Summary: in one of the most heartbreaking moments of Dean’s life, he and Team Free Will say their goodbyes. (Dean’s POV)
She’s so beautiful. The way the light shines on her face makes me have to catch my breath every time. I look at her and it’s like staring into the sun, though I can never look away.
She does this thing when she’s thinking, she’ll just nibble on her lip without even noticing she’s doing it. Her skin smells like gentle lavender like the flowers just bloom under her skin. And her eyes–oh, those eyes take me somewhere far away with every glance.
On the horizon, I can see the sun beginning to set. The water is practically still, though the breeze still blows softly through her hair. She’s a force of nature all on her own.
As I study her with tears in my eyes, I watch the final colors left in the sky make her skin glow. Never have I longed for someone the way I do her, and I know that I never will again.
I’m considering creating a website that is solely devoted to my SPN series rewrite “Wayward Hearts”. I think it might be fun to have it available almost as a book, to post art I’ve made, fan art I’ve gotten (which still blows my mind), share my writing process, and make it an all around experience for those who want to dive back into the Supernatural world.

“Wayward Hearts”
Summary: As Sam and Dean begin the search for their father, a chance encounter with another hunter will change the roads ahead. Riley Munroe is a hunter, raised by her father after her mother tragically died when she was only six months old. Brought together by loss, grief, and the family business, Sam, Dean, and Riley join forces. They’ll find that their stories are intertwined and lean on each other as they search for answers and to avenge those they’ve lost. They’ll face evil, darkness, and hell itself…as a family.
Getting back to the family business over the next couple weeks. With all the fandom drama going on and no more SPN to feed our hunger for more…I hope this series rewrite helps fill the void.

But, I’m having surgery next week and will be on bedrest for 2-3 weeks. So…I’m thinking that might be a good time to get back into writing the SPN series rewrite “Wayward Hearts”.
I think about this series all the time and I’m constantly missing being a part of the story of Sam, Dean, and Riley. My life has been so chaotic (in mostly good ways) that I just haven’t had the time or energy to work on it. But, with no work, the kiddo out of town, and time off school…I think it’s as good a time as any to bring back our heroes. We still have at least a season and a half to go!
I will have more information for you over the coming two weeks. I’m eager to get back into this rewrite and to get back on the road with you all.

Everyone…after having the prequel information mulling around in my head since last night…I’m conflicted as fuck.
Having an origin story of John and Mary makes no sense to me. We already know enough through the flashbacks we’ve had. Also, how would we make this work with John not being a hunter or even know about the supernatural until after Mary’s death? This sounds like they’re opening the door for too many plot holes and I don’t like it. And I mean, let’s be honest–John and Mary were two of the least liked characters throughout the entire series.
I wanted more SPN so badly and having Jensen take the reigns is awesome, and having him narrate is beautiful…but it doesn’t feel right. Maybe if it was about the traumatic childhood they had and about the boys growing up learning to be hunters while taking care of each other…I might feel different. But this just doesn’t feel like the right way to go with it.
Not to mention the whole fiasco with Jared not even knowing about the show until it was announced on Twitter. I’m giving Jensen the benefit of the doubt and assuming there was an NDA or something until the release. Jared said they’ve spoken and that things are okay now, but I know he’s hurting. None of this feels right and I’m incredibly torn about how I’m supposed to feel.
I dont know how many of you are in the same boat I am with all of this…but I’m not as excited about this as I would like to be–that’s for damn sure.
Side bar: this fandom can be so damn toxic. Don’t go after either of the guys for their parts in this. They’re only human and they’re getting insane levels of harassment and shame.
Finally finished this monster (wink wink) of a piece, a tribute to Supernatural (although I know we missed out on a bunch of characters—maybe for another piece! Haha) Patreon commission for @shymeg . I’ve been watching SPN since the very beginning, so it was super nostalgic to go back and rewatch all 15 seasons in preparation for this. Whether or not you agree with how it all ended, I’m glad they ended on their terms, and not because of a cancellation (because man, it was on the bubble almost every year). Carry on, wayward peeps.
Will post the individual “rooms” in separate posts to better appreciate the details :)

