Summary | Ever since the day he walked through the front door of your cafe hand in hand with his sweet daughter on one gloomy afternoon in the middle of winter, he had captured your heart without him even knowing it. All the time, you had chosen to stay on the sidelines, watching him mend his broken heart in silence while he teaches his own daughter that it was okay to be a kid despite the pain that they shared. You know you shouldn’t be so infatuated with him or let this feeling go any deeper. Relieved.

It is a feeling that you had not expected to find when you thought about opening yourself to Seokjin tonight. It feels liberating to be able to share your past, especially with someone who understands, someone who knows what it feels like to live in the darkness while the entire world around you continues to turn and evolve as you remain standing still.

But you also have never expected to find his words alleviating the remnants of your pain, becoming the remedy that you have unknowingly been searching for in such a long time. If his presence had managed to fill your lonely days before to the point that the days you spent with him and his daughter simply gave you a new purpose in your daily life, you begin to feel it even more now, when you can finally feel your life slowly shifting into a new direction, with a new light at the end of this path you are taking with him.

our journey ends here… this is such a soft and tender story. everytime i read Dia’s story, i truly feel like im watching every scene with the characters, smeel things with them, feel every emotions that they feel, that’s how vivid Dia’s writing is to me. especially the emotions, they are always so raw. on the other hand the characters are amazing:

- OC understanding what Seokjin is going thru and giving him space to heal and move on at his own phase. putting her feelings aside and being the friend that he needs the most.

- Minnie by being so mature and paving the way of some sort for Seokjin to realize his feelings to OC. any other woman or character would have been vindictive and choose to cling, but Minnie chose to let go for both of their peace of mind.

- Soojin being so adorably cute and just like any innocent kid has chosen who she loves at the very start.

- Minhyun for taking the steps to make sure her sister gets the chance at love that she deserves.

- Seokjin for not hesitating a bit once he realizes what he feels for OC.

for me this is a story of hope and bravery. hope, that at the end of hurting and recovery there could be a another chnace only if you are brave enough. thank you, Dia! this means alot to me. and yes, me too is looking forward to an epilogue. i will reach out to you again coz im pretty sure somewhere in your dungeon there is already an outline for an epilogue.

chapter x. sweet melody-2

Looking back, you would sometimes compare your life to the stories that you have read from those romance novels that you have loved so much when you were younger.

You were sixteen when you began to harbour a crush on your brother’s best friend. Both of them had been inseparable since junior high, especially after they both entered the basketball team together, and Aron had always spent a lot of time at your house to allow you to ogle at him at every chance you got.

At first, you had known that it would be impossible for him to reciprocate the feeling that you had for him, and yet you did nothing to stop it when the feeling had developed at some point when you kept on seeing him around. Still, you didn’t think much of it when Aron started spending more time at your house, sometimes stealing his chances to slip away from your brother to be able to see you even if all he did was to tease and joke around with you like an older brother would.

finally finally finally… a look into OC’s past, what a tragedy indeed! No wonder she doesn’t drive and his brother pick her up and drop her off. This just shows that each person has its own healing, healing is not timebound. Each person has their own way of coping up and healing and moving on. For Seokjin its a year, but for OC, no. Up until now she has not opened herself up. Or maybe, it takes the right person? For OC it took Seokjin’s arrival to finally let herself move on and feel something again, while Seokjin it was shorter coz OC was there on the very 1st day.

We are nearing the end, and i wanted so much for them to have their happiness - together or otherwise. They both deserve it.

I can never thank you enough, Dia! this is such an amazing story. I don’t know what you do in your dungeon, but this surpass everything i could ever want or expected. Thank you for not cutting corners. I always tease you about splitting story and about exceeding the word count you yourself has set, but it only shows how dedicated you are to a story.

chapter ix. sweet melody-1

You can no longer remember the last time you found yourself in a moment like this. Surrounded by nothing else but warmth that you just want to embrace it forever and curl inside it to hide away from the painful world and never let go.

You had no idea what to expect when you came back from the back kitchen to find your older brother sitting in Seokjin’s booth. Never once had you ever imagined seeing both men sitting together and having a conversation the way they did, but watching it happening right in front of your eyes felt as if you were witnessing both of your worlds colliding together.

