We have seen this bold model before, then demonstrating astonishing flexibility, this time simply showing off his assets to the camera. The first photograph posted has been suggested as c1890 by regular contributor Yanni, therefore this second discovery from the same set may also be estimated then.
Once again my weakness for boys with garlands in their hair leads me to post yet another picture fitting that description, this a little more modest than other photographs from this era of Arcadian beauty. He looks like his pout is about to spread into a smile.
I haven’t the faintest idea what is going on in this strange photograph other than a very-nearly-naked man is wearing a ladies’ hat, so I thought you may like it.
My thanks to long-term friend of the blog Yanni, who has sent in another fantastic submission this week! Unknown whether this gentleman was truly North African as his clothes suggest (the picture bears a striking resemblance to some published by Lehnert & Landrock, taken in Tunisia using local models), or a wealthy European dressed for the costume parties so popular in his era. And I must admit I’m a tad dubious whether we do indeed see his own equipment peeping so impudently from the folds of his trousers - the shape appears just a little unreal, I wonder if he is fooling us with a phallic carving or sculpture placed there to shock and tease his friends!
