Inktober day 10: gigantic & zombie/frankenstein witch
Making golems is never easy work, especially when the family business prides itself on handmaking each one. While Antonia would rather be the one to coax them to life at the very end, she must start at the bottom of the chain and build the creatures piece by piece before her magical ability can be tested.

Inktober day 9: screech & Medusa
Though the snakes shiver and screech every minute of the day, Medusa finds that they are very useful in keeping unwanted advances away.

Inktober day 8: crooked & scout/camping witch
One more badge and she would be able to join the coven. A survival test, culminating in the discovery of the initiation grounds. What the light sprite tucked in her bag didn’t tell her, however, is that she was looking at the map….sideways this entire time.

Inktober day 7: shy & fairy godmother
“Oh! You’re here. Okay well - your fairy godmother called out sick so I’ll be helping you tonight. Hope you don’t mind, it’s kind of my first time out in the field.”

Inktober day 6: sword & noir witch
It felt boorish to kill the detective with the ceremonial dagger, but he got close. Far too close. She couldn’t have anyone knowing her secret of witchcraft.

Inktober day 5: long & totally 80′s witch
She has hidden in plain sight for nearly 30 years. Many have called her out-of-fashion, but she doesn’t care. They always come back for her potions.

Inktober day 4: underwater & gemstone witch
Her grandmother would regale her with tales of being a pearl diver in years past. When her magic emerged in her teen years, she was more than happy to apply it to the ancient practice.

Inktober day 3: poison & avian/winged witch
What the seraphim offered was clear. Knowledge. This knowledge forever twisted and poisoned the witch’s mind. Slowly she began to twist and break into a mass of shivering, grotesque wings. Around her unblinking, all-knowing eyes forever hovered in a dance of judgement.

Inktober day 2: divided & student witch
Safa’s attention could never stay in one place. That’s where the conjured duplicates came in. They went through her drills and boring work while she let herself dive deeper and deeper into the history of magic.

Gold Dust Woman
bySteen
ink, pencil, gold paint
For the fourth prompt of “Metamorphosis” for Month of Love. Based on the lyrics from Gold Dust Woman, by Fleetwood Mac:
Did she make you cry/ Make you break down/ Shatter your illusions of love/ And is it over now do you know how/ Pick up the pieces and go home.
This song means so many different things all at once. In the context of my life right now, it means even more.

ink & digital
For the second prompt of “Innocence” for Month of Love. Based, loosely, on this excerpt from Mary Oliver’s poem, Wild Geese:
You do not have to be good. /You do not have to walk on your knees /for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. /You only have to let the soft animal of your body /love what it loves.