And surprisingly, you didn’t find anything wrong with it at all.

finally! thank goodness for Minhyun! i’ve said it before, i will not fault Seokjin for being blind. he just lost his wife and taking care of theor daughter as well. its too much to be honest.

but, finally! we’re going on a dinner! i am so excited for the next chapters.

and hello??? has anyone noticed how Dia split sweet melody into 2? i am not surprise anymore, really. thank you Dia, its just a testament of how much you work hard for every story you put out.

chapter viii. drowning-2

It takes another two weeks before Minnie joins Seokjin and his daughter as they return to the cafe. This time, it had been Minnie who requested to go before Seokjin even had the chance to arrange for a special visit where they could all come together.

The moment Minnie suggested for them to go after working hours that day, he could already tell that there was something going on. That something wasn’t quite right.

As a matter of fact, he had noticed a lot of changes happening with his girlfriend for quite some time. Especially since she hasn’t been joining them on their hot chocolate and cinnamon bread dates after what had happened on their last visit to your cafe together.

yesssssss!!! finally!!! we’re almost finish (if Dia behaves & does not spend any time at her dungeon we only have 2 chapters, but knowing Dia she might end up having 1-2 extra chapters more, lol). honestly, i super love the development, Seokin finally realizing things and its ok that he took his time really. i admire Minnie, she wasn’t vindictive or angry at all. it takes so much maturity to read the situation for what it is and to let go peacefully. waiting for this fic was so worth it!

chapter vii. drowning-1

Have I gotten this all wrong?

Seokjin cannot shake the feeling that he may have gone over his head.

As a father, the only thing that Seokjin has ever wanted was to provide a good life for his daughter. All he ever wanted was to be able to do the best that he could to make sure that his little girl would continue to enjoy her childhood, especially for a child who had been much too young to understand grief the way adults could.

He has kept his chin up and stayed strong for the sake of keeping Soojin happy and teaching her how to be strong, hiding his own wounds while making sure that life will continue the way it should for her to grow up like any other children her age.

He has followed all the steps he had learned as a newly single father, took in everyone’s suggestions and did everything to the T. For everything that he has done, for every choice that he has made, he always made sure that Soojin would always come first.

The first decision that he has ever made for his own benefit was to start a relationship with a younger woman like Minnie.

its not surprising that it took a long time for Seokjin to come to these realizations. He lost his wife and he was grieving, he is not in a good space. Friends have good intentions most of the time, but i think going out on a date when he is not ready muddle his mind a bit, much less start a new relationship. On the other hand, our reader has 3 years to recover, yet she is not done yet. I dont think one can ever fully move on from any kind of loss. But, she is in a much better headspace and i admire her so much for not taking advantage of Seokjin’s situation, you know. I thought she was too late in letting her feelings known but now i realize that she ubderstand what Seokjin is going through coz shes been there before and she knows that he is not ready.

Whenever i read a series of mini series i always get scared coz as much as i want a happy ending i know that an author can go the way of realism, and sometimes that means the main character not getting together. I think that this is one of those story i wont mind if they end up just friends. For me a happy ending for them both is not to hurt that much over their loss, recover from their loss and find their happy ending, with or without each other. Dies that make sense?

Thanks Dia, this story is so much more than i expected. The prompt is something really close to my heart. Though a different loss, its still a loss. Thanks for breathing life into the prompt.

author appreciation!!!

¼ of the amazing quartet, i will do the other 3 in due time! i love my queen, i live for her werewolf au, plus there’s always the right mix of angst, fluff, and smut that is always chefs kiss… i super like that although her male characters are so obviously strong they are super soft too then it comes to female leads… and and and theres sort of redemption always for characters like Yoongi in Third Wheeling & Jimin in Bird Cage.

below are my fave fics from this author, but please do go ahead and browse all her works as they are all equally beautiful.

I Waited for You - just because its a Kim Seokjin fic and he’s an alpha!!! maybe i have not explored tumblr properly but i have come across very few Alpha Seokjin stories.

Welcome to Seoul Land - again, just because its a Kim Namjoon fic and werewolf au. my queen did not disappoint! Namjoon is so soft, ima cry…

When it Rain it Pours - i was swooning, a soft Namjoon for a roommate turned lovers…

What’s up Doc - ooohhhhh! soft Yoongi and i love the part where they whispers while waiting for test results, its so cute i swear! but, don’t be fooled coz we are talking about the queen here so the smut is top tier as per usual.