We start off with blues and gradually the panels get brighter until we get sunrise/sunset colors. The scenes are also like rooms in a diorama, with Chuck-God as the puppet master.
Panel 2: At Harvelle’s Roadhouse, the hunter bar. Jo and Dean in one corner, Ash on his computer, Sam and Bobby drinking at the bar, Ellen running things.
Easter eggs in this panel—Jukebox playing “Simple Man”, stickers of “Jerk” and “Bitch”, “Family Don’t End With Blood” on the wall, Route 66 sign, and September 13 on the calendar. I threw in an “idjit” sticker too haha
We’ve still got some blues here, but starting to incorporate yellows and reds
Panel 3: At the Men of Letters bunker. Warding on the walls. Demon Dean looking on. Castiel. Crowley. Rowena. A spell in the works. Charlie doing her thing on the computer. Sheriff Jodi Mills with a shotgun. Lucifer Sam going through dad’s journal.
Easter eggs in this panel—Jerk and Bitch stickers again haha, the warding consists of not just warding but various symbols throughout the show, like the mark of Cain, angel repelling sign, etc.
Colors are more taupe and yellow and light as we move towards the final panel
Panel 4: Sam and Dean and Baby on the road. Carry On Wayward Son is the soundtrack. Iconic family motto as they drive on.
Colors are bright and sunny, either sunrise or sunset. The road extends beyond the “diorama” house, with some light spilling out (you can see it in the full piece)
Outside the diorama: Chuck-God the puppet master, Amara looming behind him in shadow, and Jack the Nephilim coming closer to defeat God

“Are you sure you and your dad are going to be okay?” Your uncle Sam raised an eyebrow at you, “I don’t want you having too much of a bad influence around you for the night.” He turned to glare at your dad who threw up his middle finger at him behind your back.
“Sammy this is Journey we are talking about! My first words were ‘don’t stop believing’, I’ll be fine!” You squeaked and hugged him tight, slowly slipping out his wallet from his back pocket. “We’ll be back before you know it.” You smiled innocently and passed the wallet to Dean behind your back.
Shaking his head, he couldn’t but smile brightly at your excitement “okay bug, I’ll see you in a couple of days.” He ruffled your hair and patted Dean’s back before closing the door.
Once you and your dad got in the car you sat in silence until your dad spoke up, “how long do you think it will take him to notice.”
“Eh a couple of hours maybe.” Laughing you put your seatbelt on and shoved the Journey mixtape you put together for the road, “go quickly before he notices!”
Nodding Dean quickly sped off, smiling at the thought of finally spending time with his baby girl.

“OH THE MOVIE NEVER ENDS!” You and your dad screamed the lyrics in unison as you pretended to play the guitar, “IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON AND O-”
Dean turned the music down as soon as you both realised who was calling, swallowing thickly you took a breath and answered the phone, “Hiya Uncle Sammy!” You laughed nervously.
“You took my wallet?” He shouted down the phone, “Y/n and Dean Winchester if you two don’t get your asses back here I swear to God I will-”
“DON’T STOP BELIEVIN!” Dean started to sing loudly again, turning the volume up.
“Dean this isn’t funny you nee-”
“HOLD ONTO TO THAT FEELIN!” You started to join in as well.
“Y/n don’t you start, put you dad on the pho-”
“STREET LIGHTS PEOPLE OH OH OHHHHH!”
“You are both dead when you get home.” Sam hung up and left you and Dean singing your hearts out once again.
“He’s going to kill us!” You exclaimed over the music.
Dean turned to look at you for a brief moment, eyes crinkling in the corner from grinning, “oh well! We are gonna rock and roll darling!” Turning the volume up even further you head banged as you felt the impala shaking with every beat.

