“Don’t you mean pork, sir?” said Carrot warily, eying the glistening tubes.
“Manner of speaking, manner of speaking,” said Throat quickly. “Certainly your actual pig products. Genuine pig.”

The watch arrives at the city square, where some kid with a sword is challenging the dragon. As always in Ankh Morpork, capitalism trumps public safety. In the process, Carrot and Lady Ramkin witness Cut Me Own Throat’s pork… products for the first time.
I tried to make the scene frame the crowd as much as possible. Perhaps I should have zoomed back just a little bit more.
“They’re chaining a woman to a rock!

Lady Ramkin is dragged to the city center to be chained to a rock to be served to the dragon. Where they got the rock is a bit of a mystery. Ankh Morpork is on loam.
I tried to keep from making Sybil look like a victim as much as possible.
Lady Ramkin appeared. He got a brief, blurred vision of her bounding through the doorway, screaming, and it might’ve been the last thing he remembered if a guard hadn’t had the presence of mind to trip her up as she hurtled down the steps.

The dragon’s diet consists of maidens of high birth. But this is Ankh Morpork and maidens are hard to find. So the day watch is sent to find the most high-born maiden in the city, Lady Ramkin. She doesn’t go quietly.
It was tricky fitting this scene into this setting and probably would work better in a letterbox format. Still, I was mostly happy with how it turned out.
*Spoilers for The Fifth Elephant*
Hey so ya’ll remember that scene where Vimes literally just PASSES OUT while Sybil negotiates trade deals with the dwarf king? Because it’s my favorite.
@cosmicrhetoric You are 100% correct and I’m 100% all about this. :)
Small drawing inspired by this post:)
“ ‘You haven’t killed your wife,’ he said. 'Anywhere. There is nowhere, however huge the multiverse is, where Sam Vimes as he is now has murdered Lady Sybil. But the theory is quite clear. It says that if anything could happen without breaking any physical laws, it must happen. But it hasn’t. And yet the "many universes” theory works. Without it, no one would ever be able to make a decision at all.’
'So?’
'So what people do matters!’ said Sweeper. 'People invent other laws. What they do is important… It means that the multiverse isn’t infinite and people’s choices are far more vital than they think. They can, by what they do, change the universe.’ “

Listening to the Audiobook of The Fifth Elephant for the umpteenth time and the bit towards the end that goes into how Sybil Ramkin has always been treated by society and the emotional baggage she carries from it STILL makes me cry
Vimes, Vetinary and Sybil
“Vimes sank gloomily into his armchair. It was, he felt, a persistent flaw in his wife’s otherwise practical and sensible character that she believed, against all evidence, that he was a man of many talents.”
-Terry Pratchett’s The Fifth Elephant
“She sat on the bed and stared at the wall until the shouting started, and when the shouting started she knew Sam was alive and well, because only Sam made people that angry.”

sooo after about 3 years of not posting art on here I think it’s time I start again! I’ve dove head first back into one of my first fandom loves - discworld! and I think tumblr is the best home for all my conceptual scribbles, so this is just a bit of a warning for those following me of what content to expect for the foreseeable future (though I’m sure fantasy gays will still be dotted around). if that’s not your bag that’s totally understandable, and if it is well enjoy the next wee while of me slowly uploading the last few months worth of discworld fan art! here’s a sketch dump from across a handful of the books to get us started.
Samuel Vimes, who had never gone into a place of worship with religious aforethought, worshipped Lady Sybil, and not a day went past without his being amazed that she seemed to do the same to him
I adore them
Lady Sybil and … Vimes? (collab doodle)
What do you think, guys, should I quit writing and start drawing instead?
Probably not. It’s a good thing Sybil (drawn by @flaggermousse) still loves her Sam no matter who draws him. :P