Snowed In&Live, Laugh, Love - bestfriends to lovers stories featuring our eternal sunshine Hoseok. imagine Hoseok telling his girlfriend that his best friend means the most to him in the world!!! if that is not in love i dont know what.. but, Hoseok in our queens story is amazing.

Siver & Blue - alpha Taehyung with lots of smuts, what else can you ask for?

Marshmallows and Report Card - i melted just like those marshmllows. Single dad AU for Taehyung.

The Price of Love - i swear i cried when i read this story… i mean can you blame me? its like lost and found love..

In Bloom - this is just sweet the kiss and make up is super lovely.. plus really imagine our baby bear Taehyung with tats…

Cabin Fever - our queen has lots of stories for Jungkook but this is my fave coz its hybrid story. the story is cute but then again the smut is hot!

show lots of love for our queen @untaemedqueen and follow and reblog pls pls pls

chapter iv. mortals

“Welcome to Cinnamon Bliss.”

Nari’s cheerful voice continues to fill the whole cafe for almost the entire afternoon. Even the whole vibe within the shop feels heavenly today. Inside, the atmosphere feels so light and warm despite the intense cold weather going on outside. You are pleased to find your co-workers showing their smiles constantly as they tend to the customers, and there doesn’t seem to be a sight of unhappy patron sitting in your cafe everywhere you look.

If only you could share all the excitement instead of feeling like you are in a constant slump. It is something that you call as your ‘holiday mood’, where you find yourself constantly in a somber mood which doesn’t fade so easily even as the holiday season comes and goes.

It had been this way last year, and the year before, and you still have no idea just how much longer this feeling would last. Even the calming scent of baked goods and sweets that have brought all these people together to your cafe does nothing to you when it would have been your remedy against your sorrow. Today, however, they are not doing you any good, except for the fact that they simply make you feel like there is a part of you that is missing and the things that you normally treasure could no longer help elevate your mood.

Summary:Four grown siblings return to their childhood hometown after their father is declared to be terminal. They are forced to live under the same roof for days, along with their overbearing mother, to say their final goodbyes. It starts off nostalgic until some unresolved family issues along with an assortment of spouses, exes, and might-have-beens make things even more interesting.

A/N:I’ve had this idea brewing for months now and it’s probably going to be one of my more ambitious AUs–more challenging than Scale, IMO. Four separate stories, converging into one. There’s going to be a LOT of angst, maybe some comedy…but definitely a lot of angst. If you’ve read my fics, you’ll know that I’m mostly inspired or prompted by movies or shows I’ve seen. This particular one has been inspired by This is Where I Leave You (2014). I’ve been thinking about a Kim Line fic for a while and I thought that this would be a perfect way to finally bring it to life!

Intro chapters will be posted as part of @btswritingcafe’s Specialty Coffee event.

@internetjunkdrawer – I know we’ve always joked about this series side-eyeing me as I kept working on other prompts instead of this. Now, I have no excuse!

Release date: June 2022

Namjoon is awakened by loud thumps and muffled conversations coming from above him. He feels around the nightstand for his watch. It was a makeshift nightstand–one that he assembled using an old dining chair and a desk lamp that he found in the basement–which was where your mom put him since all of the bedrooms in the house were taken.

He groans. It was just a little past 8:15 in the morning. Great. As if he didn’t just fall asleep less than three hours ago. He stretches the crick in his neck–this pull-out couch was not the most comfortable but at least he had the whole basement to himself. Alone. With his thoughts.

After a quick shower, he makes his way up the creaky steps and down the hall to the dining room, where everyone else was already seated and in the middle of a lively conversation.

“Well, good morning to you, sleepyhead!” Your mom beams at him from the head of the table. Her hair was all done up with a full face of makeup as if she were headed to a red carpet premiere.

“C’mon, darling, we saved you a spot,” she said loudly as the whole table continued their banter.

Namjoon walks over to take the open seat next to you. Your oldest brother, Jin hands over the plate of bacon to him, followed by a plate of eggs, offered by your younger brother Taehyung.

You poured him a glass of orange juice before you continued your story.

“Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah! So, I was around 10 and babysitting Tae—and uh, I realized that I had just gotten my period for the first time—which, I had no idea that was what it was then. And what do you know, dad walks into the room and sees blood on my clothes and flies into a panic.”

“Wait, so where was your mom in all this?” Jin’s wife, Yoojung, remarks.

