This is an older fic and I’m honestly surprised it doesn’t have more hits. I know some people have read it but it you haven’t check it out!! It’s one of my early favorites and one I come back to again and again.

Ten years after Watford, Simon is lonely and magic-less, and ends up doing exactly what he vowed he would never do - going on a singles tour of Magickal Britain. The only problem is that out of all the mages in England, he’s been matched with Baz Pitch, who seems just as moody, rude and annoyingly attractive as he used to be.
This is a post-Wayward Son fic that imagines the gang back at Watford after their return from America. It tenderly confronts the idea that Simon retains some residual magic, explores his Salisbury family connections, and gives such a lovely snapshot of this found family, and the depth of love between Simon and Baz. It’s a very healing fic. Canon divergent now that AWTWB is out but oh so worth the read. Just lovely.
Ok, full disclosure, I am so fond of reading domestic fluff and this totally hits the domestic fluff buttons, but it also is a very healing fic to read? It’s like an epilogue to AWTWB. It addresses some of their past Watford-era conflict and it features body worship and intimacy and just go read it! (Also, it’s this author’s first fic in the fandom and I’d like to see more from them.)

And you’re absolutely right, scientifically speaking, as demonstrated by this image from an article in the Journal of Archaeological Science titled ‘Experimental design of the Cu-As-Sn ternary colour diagram’.
I love that the link for the color analysis references swords. It’s so fitting for our sword-wielding, cake-loving, bronze-curls and blue-eyed former (once and future and forever, if you are a Snowvian) Chosen One.
Tempting to write more Simon Snow books solely for the high jinx.
I think I need to be brave and write something new.
But it makes me sad because I especially love Simon Snow readers. And every time you move onto a new book or thing, you sort of naturally leave your previous audience behind.
The thing about Simon Snow readers is they are generally Up For A Lark.
Because the whole series is a lark. It requires you to say, “Yeah it’s fine to read a serious book spun off a parody fanfic in another book. I can hold farce and tragedy in my head at the same time.”

Carry On Through The Ages is back for its Third Year!
I’ve been going back and forth for the last month, wondering if I wanted to do another year of COTTA. I’ve decided that I love it too much to not go for another year.
I think as long as I’m still writing for this fandom, I won’t be able to abandon my baby.
There won’t be too many changes from last year’s event. The event is still going to be a week-long (September 12-16). The Discord server is still active (though it’s a little quiet at the moment) (hopefully that will change once signups happen). Hopefully the server will be useful for people to exchange ideas and for help when it comes to research. It will also be a place for those who want to beta. I will be sending the Discord link with the confirmation email once the signup period is done.
Like last year, posting dates will be given closer to the actual event, once everyone has a chance to think about their concept. I want to also make sure that every day of the event has (roughly) an equal amount of people posting.
A link to the Sign Up page will be posted on April 8th, and will remain open for two weeks.

This scene was written so beautifully, I couldn’t follow through on my original plan to release art in order. Two things stuck out to me in the way Rainbow wrote this milestone of intimacy for Simon and Baz: 1) The way Baz uses verbal cues to keep Simon present and in the moment (when earlier, he’d been succumbing to panic attacks any time they were about to be physically intimate), and 2) the way this love scene was as passionate and loving as any other love scene regardless of their still being dressed (which pleased me greatly as a gray-ace person). I just thought it was so mindfully executed given the characters and the audience, and I hope those of you who read it agree.
…Simon has some sort of scythe. He looks like the grim reaper. Drenched in blood, his T-shirt as red as his wings. One of his wings is drooping, I don’t think he can fly. He doesn’t really need to. Unarmed, untrained vampires aren’t much of a match for Simon with a blade - any blade will do…
Penny and Agatha fought together so strong without a wand and without speech was a really impactful moment of the book as well, though i never actually finish this drawing
