try to solve this at #OBF17 (fingers crossed).
