I…I just need to talk?

Okay, first of all, hi - been a while! I finally saw the film yesterday and I just need to say:

THANK YOU MARVEL FOR SHOWING ANDREW GARFIELDS SPIDER-MAN THE RESPECT HE DESERVES!!!

I was so so gutted when his movies got shelved. Each Peter Parker has been brilliant but I just loved Andrew. He deserved all those wonderful moments in this film - Tobey’s Peter telling him he is amazing, not lame (!), saving MJ (tears were shed), just everything about him being back made me so freakin’ happy.

The nostalgia of seeing Tobey again was also so so brilliant. That villain era is my favourite and I was so happy to see Alfred Molina back (I met him once, SUPER LOVELY GUY), especially having Doc Oc be good which he really always was. Willem Dafoe bringing that haunting Green Goblin energy as well, I felt like a kid again.

And let’s just take a moment for May being the Ben of this universe, she delivered *that* line then died and I was like…damn, we had an origin trilogy? Let’s give our sweet MCU Peter Parker a break now please.

Spider-Man No Way Home spoiler

I think that the death of Aunt May was sadder and more impactful than either of the Uncle Bens dying in Sam Raimi’s trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man movies. In both Tobey and Andrew’s cases, their uncle Ben died early on, he was never really developed. He was more of a motivator for them, their origin story, rather than a fleshed out character. But Aunt May got two full Spider-Man movies of development, plus bits and pieces in Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame. She was fully three dimensional. Plus, she had been the reason Peter wanted to help the villains even before she died, she convinced him they needed help. It’s even sadder when you think about the implications of Strange’s spell; she’s the only one who remembered Peter Parker and Spider-Man were one and the same. It was also incredibly ballsy of them to kill of Aunt May, and it packed a huge emotional punch to watch someone we knew and loved so well die.

Thank you for all you have done, Aunt May. Peter will honor your legacy
