What an honor to have the opportunity to be apart of something so monumental! Hearing all the speakers and @real_sharpton give their messages and their demands for change was such an inspiring feeling. Listening to the families speak about their loved ones who’s lives were taken at the hands of those officers really makes you think about the changes we need to see in America.

Words by @erenomi:
This feels like too little, too late, but I can’t carry on in my sparkly fantasy world without acknowledging the systemic racism and violence that is happening all around me. I can’t carry on quietly enjoying my time with the wonderful people in my life without acknowledging the men, women, and children whose lives have been torn apart by police brutality THIS WEEK ALONE. It’s time for allies to wake up and join the fight!! #BlackLivesMatter #AltonSterling#PhilandoCastile

carlie._.mmk #BlackLivesMatter ✊ RANT WARNING: So over past week (and probably well before) race and specifically my blackness has been in the forefront of my mind. I have always been aware that I live in a white family with white communities but until recently it hadn’t been anything. I have always hated talking about race for fear that I will offend someone and so I never said anything, being told I wasn’t black enough (not gonna lie, it kind of hurts). With everything that has happened this week and all of the protests I feel like I have a duty to be out and making change but I really don’t know how. I shared things on my story but I want to talk to people and tell them how I feel and that I have finally found pride in my race. Through all of this I have had one person come and ask me how I feel and I am eternally grateful for her because it made me feel like my thoughts did matter. The fact that so many people finally care about something that has been present for as long as anyone can remember is so amazing and I really hope we can carry this enthusiasm and actually make change. Dispite the fact that my dad works for the Corrections Facilities the prison system and police have always been something I fear. I fully support all of the protests and riots and I agree, people should be mad! I guess that’s all I have to say, thanks for listening. Stay Safe! ❤️

Big Warning

If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It’s known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you’re too close, you’ll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.

Stay safe.
