D O M E // La vista dall’alto su tutta Firenze dalla Cupola del Brunelleschi ti toglie il fiato per quanto è bella.
⁉️ Ci sono tante curiosità e misteri che riguardano quest’opera magnifica, eccone alcune:
⛪️ Il Duomo di Firenze con la sua cupola è l’edificio più alto della città: una legge non scritta obbligò gli architetti fiorentini a costruire edifici che non superassero in altezza la cupola di Brunelleschi.
Per realizzarla ci sono voluti ben 4 milioni di mattoni, furono realizzati e cotti nelle fornaci dell’Impruneta (un comune di Firenze celebre soprattutto per l'industria della terracotta).
⚜️ Al termine della cupola venne bandito un concorso per decorare l’unica parte rimasta scoperta: la fascia di mattoni grezzi tra il tamburo e i mattoni rossi della cupola. Al concorso partecipò Michelangelo, il cui progetto però venne scartato a favore di quello di Baccio d’Agnolo.
✋ Dopo due anni Baccio realizzò uno degli otto lati della cupola e prima di proseguire chiese ai fiorentini cosa ne pensarono. Michelangelo commentò l’opera dicendo “Mi pare una gabbia per grilli”. Baccio si risentì così tanto del giudizio che abbandonò il cantiere, lasciandolo incompiuto come lo vediamo ancora oggi.
La palla dorata che sovrasta la Cupola del Duomo di Firenze pesa 1981 kg. Il 5 aprile del 1492 venne colpita da un fulmine che la distrusse più di un terzo. Una secondo fulmine la colpì il 27 gennaio 1601 e la palla rotolò giù dalla cupola portandosi dietro parti della lanterna e facendo volare frammenti di marmo fino a metà dei Via de’ Servi.
All’interno della cupola si trovano 463 scalini che conducono da terra alla terrazza; questo percorso permette di osservare da vicino uno dei più grandi affreschi del mondo, pari a 3600 mq, ad opera di Giorgio Vasari e Federico Zuccari.
