It’s true! I never noticed it until I read it somewhere.

They say you shouldn’t try to create your own meme template, but I’m doing it anyway.  The photos are from a 2017 interview with Jake Tapper Roy Moore campaign spokesman Ted Crockett, in which Tapper informed Crockett that in the United States, government officer holders don’t actually have to swear an oath on the Bible.  Crockett reacted with slack-jawed confusion.  The video resurfaced and went viral in November 2020 (see https://www.indy100.com/news/ted-crockett-roy-more-jake-tapper-congress-bible-9724403)

My thoughts on Melanie Martinez and Timothy Heller:

Girls can rape girls. Girls can sexually assault girls. Girls can commit intimate partner violence against girls. Girls can stalk, control, isolate, and abuse. Girls are human and party to all the flaws that every other gender is.

Cisgender women in particular often get a pass in sexually predatory situations. Whether it’s a teacher sexually assaulting a teenage boy, or sexual assault in a lesbian couple, we undermine the seriousness of their sex crimes if the offender is a cis woman.

We can’t allow this to continue. Timothy Heller was brave to come forward, and other people who have been victims of sexual assault or harassment perpetrated by women need to be told that they will be believed too. They need to be told they can come forward too.

Because although sexual assault and rape is overwhelmingly perpetrated by cis men against women, anyone can be an abuser. And all sex crimes must be taken seriously.

For survivors of physical, emotional, or sexual assault at the hands of a cis woman, I believe you. Your experiences matter. You are not alone.

Roy Moore: ‘We don’t need transgender bathrooms, transgender military’

LEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — The twice-removed Alabama Supreme Court judge mowed down trans people mere minutes into a campaign rally one week ago according to a Huntsville, Alabama newspaper. Moore is on a quest to be elected to the U.S. Senate during a special election next month. With his pro-Christian religion fervor and anti-just about everything else, Moore revealed that transgender people…

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore insisted that freedom of religion applies to only the God of the Bible, and therefore the protections of the establishment clause do not extend to other religions, such as Islam and Buddhism.

This is one of the reasons why I’m an active atheist.  We get idiot judges like this one who will try to make laws denying religious freedoms to religions other than Judaism and Christianity.  I think all religions are BS, but I also feel VERY strongly that people should have the freedom to practice that BS without government interference.  I’d like to think that atheists are one of the more unbiased thinkers on this practice.

Trump’s nomination represents an attempt at expanding the Court to 10 members.

(Washington DC) Donald Trump today said that yesterday’s events were a clear signal from God that Roy Moore’s place is in Washington as co-Chief-Justice of the Supreme Court, sharing Chief Justice duties with Justice Roberts.

“Today we embark on a new chapter in God’s plan,” said Moore at the press conference announcing his nomination, “You can draw a direct line from Joseph and Mary to today and in both cases the Christians were discriminated against. The Soros liberals have told us there’s no room at the Inn of the Capitol Building but Trump kindly offers the Manger of the Supreme Court. With the Wise Men of Gorsuch, Alito, and Thomas at my side, we will help the Court rule as it always should have.”

When reached for comment, Mitch McConnell said they would be willing to suspend filibuster rules again, “…so that the people’s voice may be heard.”

No date has yet been set for confirmation proceedings.

Roy Moore’s response to the question: What does Trump mean when he said ‘make America great again?’”

Of course this morally bankrupt pedophile and sexual assaulter thinks that America was great when we had slavery. So not only does he feel emboldened to rape and stalk teenage girls but he’s racist too. Because only free white American families matter when he talks about “our families.” No, forget about the black and Native American families, their lives don’t matter.

So to add to my America Was Never Great post…

Were families in America strong when Native American families were being slaughtered by undocumented white immigrants and evicted from their own land?

Were families in America strong when black people were brought to this country, separated from each other, enslaved, raped and lynched?

Were families in America strong when immigrants from Europe had to leave their families and homelands behind to escape famines, persecution and war?

Were families in America strong when parents were forced to send their children to die and become seriously injured in dangerous factories to help feed their families?

