Day 7: some more glass. I like glassware a lot. 

My hand cramped up trying to do that lettering, but that’s okay. Looking forward to spending some time on the iPad this weekend. I have a few time consuming things in mind to draw.

Days 4, 5, and 6, not in that order. 

A line that I heard in an interview on NPR this morning that stuck in my head all day. 

Some sort of celestial vibe I guess?

Hello, subjecting ppl to another boosted post.  

This one is a test in comparison to the illustration I boosted a week or so ago and then I’m done boosting. 

Okay I think I’m getting really really really close to where I want on my quest to digitally replicate how I do stone lithography.

As for the image: it’s not from inside my head, it’s like 90% based off a photo from a friend’s trip to Ireland. 

Darker fills and more separation help make this coloring idea look more like what I’m going for.

Maybe I’ll quickly fill a little square in Procreate with a bunch of related words whenever I’m bored.

Coloring experiment.

I’m not super into figuring out what is the perfect brush on the iPad. I’ve downloaded so many things, tried them, and then I forget what brush I like and what submenu it’s under. 

All I want is something that looks like lithography with sloppy registration and I think the default pencil in Adobe Fresco is pretty darn close.

15 seconds of exclamations in Procreate because I can’t share screenshots of what I really wanted to share any time soon. 

A quick Fresco self-portrait in conté crayon colors. 

A quick warmup illo that feels pretty incomplete. Might circle back to it later to add something to fill in some negative space. 

And I kind of like my fake riso/litho look that I’ve done here and in this other illustration. Will probably keep messing with it.

Anyway after a few years of thinking I had bone spurs or arthritis in both wrists because of what a doctor had said in the past and a history of bike wrecks, I learned I have some weird peanut shaped wrist bones and a big ol’ ganglion cyst in my left wrist. Still have to decide on surgery for it. 

A little warm up sketch for some freelance work from last night. 

Sometimes when you’re a designer who can also illustrate, you end up doing commercial illustrations that are not your thing at all. I do brand design work via my agency and the illustration/mural wasn’t part of the original plan, but it happened. The end product in the photo isn’t what I had in mind and you can see the initial illustration in the second image. 

This is my first indoor mural in a commercial space (it’s a giant sticker ), so kind of proud but kind of underwhelmed at the same time hahah. 

Still asked a friend to take an awkward photo of me for my parents tho.
