Logan takes some time off during the Christmas holidays to spend at his cabin. He thinks it’ll be peaceful and quiet, a time to rest and recharge, until a Scott-hallucination starts visiting him. She’s only seventeen, her powers are so strong but also uncontrollable. She’s the only one in her family who’s “special”, she’s alone and no one is able to help her… for now…
Years spent looking for the right person, until one day, watching tv, she sees a blue human being surrounded by hundreds of people, including police and soldiers. Moments later she realizes it’s not a movie, it’s the news. Incredulous, she sees this nonhuman figure transform back into a beautiful blonde girl. She starts asking herself a thousand questions; she realizes that she’s not the only one.
This comforts her.
She rushes into her room, turns on the computer and starts looking for this girl so she thinks “what if she could tell me what I am? if she could help me understand, help me learn how to manage my powers?“. She can’t find her in any way so she thinks right after it’s not a good idea. She has never met other nonhumans, she doesn’t know if they’re good or bad. Afraid of the idea she gives up.
The following days she doesn’t stop thinking about it; lying on her bed she hears knocking on her door which opens immediately afterwards.
“Honey, you’ve been like this for days, you need someone to help you. I would gladly do it, you know, but I don’t know how. Find that girl.”
“Mom, I’m afraid”
“We’re all afraid of what we don’t know, but fears must also be faced. You know that you have the support of the whole family but we also want you to be fine. Since you told me about it, I’ve done some research too and I found someone who can help you. That girl lives in a mutant school, there’s a certain professor who created all of this, you should try to visit them”.
“Mutants?! There are others?”
“Many others.”
She, shocked, doesn’t know what to say so she remains silent thinking.
“I’ve already talked to your father. Obviously he agrees too that you go there and have a look.“
She doesn’t say anything, she looks at her mother as if she could give her another simpler advice out of nowhere and solve her situation. Her mother smiles at her then takes her hand.
“You know we will always be here for you. Always.”
She leaves the room and Lucille realizes that her mother has left a card in her hand.
“Xavier’s School for gifted youngsters”
Why not give it a try?
The next day, after spending the night thinking about it, she finally decides to go and visit the school. After a long taxi ride Lucille finally arrives in front of an already open gate as if someone were there waiting for her. She looks up and sees a huge building in front of her, almost like a castle. Intrigued, she walks towards the school.
She knocks on the door and immediately they open it.
“Hi, can we help you?”
“Hi, um… yes… I’m looking for the professor”
“Come in, I’ll go call him”
Waiting for him she shyly wanders around the hall when suddenly she hears a voice behind her.
“Hello”
At the sound of the voice she turns around, crossing blue eyes, so bright they seem transparent.
“Lucille Quinn, right? I’m Professor Xavier, Charles Xavier. ”
He approaches to her to shake their hands.
“…Yes, but how-“
“Oh don’t worry, I saw you coming” he says smiling.
That smile embarrasses her, but somehow it was pleasant.
“Can you make me normal again?”
He get close to her.
“No. There’s nothing abnormal in you. Don’t think you’re weird, you’re not. You have a gift that makes you special. Don’t let people judge you.”
He’s so good to her. He understands her. At those words she feels something she had never felt before. She feels good. She looks intensely into his eyes and thinks about how beautiful they are, how relaxing the sound of his voice is.
Seconds after he blushes, a sweet smile lands on the professor’s face, he too was looking into her eyes, her big green eyes.
Suddenly the professor starts talking again.
“Um… I-I can help you control your powers. The best choice would be to stay here with me- US! With us. You have nothing to fear, you’re safe here”.
But there is still something that stops her; she looks at the professor looking for an answer to give him.
“Alright, think about it” he turns and starts walking slowly towards his office. “We will always be here if you change your mind.”
“Wait!”she shouts before the professor is too far away. “Fine”she says softly “promise me you will help me” she says raisingher eyebrows showing her concern.
“I will” he promised giving her a little smile and then walking away.
The fact Logan gets into his uniform without any problem shows you how much he actually cares about his identity as an X-Man. Sometimes he doesn’t get into it quiiite right, and his mask folds awkwardly into itself. Scott has a habit of fixing it for him, tucking his thumb under the cloth covering his cheek and smoothing it down. It makes his heart throb that Logan never complains, he even looks grateful. He welcomes affectionate touch casually, like it makes sense, and it makes sense to Scott to kiss him right there, slow and deliberate.