Your mom smiled warmly. “I was in a remote location for ‘Valley of the Beast’ and we were filming some underwater scenes so they couldn’t really reach me,” she explains.

“Oh…gosh, I remember now. I remember when I biked past those news vans when the movie came out. It was pretty exciting,” she remarked.

“Right,” you continued. “So dad grabs me and Tae—throws us in the backseat of the car and he’s zooming past stop signs to get me to the hospital,” you begin to laugh.

“You want some more syrup for your waffles, love?” Jin asks her quietly.

She hesitates. “I really shouldn’t. The doctor says that too much sugar might not be good,” she replies softly.

He nods, putting the syrup dispenser back on the table, then leaning over to kiss her hair. She looks at him and smiles.

You see their sweet exchange out of the corner of your eye, but you continue your story without missing a beat. “So then he gets pulled over by Officer Cheong! And he goes, ‘Mr. Kim, do you know how fast you were going?’ And then dad practically yells at him like, ‘You don’t understand! My daughter is hemorrhaging! I need to get her to the emergency room!’ So Officer Cheong takes a look at me and Taehyungie in the backseat and checks to make sure that we were okay…but dad wouldn’t stop freaking out.”

Taehyung laughs. “That was a very exciting afternoon,” he says between spoonfuls of eggs.

Everyone around the table laughs because your dad can be so calm and collected especially during a busy night at the restaurant. And yet, at the faintest sight of blood or any medical emergency, all logic goes out the door.

Thankfully, Officer Cheong has three daughters and after concluding that you were not in any physical distress, he explains the situation to your dad and offers to provide a police escort to the nearest pharmacy to help him buy sanitary pads. The lady at the checkout counter was nice enough to tell you what to do.

Jin jumps in and connects the topic about a previous experience when he broke his fingers during a baseball game and his dad nearly fainted while he watched the doctor reset his digits in the emergency room.

Namjoon’s phone buzzes. He takes it out of his pocket to see ‘Victoria’ on the caller ID. He promptly rejects it.

“It’s your wife, why don’t you answer it?” You mumble at him.

“Why don’t you share another story about your cycle, YN?” He counters.

“What about you, Namjoon-ah?” Your mom says.

“Hm?”

“What’s your favorite memory of dad?”

“Uh…can we just circle back? Maybe Taehyung-ah can go next,” Namjoon says as he takes a bite of his bacon.

“I already went. Mine was pretty epic,” Taehyung replies.

He chuckles nervously. “How can I possibly follow YN’s story?”

“Oh, c’mon, Namjoon. Don’t you have any good memories of him?” Jin asks.

He tries to wave everyone off. “Sorry, guys. My mind’s just blanking out this morning. Didn’t sleep much last night.”

“You know, Joon, if you have any unresolved issues with your dad, now’s the time to get it all out,” your mom urges.

“Mom, why would you automatically assume that I have issues with dad? Maybe I just really can’t remember anything at the moment,” Namjoon answers with a slight hint of irritation.

Before she could argue, the doorbell rings and she excuses herself to answer it.

“Oooh! Wait, I’ve got another,” Taehyung volunteers excitedly. “So—I’m in the garage, searching for my beyblades in dad’s toolbox,” he trails off.

That took a load off Namjoon’s shoulders.

The conversation continues for a few more minutes until a chirping sound goes off.

Yoojung is slightly startled before looking at her phone to silence it. She clears her throat then gives her husband a look. “Uh, Jin?” She whispers, lightly tapping on his leg.

He sighs and slouches his shoulders slightly. “Now? Really?”

“Can’t do it by myself,” she mutters under her breath before she excuses herself and gets up from the table. After she puts her dish in the sink she heads down to the hallway and up the stairs to their bedroom.

“What’s up?” Namjoon asks.

Jin gets up from his seat begrudgingly and takes his own dish to the sink. “I have to have sex,” he announces blandly.

Taehyung snorts. “Jin-hyung, sex is supposed to be fun!”

“Yeah, well, not when it’s on a schedule.” He says before he trudged down the hallway and upstairs to his waiting wife.

“Well, whatever you do, keep it down so you don’t wake dad up,” Namjoon jokes.

“Very funny, Namjoon-ah,” Jin yells sarcastically from the landing.

The dining room windows have a full view of the driveway across the street.

Namjoon glances at you to find you watching the neighbor walk out of the front door towards his car.

“Enjoying the view?” He whispers in your ear.

