Tony, Maria, and Anita, West Side Story, 1961 and 2021 Film Adaptations

West Side Story was kind of my first real musical theater obsession. It also opened up Shakespeare to me for the first time! Both are loves that have never left my nerdy little heart.

I made Tony and Maria from both movies as well as Ariana DeBose as Anita in Spielberg’s film. If I can find pieces I like, I would love to make Rita Moreno as Anita (and maybe Valentina!). But for now, you can purchase the sets of Tony and Maria or Ariana!Anita HERE at my Etsy.

I’m not sitting behind a rolltop desk in Washington, I’m running an Army post! What’s the use of talking about it now? Sentence of the court martial’s been carried out. The men are dead, anything else?

Maj. Henry Kenniston-Two Flags West(1950)

Star Trek: the Motion Picture (1979). When an alien spacecraft of enormous power is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk resumes command of the overhauled USS Enterprise in order to intercept it.

I love Star Trek a lot,but this is definitely not the franchise at its best. It’s a fairly generic space opera that never really grounds us in the crew we love, instead frequently sacrificing story for a lot of long, languid shots of space and a main plot that never really finds its footing. Not my favourite installment in the series by any stretch of the imagination, but still, it looks pretty good, and it’s still Star Trek. 6/10.
