His papers contain a whole box full of field notebooks. So much science!

Schleiereulen können lautlos fliegen (und sind sehr, sehr flauschig). Die primären Schwungfedern sind kammartig bezahnt und unterbrechen so den Luftstrom über die Flügel sowie Turbulenzen und somit auch Geräusche.

Barn owls fly silently. The edges of their flight feathers are comblike, breaking up the air flow over the wings and reducing the tubulences and the accompanied noise.

Skizzen aus meinem wissenschaftlichen Illukurs mit Thema Tieranatomie. Zu sehen sind Schweineköpfe (einmal halbiert), Pferdekopf, Lammkopf + -schädel und der Kopf einer Scholle, an den Kiemen aufgehängt.
Bis auf den Pferdekopf haben wir all das im Kurs seziert + gezeichnet, der Pferdekopf ist von zwei Modellen der Körperwelten Tiere - Ausstellung gezeichnet.

Nest eines Haussperlings, das der Sturm vom Baum geholt und vor meine Füße geweht hat.
Es enthält noch zwei alte,ungeschlüpfte Eier und den Rest eines geöffneten Eis. Neben Kiefernadeln ist es mit Kaninchenhaaren, die in die Stöckchen verwebt sind, gepolstert.

The storm of the last days took this sparrows’ nest from its place. It still contains two old intact eggs and one opened egg. The nest ist stuffed with pine needles and rabbits’ fur.

Die ersten beiden Bilder sind wieder mit Krita gemalt, das dritte ist ein Renderausschnitt von der Nano-Oberfläche des Lotusblattes.

The images of Plant and Health are paintings done in Krita, Cleaning is a section of a rendering of the surface of a leaf I did in blender.

Diese Große Erdhummel (Bombus magnus) habe ich heute morgen tot auf meinem Gartentisch gefunden. Aufgrund ihrer Größe (>20mm) schätze ich, dass es eine Königin ist.
Erdhummeln gehören zu den Wildbienen und steht in Deutschland auf der Roten Liste für gefährdete Arten.

Today I found this dead humblebee (Bombus magnus). I guess it’s a queen because of its large size (>20mm).
Bombus magnus is a wildbee and is listed as an endangered species in Germany.

A quick little red capped Robin sketch. Sometimes I need to clear my head and draw with nothing invested and without thinking or worrying too much about pleasing someone with the end result. This isn’t my favorite drawing but I like the “still life” look it has to it (imo)

I was the girl in school who drew horses on everything. They were the reason I stopped drawing - I was too busy riding and caring for my horses to have other hobbies. Now that my life has gone in a different direction, I’m drawing again, but man, I really miss horses.

I am super excited to invite you to participate in the inaugural ArtSciexhibition,La Rencontre, this spring at ETH Zürich, Switzerland! La Rencontre is an art exhibition for scientists by scientists - we encourage everyone to submit data, videos, illustrations, or any sort of artwork that conveys a scientific idea, message, or concept – whether related to your research, side project or simply data by other scientists that you love and want to illustrate. The goal is to inspire scientists to think about and present their research in new, creative ways that promote science communication. Pieces will be displayed on the green floor in CHN in ETH Zentrum from 22nd April to 6th May, with a vernissage on the 22.04 and an official closing/award ceremony on the 06.05.18.
