02-25-21 – Wonky Boi
This is a rushed and glaringly wonky sketch because I did it in-between my split shift for work tonight. Don’t @ me lol
02-24-21 – Forest Spirit
Just a lazy 20 minute moose sketch tonight.
02-23-21 – Dielectric Union
My best friend (who is an electrician) is renoing his bathroom and I’ve been helping him out with the plumbing. Tonight Jesse said I should do my drawing on the inside on of the drywall. This is hidden in the wall that houses the electrical panel and the Bathtub. A little surprise for next people who rip open the wall
02-22-21 – 2012 Dredd
I recreated a poster from the 2012 Dredd Movie but with a more saturated color that matches the comic counterpart.
02-21-21 – Lumbering Pin-Cushion
Just a quick tone study to try and train myself to draw with shapes and light rather than lines and sight.
02-20-21 – Darth Vader
This is just a quick 35 minute sketch. I’ve been thinking about the Dark Father of a far, far away galaxy a lot lately. I didn’t leave myself much time for art today but that’s okay as long as I make something!
02-19-21 – Magic Study
This is just a more challenging tone study done on my ReMarkable 2 Tablet. I think I’d do some things differently approaching this again but I feel like I’m learning lots from these studies.
02-18-21 – Persevere
I did a rough sketch of the Perseverance Rover that landed on Mars today

Let’s face it: the most difficult thing when it comes to foreign languages is to find natives to practice it. This free app allows you to get in touch with people from all over the world to talk about anything in your target language via free text messages, audios or video calls. If you wish, you can also get professional tutors (but in this case you have to pay).
Also, you can tap on your partner’s messages to correct them!
So basically this app has the same functions of HelloTalk but you don’t have to pay to use it. I’ve been using the app for some months now and I highly recommend it!
Research != practice
This is a reminder to myself because I often get caught up in my own deep lore and neglect to study other cultures.
There’s a part of me that’s strangely afraid of researching other magical cultures as much as I research my own. It’s an irrational fear I have that I’d be somehow disturbing or dishonoring that culture by simply looking into its knowledge - like a fear that my brain might be “appropriating” their tradition simply by knowing anything about it.
So I have to remind myself, that looking at intentionally-written existing resources in order to see new perspectives is actually the opposite of “appropriating” that culture - if a resource was intentionally given to the world from people of that culture, then I’d actually be doing a disservice to those who cared enough to document and share their lives.
My magical investigation should, and must, go beyond self-understanding. There is a massive difference between learning and practicing; and I can practice my existing framework without ever feeling a need to “adopt” other frameworks just because I am learning lessons from other people who do practice those frameworks.