“Shut up,” you said, turning your attention back to your plate of pancakes.

“We should ask him if he wants to stop by here and grab a bite before heading to work,” he teases.

“I’m sure Hobi can afford to get his own breakfast anywhere,” you snarked.

“I remember when I used to see him sneak out of your room before breakfast,” Namjoon says under his breath before snickering.

His body jerks, nearly knocking the table over when you pinch him on this thigh. Taehyung gives you both a quizzical look until your mom’s voice bellows down the hallway.

“Taehyung! Look who’s here,” your mom says as she walks into the dining room with company.

“Eunhae?” Taehyung looks like he’s just seen a ghost. She was the last person he expected to show up at your childhood home.

“She introduced herself and said she was your friend. I was just having a lovely conversation with her. She said she’d heard about dad and wanted to pay her respects. Isn’t that sweet?”

You cleared your throat, prompting your younger brother to introduce his ‘friend’ to everyone.

“Uh—Namjoon-hyung, YN-noona, this is Eunhae. She’s a good friend from the city.” He says nervously.

She smiles and bows politely to everyone in the room. “Jin-hyung is uhm, in the middle of something but, I can introduce you later,” he utters before giving you an uncomfortable look.

You already knew about Eunhae though you were equally surprised to see that she actually came out to your hometown, given your past conversations with Taehyung.

He immediately dotes on her, offering her breakfast as she takes her seat next to him.

Namjoon doesn’t suspect a thing and is distracted by rejecting yet another call from Victoria.

This was your family. You loved them with all your heart. However, in the rare cases that you all got together under one roof, it always spelled chaos. But it was chaos you’d choose over any picture-perfect life.

summary:An eye for an eye is the old saying. But sometimes, people are greedy when it comes to revenge. Seokjin is that guy. Cross him over, and he’ll burn down everything in his path. People may compare him to a monster, but you see him as a man who’s been wrongfully accused. He’s your dark knight, and you are his angel. Ride or die describes your relationship perfectly, but you wouldn’t compare yourself to Bonnie and Clyde.

If revenge is best served cold, then betrayal must be delivered with a block of ice.

You’re unable to recognize the man who was once so gentle and kind. His face is adorned with the same grin that he’s always used to lure you in. Only now, it’s much darker, more sinister than it’s ever been.

The man you admired is long gone. Only a monster remains, a damn-good looking one, in fact. Seokjin used his appearance to his advantage while he was in prison. He sweet-talked you into believing he was an innocent man, framed by the system.

But shortly after you assisted him in his prison escape, losing your job and freedom in the process—you discovered that Seokjin should have remained locked away until he died. However, now it is too late for regrets. You’re too deep in the hole you’ve dug for yourself.

“Only give her what she deserves, angel.” His delicate plump lips form a smirk. You observe them carefully, wondering how they feel. Are they as moist and soft as they look? “I’m just gonna make sure this bitch burns for what she did.”

The woman tied to the chair begins thrashing and squirming when she hears those words because she knows better than anyone that he will. Seokjin shows no mercy, especially for his ex-wife—and honestly, neither do you.

What Seokjin is doing is wrong and unjustified, but this isn’t just some innocent woman he chooses to torment. No. She’s nothing but an evil bitch, and everything she’s getting is well deserved.

She cheated on him with a married man. On Seokjin’s birthday, he found her and her lover having sex in their marital bed. She laughed in his face and told him he was lucky that she was even still with his boring ass. She’d been using the money he gave her to buy her lover nice things behind her husband’s back.

Seokjin was furious, and his rage was inflicted on the other guy. He roughed him up and kicked them both out on the street. Of course, his leech of an ex-wife tried to tail behind her boyfriend, but he rejected her advances.

The man had no intention of leaving his wife, and that infuriated her. She killed him in the driveway, and with the help of her crooked detective dad, she was able to frame Seokjin for the crime. She took everything after his arrest—the money, the house, his business. And he was left with nothing and no one.

You decided to help him after you heard this story. Putting the pieces together, you concluded he was telling the truth. You felt for him, and could relate to the feeling of being cheated on. It wasn’t easy, but somehow you managed to help him escape from prison. You two have been on the run since—only stopping to check another person off of his hit list.