After a very long drive you and your dad raced to drop your stuff off at a nearby motel and ran into the concert area. “We are finally here!” You cheered, looking around at all the people and seeing the night sky light up with stars you took in your surroundings. “Thank you so much dad.” You whispered, eyes tearing up as he wrapped his arm around you and pulled you close.
“Hey hey hey no tears, this is the one time there is going to be no tears okay?” You nodded and he rubbed your arm before stretching his arms. Seeing you look at him with confusement he explained, “you really think I’m going to bring you to a concert and not do any dad dancing?” He winked as you rolled your eyes.
“Maybe I am better going back to Uncle Sa-”
“COLORADO!” The lead singer’s voice boomed over the speakers, “ARE YOU READY?”
You and your dad screamed and cheered along with the crowd, waiting to see them all on stage. “LET’S GO!”
Everybody started to jump up and down as the band came on stage, and not being blessed his your uncle’s height you were struggling to see. Tugging on the sleeve of your dad’s jacket he turned and instantly saw the problem, “I got you baby girl.”
Squealing you were soon flung onto your dad’s shoulders, finally able to see the moment you have been waiting for in your life. “This is amazing!” You yelled as you started to sing along with the crowd. “ THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!”

“This is the worst day ever.” You glared at your dad as you sat in the hospital with a broken leg, “how could you have forgotten I was on your shoulders!”
Dean shrunk down in the chair next to the bed, “I told you I was going to dance.” He mumbled, face filled with guilt.
Just before you could shout again you and your dad turned to see who was walking through the door, “Oh no.”
“Oh yes.” Your uncle Sam said crossing his arms. Not taking your eyes off him, Dean sank even further in his chair to the point he almost fell to the floor whilst you used the remote to move your bed further down. “Nope get up, both of you.”
The sound of your bed moving back up filled the room along with Dean’s grunting as he tried to get back up, “I’ll be taking this thank you.” He snatched his wallet off the side and looked inside, “you used my card for the hospital bills didn’t you?” You and your dad just silently nodded as Sam sighed, “it’s a good job I was going to pay anyway.”
Reaching your arms out and pouting your uncle playfully rolled his eyes and gave you a hug. When Dean did the same Sam smiled and walked in front of him but instead of receiving a hug, he got a slap in the face “Son of a bitch.” Dean mumbled, rubbing his cheek.
“Doctors want you in over night Y/n so I brought you a change of clothes oh and I was also given this.” He passed an envelope to you and started to leave, “just going to pay for parking. Cheers for the money Dean.”
Dean’s eyes widened as he patted his pockets, “you didn’t.”
Sam laughed and waved Dean’s wallet in front of him “I did.” Sam said before leaving.
“You do kind of deserve that Dad.” You said whilst opening the envelope. Looking up you saw his face turn sour at your comment, “you were the one who convinced me to steal it!”
“Well maybe you shouldn’t be so easily convinced.” He said and went to sit on the bed next to you, “whose it from?”
“I don’t know,” you took the letter out and started to read aloud, “Dear Y/n-”
‘We heard of your little accident at our concert tonight. Your dad told us how much the show meant to you and we are so sorry it was cut short. When we were told your first words were our lyrics, it really struck something inside of us. We know your dad is the reason you are in hospital but we can tell he is a good dad Y/n. That is why we want to invite you and your dad to our next concert in Nebraska with VIP access! We would be honoured to meet the girl who still sang her heart out when being put in the ambulance. Keep rocking Y/n and we will see you soon.

Once you finished reading you looked over at your dad, tears back in full force, “oh sweetheart.” Dean started to tear up as he carefully hugged you, “it was the least I could do.”
“Thank you thank you thank you!” You gripped tightly onto his shirt as you cried, overwhelmed with emotions, “I’m so thankful you threw me off your shoulders.”
Laughing you both pulled back and looked at the note again before back at each other “I love you dad.”
“I love you too Y/n.” He kissed your forehead and turned away grinning.
“What are you up to now?” You asked moving slightly away from him.
Reaching for his back pocket you saw him pull out a bank card, “Sammy just needs to know that I am always one step ahead of him. The card he has is from a kids toy section and he should find out in three…two….one.”
