Cherubim
‘The cherubim are winged creatures, but the form of them does not resemble that of any living creature seen by man’ (Josephus).
They signify presence of divinity and are guardians of the sacred and of the threshold.
As tetramorphs cherubim are the quaternary of elemental powers guarding the centre of Paradise which is inaccessible to the unregenerate man.
They combine the bull (Taurus), lion (Leo), eagle (Scorpio), and man (Aquarius), symbolizing the four elements, the four corners of the earth and, in Christianity, the four Evangelists.
After the Seraphim they are the highest of the nine orders of angels.
In heraldry a cherub is depicted as a child’s head (purity and innocence) between a pair of wings (spiritual nature).
Yahweh is 'enthroned’ upon the cherbuim’ (I Sam. 4,4).
The throne of the Temple of Jerusalem in the Holy of Holies was flanked by two cherubim and the throne was formed by their wings.

In Isaiah it is stated: 'Each had six wings, with twain he covered his face, with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly.’
In Heraldry, a seraph’s head is depicted as that of a child, as purity, with three pairs of wins.

Sounding the trumpets

Following Celestine and the Exorcist, here are are some pictures of my Seraphim squad. They wear my order’s traditional colours, grey armour and purple robes and they are armed with bolt pistols and their Superior wields a power sword. I replaced their jump packs with the wings from the Sanuinary Guard of the Blood Angels. These wings fit to the Seraphim’s backs as if they were made for it and I plan to build more of these (if only the wings wouldn’t be that hard to find on eBay or elsewhere…argh). I’m really into this angel-theme and I want to use some stylized wings (maybe from Blood Angels or Dark Angels or even from the High Elves from Warhammer) to convert some “normal” sisters so they differ a little from other squads and I want them to be remembered as Dominons when I play them as Dominions and not like: “Uhhhh… could be Retributors, could be Dominions, could be Celestians, but also standard sisters…”. To make it short, I will make the troops look different, if they are different units, I’m quite unhappy about GW’s stepmotherly treatment of the sisterhood. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to insult them att all, I like the models and the story, but a little, just a little bit variety between the units would be nice.
By the way, I finishes Marcuss a few days ago (well, it’s been a week now). Pictures will follow.
Nach Celestine und dem Exorzist sind hier ein paar Bilder meiner Seraphim. Sie tragen die traditionellen Farben meines Ordens, graue Rüstung und purpurne Roben und sind mit Boltpistolen bewaffnet; ihre Prioris trägt ein Energieschwert. Die Sprungmodule habe ich durch die Flügeln der Sanguinischen Garde der Blood Angels ersetzt, die Flügel passen an die Rücken der Seraphim wie angegossen und ich habe vor, noch mehr davon zu basteln (wenn nur die Flügel nicht so schwer zu kriegen wären…argh). Das ganze Engelthema, das man aus den Schwestern machen kann, gefällt mir ziemlich gut und ich möchte mit anderen, stilisierten Federn (von den Blood Angels, Dark Angels oder den Hochelfen von Warhammer) auch die normalen Fußtruppen umbauen, so dass sie untereinander gut zu unterscheiden sind und der Gegner nicht rätselt: “Mhhh…könnten Retributorinnen sein, oder Dominatorinnen, vielleicht auch Celestias oder normale Sororitas….”. Um es kurz zu machen, wenn die Einheiten andere sind, sollen sie auch anders aussehen, hier bin ich ziemlich unzufrieden damit, wie stiefmütterlich GW die Schwesternschaft behandelt. Versteht mich nicht falsch, ich will nicht generell auf den Laden schimpfen, ich mag die Modelle und den Hintergrund, aber ein wenig mehr Abwechslung zwischen den Modellen wäre schon schön.
Übrigens ist Marcuss vor ein paar Tagen (gut, schon vor einer Woche) fertig geworden. Bilder folgen.

Remember those angel pin concepts I posted? Well I went ahead and got them made! I don’t have them in hand yet. But I got some photos from the factory! I opened up preorders a week or so ago and I’m surprised at how fast they went.
They will be visiting earth again soon! Keep watch for any updates.