First, was the dirty prosecutors and judge over his case, then his ex-father-in-law, and now, the woman who started it all, the former Mrs. Kim. But you’ve dreaded this moment. Not because he’s about to commit another murder, but because the next person on his list is innocent in all of this. The wife of his ex’s deceased lover, who has nothing to do with this. However, Seokjin wants everyone to suffer.

You thought you could save him. You really wanted to be his reason to love again—but only vengeance lies in Seokjin’s heart now. It’s far too late for love.

“But isn’t that too easy for her, babe? What if we dragged it out a little bit.” He raises one of his perfect eyebrows with a bit of interest.

“And what would that be, angel?” He’s slightly amused by the sudden boldness, but also fond and a bit impressed.

Curiosity covers his face when you drop to your knees. He clears his throat when you reach for his belt buckle, but does not stop you.

“Seeing you happy, that’ll kill her.” You wink at him while unbuttoning his pants.

You pull them down enough to remove his dick from his boxers, watching how he bites his lip when you begin moving your hand up and down his length.

Seokjin releases a small sigh as your tongue rolls over the tip of his cock, licking up a small amount of precum that has seeped out. You use your spit to lubricate him while he hardens in your hand.

Seokjin grabs your hair and chuckles. “Angel’s gonna show you how it’s done. Maybe next time you’ll actually be able to snatch someone’s husband if you pay attention.”

Your mouth opens wide, and he guides your head forward until his dick touches your lips. You take him in until he’s nestled deep inside of you, moaning at the taste of his dick. Your eyes water from the stretch, but you adjust quickly by relaxing your throat.

Breathing through your nose and keeping eye contact, you bob your head up and down while slurping and salivating over his length. The muffled cries of his envious ex-wife only fuels you to keep going, and pride swells in your chest when you notice Seokjin’s blissful state.

You know his mind is no longer on the woman who broke his heart, but on the woman who tried to fix it. He acknowledges your efforts, and that is all you can ask for.

“Shit, I’m gonna come, angel,” he grunts, grabbing both sides of your head and holding you still.

Seokjin then uses your mouth to finish himself off since time is limited and you cannot get carried away. You’re sure to breathe through your nose and relax your muscles so  that his dick can enter as smoothly as possible.

A puddle forms beneath you—a mixture of saliva and both of your arousals. Two of your fingers work at a rapid speed to provide the self-pleasure you’re craving. Your eyes involuntarily roll back in response to satisfaction from the feeling of having both holes filled at once.

“You feel so good, angel…gonna feed you well, okay?” Seokjin promises, and your stomach bubbles with excitement.

The sensations of your moans drive him closer to his release. He thrusts deep into your mouth unexpectedly, hitting the back of your throat and causing you to gag around him.

Your orgasm also hits you without a warning, and your walls pulse around your fingers as you ride out your climax. Your sounds of pleasure have Seokjin shooting his load shortly after, and his cum warms and soothes your sore airways.

You swallow him greedily, enjoying the way his humming travels through the room like soft tunes. It’s captivating how someone so cold has such a beautiful voice. It’s just amazing how ethereal and god-like he is, especially as he stares down at you during his post-orgasmic bliss.

“You’re everything I could ever want,” Seokjin whispers, slowly sliding out of you.

He wipes away the tears you have shed and your cum-stained lips before helping you up and smoothing out the tiny wrinkles in your dress.

You cannot deny the joy that fills your heart when he says those words, but your breakthrough is short-lived when the woman bound and gagged begins to thrash around again. She’s angry, and you can make out the disgusting things she is calling you both.

“I think it’s time to shut her up.”

Seokjin tucks himself back in his pants and grabs his machete from the table behind you, prepared to make his way towards her.

“Wait.” You grip his arm to stop him. The scowl on his face softens when he looks at you. “Let me.”

“Angel, I don’t think you have it in you,” he chuckles.

“But I’d do it for you.” He pulls you closer and you look at him with pleading eyes. “I just want to make you happy.”

And that does it.

“Okay, angel.” Seokjin sighs, leaning forward to press his forehead against yours. He places a small kiss on your lips; it’s his way of showing you what little affection he possesses. “I’ll be right outside if you need me.”

You nod, and he pulls away before turning to his ex-wife one last time.

“You’re the one who should be calling her angel because she just saved your ass, bitch.” He tells her before leaving the old farm.

Once he’s out of there, you turn to the pathetic excuse of a human sitting in the middle of the room.

“Don’t call me your angel.” You remove your handgun from your thigh holster and set it on the table. “…because I’m not here to save you. The only mercy you had just walked out of the door.”

