I can’t tell you how excited I am to see Supergirl in Blu-Ray format. My first introduction to Supergirl started out from my Dad recording the film from the local TV station on VHS when I was four. I had already seen the Reeve films I was SO excited there was a Supergirl! With a tea towel tucked into my shirt, I sat and watched it over, and over… and OVER! It drove my parents so nuts that Dad actually taped over it in hope I’d forget. I didn’t. I was distraught! When I told my late uncle Doug what happened, in the name of my childhood - he gave me his copy with the tab snapped out! So off I went for another 15 years before it was released on DVD with not only better clarity, but a never seen before Directors Cut, extras that included still shots and a making of the movie special! Next week I’ll be seeing Supergirl in it’s purest format for the first time ever- a long way from the old TV taped VHS (now safely tucked away with my childhood costume)and I’ve wait a LONG time to see it in this clarity. I often wonder if it wasn’t for my uncle (rest his soul) would I have carried on this journey? He was an amazing guy, he’s part of the pride behind donning the 1984 suit every time. Believe it or not, I have been ridiculed for my love of this film because it wasn’t a box office success but you know what? For some people a film carries way more meaning than its success. That meaning isn’t just the movie, it’s the story and the people attached to it - and that is exactly why I cosplay her. PROUDLY. For now, here are some stunning previews of Helen in all her beauty! Listening to any Prince album now is a mixture of joy and pain. He did leave us with such an incredible legacy though.
I’m so glad Warner Bros decided to release 'The Black Album’ officially back in 1994. It took me a while to get into the album back then but now I consider it one of his finest works.