Were families in America strong when women didn’t have the right to vote for their representatives and we still have politicians in office who are against women’s rights?

Were families in America strong during the Great Depression when some parents were offering to sell their own children? Along with their land, homes and other possessions?

Were families in America strong when we have to send loved ones to fight and die during WWII?

Were families in America strong when we condoned the murder of thousands of innocent families in Japan?

Were families in America strong when we forced Japanese American citizens into internment camps?

Were families in America strong when we rejected Jewish immigrants who were fleeing Nazi Germany and had their families slaughtered in concentration camps?

Were families in America strong during the conservative 50′s where divorce was so stigmatized that people were forced to stay in abusive relationships and we had laws in certain states that made woman have to ask their husbands for permission to divorce them?

Were families in America strong when they were forced by the conservatives of the 50′s to disown and reform their LGBTQ family members?

Were families in America strong during Jim Crow when white families told their kids to stay away from black families and black families were forced to send their kids to poorer schools and use inadequate and underfunded services? When black Americans had to fear police brutality and the KKK?

Were families in America strong during the Red Scare when families were intimidated into disowning family members who they suspected of being communists and we feared eradication from the Soviets?

Were families in America strong when the Nixon administration started incarcerating black Americans and liberal whites for marijuana use?

Were families in America strong when Nixon forced young men to die in Vietnam in a pointless war to fight against communism?

Were families in America strong during the heroin epidemic and droves of people died of overdoses?

Were families in America strong during redlining when many black and Latino families were seeing their neighborhoods neglected by the government, forced to turn to crime in order to feed their families and being threatened daily by the police?

Were families in America strong when the Reagan administration ignored the AIDS epidemic and both gay and straight Americans died as a result?

Were families in America strong when the Reagan administration’s trickle-down economics bullshit caused many small business owners to lose their businesses and unemployment to rise?

Were families in America strong when the Clinton administrations took over Nixon’s mass incarceration and put millions of black families in prison over non-violent drug offenses?

Were families in America strong after 9/11 when thousands of people lost their lives an Bush send many other people to die in the Middle East in countries that were not responsible for 9/11.

Were families in America strong when families lost their homes during Bush’s housing bubble and black homeowners were disproportionally affected?

Were families in America strong when we started viewing Muslims as a threat to our lives and spread anti-Muslim propaganda?

Are families in America strong when they have to deal with their family members being murdered by the police and the police getting away with it? Black families especially?

Are families in America strong now that college tuition has been increased by so much that most families can’t afford to send their kids to college and that college grads are drowning in student loan debt?

Were families in America strong when the Obama administration increased drone strikes against the Middle East and strengthened terrorist organizations like ISIS and as a result, influenced American citizens to become radicalized and join ISIS?

Were families in America strong when the Trump administration instituted the Muslim Ban and separated American Muslim families from each other?

Are families in America strong now that Trump’s administration brought about a resurgence of Nazis and murdered Heather Heyer?

Are families in America strong now that Trump is threatening to take away their healthcare and kill them?

Are working-class families in America strong now that Trump is threatening to raise their taxes and make it even more difficult to support their families?

Are families in America strong with Trump’s threat of going to war with North Korea?

Well, I guess if you’re a rich, white nuclear Christian family living in America, then you’re the only family who’s strong in Roy Moore’s eyes and your family is the only one that matters. Unless of course, your parents are cheating on each other or the son in the family is molesting his sister -coughJoshDuggarcough- or the family kicked out their gay or trans child because that stuff typically happens in white Christian families… Great Christian family values!

There has never been a time in American history where all families were doing well. Families in America, black, white, brown, Asian, LGBTQ, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, non-traditinal, nuclear, rich, poor, whatever category you want to use have always struggled in some way. To say otherwise is just ignorant and presumptuous as fuck. And fuck Roy Moore for being a disgusting creepy piece of shit preying on teenage girls and saying that American families were strong during slavery. Love to see how strong his family would be if they were abducted, taken to another country and enslaved.