Her face turns pale when you pick up a knife and make your way towards her. When you straddle her, she freezes with fear. Tears form in her eyes when the weapon comes up to her cheek. You slide it under the dirty rag used to muffle her screams then tear the fabric so she can speak. The blade leaves a small cut on her skin in the process, but you could care less.

“Do you know who the fuck I am?” you ask her, and she shakes her head nervously. “Hey, open your mouth when I ask you a question, whore. You had no problem keeping it wide when my husband was shoving his dick inside of it.”

The woman’s eyes widen at the realization of how fucked she is. You smile at her and give her a second to take it all in before you speak. When she tries to look away, you grab her face and force her to return her attention to you.

“Gives you chills, doesn’t it? Looking in the face of your killer, knowing that this is the last thing you’ll ever see before you leave this earth. I bet my scumbag husband felt the same way.”

“Ma’am, please. I’m so sorry for ruining your marriage, but I didn’t kill your husband. I swear—”

“Stop your fucking lying. I had been thinking of ways to get rid of the son of a bitch anyway,” you confess, and the woman is at a loss for words.

“And honey, a bit of advice, cheat with men who are actually worth the risk. That loser was terrible in bed. But Seokjin…that man can please you without even lifting a finger.”

A smirk forms on your face. “I had a blast fucking your ex-husband. Too bad I’m next on his little list.”

“You need to stay away from him. He’s crazy,” she warns.

No…he’s pissed off. But so am I.”

You move some of the hair out of her face. She’s by far one of the prettiest women you’ve ever laid eyes on, but unfortunately her soul is hideous.

“He’s manipulating you, using you to fulfill his twisted plan. You’re following him around like a lost puppy. Can’t you see you’re being used?” she cries.

“Ha! Is that what you think is happening here? Oh sweetie, you really are dumb as a box of rocks.” You get directly in her face. “Bitch, you have no idea who you’re fucking with, do you? I am the whore you’re inspiring to be. The one that’s fucking your man so good that he can’t even take a shit without consulting with me first.”

It’s your specialty; men always fall for the obedient type. All you have to do is worship the ground they walk on, and they’re hooked. They want your attention, need your approval, and that’s what gets them caught up in your web.

“You know I was minding my own business, and your homewrecking ass just had to ruin everything. You killed my husband—”

“You didn’t even love him!” Her interruption earns her a slap across the face.

“Let me fucking finish,” you seethe. “What I mean is that you killed him before he could make me sole beneficiary. I could have had it all, but you had to fucking be bitch.”

You stand to your feet.

“Now, both you and your handsome ex-husband are going to have to pay for it. I know he emptied your accounts behind my back, and when I’m done in here, I’m going to put a bullet in that empty heart of his,” you wink.

“Seokj—” You stuff her mouth with the torn rag before she can scream his name.

“Goodbye, love. I hope you pass out before the flames start scorching that beautiful skin.”

Her screams and pleas fall upon deaf ears as you make your way to the exit. Hopefully, she’s learned her lesson about stepping outside of her marriage to fuck up another.

…all of you motherfuckers can burn in hell,” is the last thing you say to her.

Seokjin’s been played too many times to fall for a pair of doe-like eyes and a nice ass. He knows exactly what you’re doing, acting all innocent and obedient. You aren’t fooling him at all. He remembers the twisted look on your face when you saw your own name on his hit list. All trust was lost at that very moment. Because he then knew that you were just as fucked up as he.

You are beautiful, intelligent, sexy…every man’s dream—but also his worst nightmare. The power your cunt holds over him is fatal, and Seokjin’s been playing a game of Russian Roulette. It’s going to suck putting a bullet between your pretty eyes, but it must be done. You’re just a snake that’s wrapped itself around his neck, and it’s only a matter of time before you constrict.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way, but you were hard to resist. And to be honest, the thought of wrecking the man’s wife who did the same to his satisfied Seokjin in more ways than one. It’s such a shame that it all has to end here.

“Babe, it’s done…light her up!” He hears your sweet voice call out from behind him.

Seokjin smirks as he cocks his gun.

“Don’t worry, angel. I will.”

bargaining. the third stage of grief

-

“Is something on your mind?”

You looked up from the pearl buttons of your blouse. “Eh?”

