the last chapter won’t be posted till the first of june! the end of may is a really difficult time for my family so I probably won’t be writing as much!

Word Count: 1528 Summary:puppy and wes share their news with the clinic. A/N:in pup’s pov! I really just said “imma jump the shark in the five parts” and then i did. And here’s the thing, i was doing good, and then i got to the end and didn’t know what to do… next week (aka the last chapter) will hopefully be a little bit better lmao
I couldn’t stop staring. My eyes were seemingly glued the the giantrock that was now attached to my finger. The way that the sun made it sparkle and shimmer was astounding. The true meaning behind it made my heart flutter. All the love and thoughts that went into it made me… excited. It made me excited for the future that I’d get for the rest of my life with Wes. However, my excitement was getting in the way of work and one of my friends.
Jessica, who was standing on the other side of the counter, was looking down at me. I could feel her excited buzz from my seat at the desk. When I glanced away from the engagementring on my finger and up at my friend, I smiled. She was staring at me with an equally excited smile.
“I wanna see it again,” she demanded. I smiled before looking at the ring once again. Not a moment later did I peel my eyes off the ring before showing my hand to my friend.
“Careful,” I whispered as she took my hand in hers. The look she gave me silently told me that she wasgoing to be careful.
“Wow, he really spent a pretty penny on you!” she shouted the longer she stared at the ring. My eyes were wide as I stared at her, watching as she inspected my ring.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked as I pulled my hand away from the girl and back on my lap. Jessica looked down at me with an even larger smile.
“He treats you right,” she whispered as she leaned over the counter slightly. I smiled and shrugged. “When’s the wedding then?”
“That’s a question for the big guy. I wanted to do it before we moved, but now he want’s to wait till October,” I explained as I rolled my eyes. Jessica stood up, still as snow, as she stared at me. The shocked expression on her face was a little alarming.
“Wait, you guys are moving?” she asked, her tone gentle. My eyes widened again when realization suddenly hit me. Jessica didn’t know I accepted the college application…
“Shit, I knew I was forgetting something,” I muttered mostly too myself.
“What?”
“We’re moving to New Hampshire,” I started as I looked back at my friend. She was staring back at me, her eyes still wider than dinner plates. “Wes is going to open his own clinic out there… And I’m going back to school. When I’m done with that… I’ll work the clinic with him,” I explaiend as I sat back in the desk chair. A look of murderous intent settled in her eyes as she stared at me, making me feel somewhatscared. Of course, though, I knew she wouldn’t actually do anything to me.
“You bitch! You’re leaving me?!” she half shouted. I stared at her, my eyebrows slowly raising.
“I mean, you can come with. I’m sure we’ll need the techs and assistants,” I explained. She hummed, cocking her head to the side and nodded. Quietly coming from the hallway beside us was Wes. His white lab coat hung off him, swaying gently behind him as he walked. A light pink shirt was under it. I couldn’t stop the smile that grew across my lips the moment I saw him.
“What’re you guys talking about?” Wes asked as he approached the counter. I smiled and looked down at my ring.
“You guys are moving,” Jessica stated so bluntly. My eyes shifted to look at my fiance, watching as he slowly lowered his clipboard and looked at Jessica with wide eyes. She had a neutral expression, obviously hurt that we left her out of that. Er, well, I was the one who left her out. Wes could literally care less about what Jessica thinks about ourlives. “You know you haveyo get married before you leave.”
“Oh, well,” he paused, glanced at me and then down at his watch. “I’m not doing anything in an hour, which means she’s not doing anything in an hour, why not now? City hall should still be open then,” he stated so firmly. When he looked over at me, I was still too shocked to say anything.
I sputtered for a moment, earning entertained glances from Wes and Jessica. With a final exhale, I finally spoke. “Wes, no. I’m wearing my scrubs, covered in sweat and grime. Not to mention Ollie and Pomelia needattention,” I argued back. Wes looked at me with a smug smile and shrugged.
“I mean, we do have a shower here,” he pointed out. I stared at him, feeling my shoulders fall forward slightly. He wasn’t wrong. The staff bathrooms didhave showers for unfortunate incidences. This was notan unfortunate incident though. This was rather a veryfortunate one. Maybe that could be the start of something new.
“And… I might have something in my car you can wear instead of your scrubs,” Jessica murmured as she looked at me. I froze and looked up at Wes, my eyes were wide as I very slowly realized what I was going to do after work.
“Are-Are we going to do this… today?”
“I’d rather a courthouse wedding today than plan for 6 months as well as moving. Get it out of the way,” Wes explained with a shrug. I glanced back at Jessica, noting the smug smile on her lips as she stepped away from the desk and stepped outside. “We don’t haveto do that, Pups. It was just an idea.”
“Woah, woah, I never said I didn’t want to do that. I was just… I wasn’t expecting it to happen as quick as it did. I mean, you only proposed last week,” I explained as I stood up from the desk. Wes smiled the moment I took a step closer to him. His hand slipped from his pocket and was instantly wrapped around my waist. “I woulda married you right on the spot when you proposed last week, all you had to do was ask.”
“I couldn’t exactly marry you on the spot last week, Pup. Remember there was just a slight red light before you actuallysaid yes?” he asked as he pulled me closer to him. I nervously laughed and nodded. Maybe I should just marry Wes right here, right now, in my stinky scrubs.
“Yeah, yeah I do remember that slight red light,” I whispered as I tilted my head up to look up at him. “Let’s get married after work,” I quickly added. A soft smile grew across Wes’ lips before he pressed them against mine.
“Wait!” he shouted before throwing a hand over his eyes. I stared at him, an eyebrow raising and a smile growing across my lips.
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
“It’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding,” he explained before blindly kissing my face. I laughed and shook my head.
“Wes, you’ve literally seen me all day. And that’s just a silly little superstition,” I said as I tried moving his hand from his face. When I finallyremoved his hand, he only threw the other one over his eyes. “Oh my god, Wesley!”
“You-You stay out here, Puppy! I’ll see you at the courthouse after!” “Wes! I work for you!”
“Yeah, and now you work reception! Love you!” Wes shouted as he walked down the hall towards his office. I stared at where he once stood, disbelief taking over as he left me in the waiting room. I only moved when Jessica returned with a bag full of stuff intended for me.
“Wait, where’d Wes go?” Jessica asked as she stood beside me. I swallowed roughly and looked over at her.
“Bad luck to see the bride before the wedding,” I said softly. She looked back at me with a small smile.
“Can I just say how happyI am that you’re marrying that motherfucker. I remember when you still had a little crush on him the first time you laid eyes on him. Puppy love,” she cooed before pressing her lips to my cheeks.
“Yeah…Puppylove.”
“Sign here, and here,” the desk clerk said, pointing at two different lines. A small smile grew across my lips as I grabbed a pen and quickly signed my name on the lines. The clerk then looked over at Wes, nodding to the same lines that I had just signed. Wes took the pen from me before signing his name.
“Congratulations, you are now married,” the clerk said before taking the paper back.
“That’s it?” I asked, looking between Wes, Jessica (who was our witness), and the desk clerk. The clerk looked up at me from behind their glasses and shrugged.
“What were you expecting?” Jessica asked as we left the courthouse. I shrugged and looked at Wes.
“A little more than signing a paper, I guess,” I responded, grabbing Wes’ hand. He looked over at me and smiled, pulling me closer to him.
“I’m just happy its over with, Mrs. Taylor,” Wes whispered before pressing my lips.
“I’m seriously going to throw up,” Jessica muttered as she stepped ahead of us.
“Now we just have to move…”