A tweak of his head and there was that childish, wonderous expression that only belonged to the handsome Kim Seokjin. Correction, the most handsome of them all Kim Seokjin. He would correct you if you spoke out loud and, at this point, your brain did it for you.

He stuck his full lips out and shifted his brows in inquiry. “If you’re running through your thoughts, you’ll get tired, you know. You don’t do enough cardio.”

You blinked at him.

Seokjin pulled a pout, nudging your leg. “Come on. You would have laughed before. What’s wrong?”

“That was really bad.”

He stuck his tongue out. “Bleh, and so what? You’re paid to laugh at them, so laugh!”

“Ha ha ha?”

“Ugh, stop, that’s even worse.”

You smiled at Seokjin’s look of disgust.

His gaze softened at your smile. He reached up and poked your cheek, half-smiling sheepishly.

“Hey. There it is.”

You looked back into those eyes that everyone thought held superficial, self-centered thoughts, but to you those orbs were chocolate, unaware of their own sweetness that melted at your touch. He smiled, a little extra fullness in those cheeks, his dark hair sticking up on one side because of your hand running through it earlier.

“I was afraid I couldn’t make your smile anymore,” he said softly, stroking your cheek.

I’m not like him.

You lifted your hand and held his, keeping your smile on your face. Just for him.

I know, I know, I’m not like him.

“You can make anyone smile, Seokjin,” you whispered back. “You’re so good at it.”

I wish everything’s a lie.

He squinted, suspicious. “Are you calling me a dork?”

Your smile grew, ghost of a laugh mingling with your words. “No, I’m complimenting you and your acting skills. You’re good at serious moments too. Drama. Romance. Even action. Kim Seokjin can do anything.”

“Well, they have stunt doubles for the crazyshit.”

You knew you were supposed to laugh, and you were so close to doing so, so close to reaching out and grasping onto the threads of the laugh at the edge of your throat, but you missed, finding only air, only zero at your fingertips, and Seokjin’s hand was falling from yours, empty-handed and empty-hearted, I wish everything’s a lie, and his lips were forming your name but you couldn’t hear it because he was in the world of winners and you were in the paradise of losers, the distance too far to see, too far to go.

Seokjin’s large hand fitted to your cheek.

You felt moistness pool at his thumb.

“What’s wrong? Do you need more this time? It’s okay. I don’t mind.”

You could clutch onto those bills forever, fill your hands with them until they overflowed, but it was all empty, empty because zero multiplied by anything was nothing.

“No… No, Seokjin, it’s okay–”

“Don’t worry, I have plenty. I completely understand,” he chided gently, wiping your tears away. “You’re embarrassed, huh? Come. Let me give you more this time.”

There is no more time.

And Seokjin could stuff your pockets full of cash until they spilled out of your expensive coat and tumbled to the ground, cover you in the bills, smother you with them, blot your tears with a silk handkerchief and correct your makeup with the softest powder puff, and yet everything was zero, zero, zero.

You grabbed his wrist, clutching it tightly.

Seokjin let you, biting his lip, knowing everything was zero, zero, zero.

“I tried. You have to believe me that I tried. This is the best I could do,” he whispered softly. “I’m sorry. We don’t have to do this anymore. I know it hurts you more than anyone else. I don’t want to hurt you. I’ve done that too much already.”

But you were shaking your head, the word falling from your lips once more, no, because you knew he tried, he tried so hard to fight for you but his parents didn’t allow it, silver spoon never allowed to dine next to a pewter one, and so Seokjin married a woman he knew couldn’t bear children, all so you and him could have these moments, these appointed hours and money overflowing between you and him amongst tangled limbs and kisses that blew you away, because if you couldn’t have him, then maybe he could have…

Have one.

And leave you with zero.

Because you could never be a trust fund baby no matter how much you loved him and how much he loved you.

“I’m okay, I’m okay, Seokjin, it was just a moment, it’s nothing…”

And you reassured him, you recomposed yourself, you placed kisses on his worried expression and told him not to worry, whispering to his hair, I love you, I love you, I love you, and he looked up at you with childish, wonderous eyes, checking if you really were okay, and you gave him your smiles, your laughter, anything but the ultrasound stuffed to the bottom of your purse, just to have these few more moments of lingering forever even though you knew you had already lost this game.

There was no game over for Kim Seokjin.  Only the beginning of a new journey.

Once your job was done, it was goodbye.

I wish everything’s a lie.
